    The arm means nothing. If you think about it. The Terminator comes back through time, leaving it’s chip, to make Skynet possible. Skynet destroys world, creates Terminator, and sends it back through time. And so on. And so on. It’s a very tidy cycle. But now ask yourself “How did the cycle begin??” Because both cannot exist, until one exists first. So either the Terminator must be created without Skynet, (which makes no sense) or Skynet must be created without a Terminator. The painful truth is they only delayed our destruction. Judgement Day is ultimately inevitable.

    "He's about my height... he has your eyes." Probably one of my favorite subtle foreshadowings in a film. Kyle is telling her, without telling her. 40:09 This is the last shot of the Terminator in the film. They had no money left. The budget was gone. It is literally two pieces of form core (for the top and bottom of the press), a piece of aluminum foil that has been hastily formed into the eye and skull, a christmas tree light on a dial, and cigarette smoke from off camera. Literally someone is standing just off camera puffing smoke. Everybody loves Terminator 2, and what's not to love? But true be told the first film, from its tone to its music to the behind the scene pain and suffering to get it made just inspires me so much more as an artist. I love Michael Biehn as Kyle, Linda Hamilton as Sarah, going from a meek and mild-mannered waitress to a tough-as-nails survivor... and Arnie as The Terminator, never played the machine better in my view. From his "Eyes tracking like a securiy camera" to the way he held his body and face... I just love it all.

    Great reaction! This is one of the best trilogies ever IMO. One detail that I’m not sure if you caught or not, is when Marty returns to 1985. When he comes back he looks up at the clock tower and you can see the damage of the building underneath the clock that was caused by Doc when he almost fell trying to fix that electric line. Just that I’d mention that. Looking forward to the next 2 movies!

    so, it wasn't suppose to actually have a sequal. But when it did so well they decided to make two more. About the time jump thing there are more answers coming for that in the comming movies. So your thought about the end actually isn't that, but the triology is amazing. When Micheal J Fox heard they where going to do a second movie he called his agent and told them to make sure he was in that movie. Ofc they already had him in mind, but he really wanted to be in the sequal.

    The game I believe you were thinking about was called Mousetrap (in the UK). You built this mad contraption with a ball moving along plastic ‘pathways’, which causes a small plastic figure to dive into a bucket which led to a trap falling down to catch a mouse, hence the name.

  • @fulalbatross
    @fulalbatross День тому

    Probably the most important scene in the director's cut that really, really should've been in the theatre version, is a scene from the garage where they patch up the Terminator and spend the night. Everything else they left out is fine; good scenes that add some flavour, but doesn't really change much story telling-wise. They open up the Terminator's head and exposes it's cpu, and flip the switch from read-only to learning. Also, Sarah tries to kill the defenceless Terminator, but John convinces her not to, marking her first actual acknowledgement of him as the leader he is to become and his right and capacity to make judgement calls for himself (and others), by himself. This marks a noticeble shift in the dynamic and trust between the two of them for the rest of the movie, that's much harder to explain without the scene. Also, it's (obviously) from that point on, that the Terminator begins to learn things, both from observing his surroundings and from John's little lessons.

    As it is now, it's definitely one big story in three parts, so you will want to watch all of it. But originally, they thought it would just be one, unless it was really successful. So I think that was just a decent bit of writing to leave an open end in case they got to do something with it. The callbacks are the thing that makes this so fun. You're seeing just a few within this one movie, but even gets better when they knew they were doing sequels because they could lay down other hints in 2 that get paid off in 3. And some are repeating jokes that are in all three.

      Oh, and you weren't sure about who the guitarist was calling? He was calling "Chuck", and he said "This is your cousin, Marvin Barry." So Chuck Barry was a black guitarist in the 50's who was very famous for making some of that early transition of blues into rock and roll. Chuck Barry had a lot of hits, like Maybelline, Sweet Little Sixteen, Roll Over Beethoven, and Johnny B. Goode.

    I will say, I don't think you realize how rare it is to actually have someone be surprised by the reveal that Arnold is the good guy in the sequel. Because even the trailers gave it away back in the day. So you'd need to be someone who had never seen the trailers and never even heard of the plot of T2 in the first place, over the last 30+ years. That is amazingly rare. Seeing your confusion was a real treat! 🙂

    On the test drive... Einstein didn't need extra plutonium because wasn't returning FROM anywhere. Doc sent him 1 minute into the future. He disappeared and reappeared 1 minute later. It was just a one-way trip. (anyway, how would Einstein reload the chamber and reset the time??) Also.... it gave them a minute to stand there and give us more exposition without it seeming obvious or having to go to another scene, etc. Another smart move by the writer/director
