I sat in a CX5 today at a dealership. Not a good car for tall guys! My head was up against the roof. Also sat in the CX30, which felt much better for tall men, but then the back seats are said to have very little leg space.

Found your vid because I just got 2018 soul red touring with premium package with 60k miles. Love it, feels like a sports car disguised as a truck. I don’t plan on going off roading anytime soon but everything feels quality built.

Two days ago I turned off my CX5 and had the fob with a strong battery in the front console. It locked itself as soon as I closed my door and before I could open the back door to get my newborn out. I had to break the window. Electronic key fobs are infuriating - they fail and are expensive to replace. I never had a physical ignition key lock my doors on me and trap my baby inside.

I don't have all that on my CX5. Meaning, no key lock cylinders on any door 😭

I literally thought it was a valve tick when I bought my 2018 Sig until I had the dealer start another new car and it made the same sound.

I do this to my cars but I induce the whole can in slowly till it smoking and then let it rest 20-30 mins then start it up and let it run till it smooths out, then I drive it like i stole it. A tiny amount of seafoam is only gonna scratch the surface of all that carbon buildup and it’ll be gunked up again before you know it.

Mazda still sells new vehicles without navigation SD card. That is extra charge, and so are the updates. What a slap in the face... I also hate Daylight Running Lights. Why ? They are not mandatory in the USA. Don't install them by default. Does anyone know how to disable them?

Thanks for extensive review. I have the 2020 CX-5 Signature. Same color as yours. I love it. The interior leather I keep up with Saddle Soap. My seats are not showing any cracking or wrinkling like yours. I use premium fuel in mine because it has the turbo. Still have original battery. I put three coats of wax on the exterior every summer.

Why can't they keep well enough alone? Why is everything overengineered? For 1 extra mile of fuel economy?

I'm planning on purchasing a 3 really soon, the ad posting had a video with the engine making this same sound. I was sketchy about it, but knowing all this now, I'm glad to see it's normal for these types of engines

I would never consider CX-5 that has cylinder deactivation. It is engine killer.

With CEL on you won't pass yearly emissions testing.

I figured out how to do this with my CX3 and then also went out to play on Ghost Lake! But then my rear diff sheared the ring gear and has left me fwd only until I can get my new diff in :( But fun none the less! haha

2019 cx5 with 76k miles and I need to replace the two cracked lower ball points. I hear the click sound when turn the steering wheel and I think is the cracked lower ball joints

Yes! I got the struts for $85 each (but came as a set) from sole-autoparts but there were many sellers on there to choose from.

Thank you! The job only took about twenty minutes! A note to viewers: on my 2017 model there was a white plastic piece like a grommet on the wiring hole that I had to take off. There was no way the wiring was passing through it so I couldn’t reuse it but when I grabbed the replacement strut it had a newly designed rubber grommet that slipped in and does the job of that plastic piece. Thanks Driver 67!

Thanks! I just got my struts in the mail and I think it will go ok. Mine did not come with a screw on bracket but the clip release looks easy enough. I’m disappointed that I have to pull down the trim because in the past with other cars I’ve had trouble getting it to fit tight again. But I’m confident now that I’ve watched your video! Fingers crossed.

Good news! I bought the lifts on eBay for $85 each. Mine rusted out for some reason. They LOOK easy to replace. I’ll find out tomorrow! 😑

Hey what manufacturer date do you have? And country origin. I've been looking at used ones but have read in various forums that a lot of 2018 have problems with hairline cracks on cylinder heads covers. I'm trying to make a correlation between dates and assembly plants

I managed to do it once, on a 2012 1st gen CX-5. So my CX-5 backdoor is sometimes a bit hard to shut completely until another attempt to shut it firmly. At one time while all the other doors are locked, I left the key inside the trunk and the back door was not shut completely but only until the point that the closing mechanism is holding it. So the beep was not there but I also cannot open the luggage door because it automatically shuts the opening mechanism since the key is not with me. I Was panicking but when I got a bit chill about the situation, I tried to push the back door a bit firmly and suddenly it trigger it to sense the key was inside and activates the opening switch😂. Other than that the first gen CX-5 works exactly as the video described above, almost no chance that you can lock the key inside even to the point that I became complacent and locked myself out from my old BMW x5.
