the central tube on the carburetor for powermate 5500 has tiny hole at top, barely noticeable, that can get clogged with gum from old fuel or whatever, when i cleared it with a piece of thin wire it was ok, it's too small for a pin, but thin wire like for electric transformers or perhaps toothbrush bristle will work. that hole is for pressure relief to allow fuel to file tube vertically from bottom well.

I bought a compressor from some guy. On the way to pickup the compressor, he told me it's not work and decided to give me the compressor for free. I came home plugged it in and realized that he just didn't know how to close the valve.

I'm building pressure , but when I put the hose to the air valve to fill tires or ball . I loose pressure .. weird! thanks for making this video . nothing g wrong with old school. that's sometimes the best way

I am totally surprised that cardboard will work as a gasket material. How long does that last? I think I would take Arturo‘s suggestion to use regular gasket material and do everything else pretty much the same. Reading some of the other comments other people have had success using cardboard. Totally surprising!

Good job ! a sheet of gaket is about $6 but cardboard will do in a pinch until one gets to the store. well done!

Old air compressors are like ticking time bombs - you never know when they will go off. It's not a good idea to have a bomb near you... that's why you never repair an airframe older than 10 years. safety first

I would just trace around the old gasket with a pencil since it's in good condition. Then use a ruler to trace the missing piece of the gasket. But great diy fix video. 👍

Why can’t you lay the old gasket on the gasket material and just trace it and cut it out?

My Harbor Freight 94734 had the same problem. Cut out a new one out of Fel-Pro 3075 and works like new again. Thanks.

My compressor starts working and builds pressure up to 150psi but sometimes during work it will not start and won't keep tank charged. Sometimes it turns on only for a few seconds then goes quiet. Sometimes I hears something that it wants to start like air going somewhere through the pipe for about 2 second and then quiets and stays like that. Fails to keep up pressure in tank when I use it. Pressure goes low as 50psi but compressor doesn't start. Then I had to open drain valve to release remaining air pressure in the tank. Disconnect it from AC power for few minutes and it starts working again build up to 150psi again. I don't hear any air leaks. What could be wrong?

Senyor Arturo, why didnt you just take the old gasket and outline the gasket on the piece of cardboard?... My Stepfather used your method with the wrench when he didnt have a gasket to outline. Anyway. Thanks for sharing. :)
