Welcome to the Kumikoworld of Tanihata.
Kumikowoodworking is a delicate and sophisticated technique of assembling wooden pieces without the use of nails. The technique was developed in Japan in the Asuka Era (600-700 AD), and has since been refined and passed down through generations of craftsmen who are passionate about the tradition of Kumiko. Tanihata manufactures “Kumiko” screens with this technique.

Zasloužíte si úctu, máte to v genech.
I wish, I'm allowed to work and learn this art from these masters... Thanks a lot for sharing...

Magical ~ 👍👍👍
Master craftsman in God’s own country, Japan. Passion, Quality and absolute focus 👍👍👍
Absolutely gorgeous! 😍Please, how many millimeters is the usual thickness of wooden strips for kumiko?
Usually 1 bu, which is a traditional Japanese unit of measurement that is very close to 3 mm, or roughly 1/8 inch.
Thanks for your comment! It varies depending on the pattern, but in this video, the wood is assembled 12 mm wide and 3 mm thick.
Thank you for posting this vid. Loved watching it 😎
I'm Brazilian and I really like Japanese culture and I really appreciate these educated people who keep their historical cultures alive. I really like Kabuki theater (my dream would be to see one live), Taiko sound and this wonderful art that is Kumiko.
That skill, really high level, delighted to have discovered your channel
Lindo seu trabalho, parabéns.🇧🇷
This is really mind blowing.
Très intéressant, c’est raffiné, merci
Excellence !! With simple tool also simply made, great precise works of high human quality, not only phisical beauty. All respect to such human masters !!!. From Mexico.
Absolutely Amazing 👍🏼
Kutluyorum.
