#pomoly #wintercamping #hottent Today we're going to take a look at the LEO 2 hot tent from Pomoly. I purchased the LEO 2 for $250. It comes in a rather nice bag with buckles to help take the load off the zipper. Inside the bag, we'll find the outer tent, inner tent, 3 aluminum poles, 14 aluminum steaks, and 4 guy lines. The whole package is advertised as weighing 8.6 pounds but mine was nearly...

Join me on a solo hammock camping adventure in the Richard J Dorer state forest. Not long ago the forest floor was covered in snow and frost and my mind very subtly shifted to monotone. Its not till I see the spring flowers that I realize this has happened. The flood of colors is a sign that warmer weather will soon be in full swing. The goal of this adventure was to simply hike into the forest...
Repairing REI Garage Sale Gear | Two Minute Tuesday

Today we’re going to play what I call, garage sale roulette. Recently I was in the returns section of my local REI and seen this sleeping pad. I figured for 60 bucks I’d bring it home and attempt a repair. The rip in the pad is ugly for sure and went through both sides. Lets get started. I’ve been thinking about something recently that I’m sure others have noticed as well. As I’ve ventured into the world of backpacking, I’ve watched hours and hours of UA-cam videos and read books on the topic. However, there’s been a few instances where I’ve confused knowledge of something with expertise on a given topic. Let's go over the difference between the two. To find out about upcoming ...

Today we’re going to take a look at potable aqua purification tablets. When backpacking for multiple days is can be very difficult to pack in all the water you’d need for the entire trip, at 2.2 pounds per liter the extra weight adds up quickly. Therefore, most backpackers choose to pack a water filter and filter the water they find along the way. This is super convenient however my most recent...

The Pitfalls Of Using An Alcohol Stove In The Cold!
Hey Aaron! So glad to see you out on an adventure! Thank you for the Bible study segment. I think that’s an amazing addition! Im praying for you and the family. I know it’s not easy brother. Keep leaning on our Lord and Savior Jesus! God bless you!
Thank you brother! ✌️
It's not clear but these guys appear to be eating in a shelter. KEEP FOOD OUT of the shelters . BEARS.

Welcome back. A beautifully artistic video as always. Luna seems like a good camping companion. I've always found camping in remote settings to be a naturally spiritual thing. Sorry to hear that you had some challenges but glad to know that things are better and that you have such a postive outlook. Best wishes!

Nice video. Glad to see you back out.
Thanks Sam 🤠✌️
This is an excellent video! I am so surprised it’s not more popular. I hope to hike the superior hiking trail next year, and your journey gave me motivation! Congrats!
Merci..... Bonjour de France.....
I haven't tried one in the snow, but the "cat can stove" made from a Fanciy Feast and small tomato paste can is supposed to work great. Mine works well in slightly above freezing temperatures. Thank you for the clever tips.
Enjoyed watching your video. I too dislike the roar of my pressurized gas and canister stoves. The last decade or so I have come to really appreciate the quiet of alcohol and wood Twig stoves. I personally am seldom in a hurry when in the woods and these quiet slower methods of cooking and preparing foods and drinks are fine with me.
Agreed, thanks for watching Lonnie. ✌🤠
Nice work. Now, if I had the tool those cartridges are for, or knew someone who did, it would be far more practical than destroying a brand new unit for the experiment. For 10 pounds of wax, I can cast 90 candles to fit the lantern, so, thanks, but I'm sticking with candles.
Have one, works amazing. Tried to buy a second one and had 7 units fail in a row. First 4 failed the integrity check right out of the box. My question is; how many people might not perform the integrity check and get giardia? Super scary. The last 3 failed because they didn't let ANY water through. Maybe 2mL per minute, not the claimed 3L. No exaggeration. I love my working QuickDraw, I just wish I could find a working second one.
How long did the pellets burn for, and did you add more?
Hello Signal Outdoors. I have a question to you about the Platypus Quickdraw. I'm interessted in buying one of these for the first time to mod it. Is it possible to remove the fibers in it (easly)? I never had one in my hand before. I wanna fill it with natural cotton and active coal (from a aquarium shop) by myself insead of the fibers which come with it. The natural cotton and active coal are 100% compostable and so I could change the filling in the outdoors without harming nature. Also i'm saving waste because I think that way I could use on Platypus for many years. And because I have a fresh filling before every trip I don't have to bother for a moldy filter. What do you think of my idea? Do you think it's possible you remove the fibers, or are those glued in? And if so, are those removeable anyways? Thanks for your video, thumb up. And I hope for a response to my question. Best regards from Germany, River Bank Viking
can u use this inside a home?
This shows how all those shed tests don't address the real problems of using an alcohol stove in the winter. Well done. I don't think you've quite cracked all the problems, but you have at least addressed them. One tip I picked up for guaranteed ignition is to twist up a short length of tissue and use it as a wick sticking up just above the top of the stove. It seems to work every time.
Great tip! Thanks
I bought this filter for my honeymoon in Yosemite and we didn’t discover until we were out there how slow the filer was. It slowed us down a lot but the trip was great. We’re doing the JMT so I’ll need to figure out a solution.
My thoughts are to use your stack as a cooking area. Elevate your cooking surface to allow air flow. This will be like a rocket stove. It'll work believe me. Also the longer your stack the hotter it will be.
thank s
Use this all the time thanks to this tip 3 years ago. Now wish I could find out how to buy some replacement parts.
I dropped one of those flat nuts for the top of the stove in the grass this fall never to be seen again. Lol I found a replacement and spare here: www.threeridgesgear.com/ They're a little different than the original but work great nonetheless. 🤠✌️
I have had 4 of these. 2 originals and 2 warranty replacements. None of them have worked anywhere near advertised. I junked the 2 warranty replacements and went to a befree. This is one of the worst outdoor gear products of all time.
I've switched to the befree as well.
U knooowwww....they sell small kerosene lanterns that also burn diesel which is a lOt cheaper...and...if U want a bigger flame...(more heat) just add some charcoal starter (~ 10 %ish...) in with the diesel/Kerosene and it will burn much cleaner, hotter, brighter...For ur version U cud just use a smaller 1/8th inch wick for better flame control...that's cool but much too fastidious for my taste...
burn off the gavanized coating at 1000 f and let burn for 5 -6 hours poof coating gone
Also, get some stove cement to seal the lid on the can, and think about getting some fireproof rope that is used on woodstove doors. I would use the rope around the inside of the door.
additionally, you could just drill some small holes in the door
i would maybe take a small soup can and add it to the bottom portion of the stove, and use it to collect ash
Friend, if you’re gonna want to look at the flames like that, all the time, you really need to consider putting in a mica window, That will keep you from introducing a whole new draft from the side, which seems to be the thing that’s causing the smoke to come up through your hopper. It might not be a terrible idea to put a little bit of that rope insulation stuff around the door, so that you can seal it. That might make a huge difference to the efficiency of your unit.
I use my Lixada alcohol siphon stove inside the Goshawk Outdoors titanium multi-fuel wood gasifier stove Eddy-200 Pioneer, it helps elevate the alcohol stove from the cold ground & shelter it from the wind. But I also love using hard wood pellets in the Goshawk stove & a squirt of alcohol to get 'er started. One cup of pellets burns for 90 mins, 35 mins of active flame 🔥 and 55 mins of useable heat with nothing left but some ash. UA-camr Mark Young modded a simmer ring and snuff cap from tuna cans for the Lixada siphon. Works great, and u can easily snuff & recover unused fuel, as needed, instead of just letting it burn off.
Thanks again brother you're awesome God bless you
I thought you said "hot tent can penis winter". 😂❤
Not enough draft
How about closing the shelter to retain the heat?
You need a pipe cap for the pellet chamber that'll keep your fire from flashing up in there
Stagger your rivets going down the side and you'll get more purchase with less long gaps in between
At this point your dremel is for the sharp edges on the front and the back
A strip a coat hanger underneath the edge of the baffle on the front but also stiffen it very nicely
What if you put a length of coat hanger wire on the edges of that door and folded it over
GOOD ADVICE, thanks. Form East Tennessee
Great little stove as someone who's worked with metal for over 20 years I just wanted to share Metal fumes when inhaled can cause dizziness and nausea. If you are exposed to them over a long time, even in small quantities, they can cause lung damage, and cancers of the lungs, larynx, and urinary tract. They also cause metal fume fever, stomach ulcers, kidney damage, and damage to the central nervous system. For example, Manganese fumes may cause symptoms similar to Parkinson’s disease. If you are burning metal that is plated, galvanised, or painted, you could generate Lead, Zinc, or Cadmium fumes, all of which are dangerous. Extremely toxic and over time can be leathal just be Shure to cook it off in a well vented atmosphere before using it just get it red hot and let the metal gas off before using it in a tent or camper and you'll be just fine .. great job it's a good looking little stove 👍
VERY nice. If you can find a square/rectangle can, you can use the top as a stove.
Your chanel is way to underrated! Your videos are awsome🎉❤
Thanks Brother. ✌️🤠
