My grandfather was killed in The Battle of Loos. .His body never came home to Scotland nor did his brother .They lived next door to each other and left a widow and six children ,12 children left fatherless ( my own father the youngest at 4 ys old). He's buried in the cemetery at Loos En Gohelle. Thank you for this wonderful act of remembrance .For all of them who fell and us their descendant families.

I have watched a lot of documentaries about the Great War, amb some of them are really hard, but none of them makes me feel so close to all those unfortunate men (who knew so clear they were sent to death by insane leaders) like this song, this performance amb specially this voice.

What's the organ he's playing? Sounds like an accordion.

Really nice playing. Captures the spirit of the instrument. Someone gave me a smaller, 2 octave version of one of these, in the mid 60s. The box was brass colored, and had a curved chrome grill, backed by a gold thread fabric. It had small rubber feet, and a chrome carrying handle on the front, below the keyboard. It didn't open up like this, nor did it have resonating tubes. It was in perfect condition. I believe it was meant to be played in bands and small orchestras. It was probably made in the mid 50s. I gave to a musician friend, in the 70s, because I never played it. I did have piano lessons as a kid, and I played the Glockenspiel in marching band in high school. I saw myself as a percussionist, not a keyboard player. I wish I still had it. Of course.

Hello ... I'm from Austria .... I love this music and this language. (Singing) .... For me, julie Fowlis is one of the best (most versatile) musicians I've heard ....!

Absolutely charming! I love the framing device of opening and closing the instrument. Open the box, make some magic come out, close the box. A proper little narrative, and an exquisite little tune.
