In Nomine is a modern roleplaying game in which the players take the part of celestial beings - angels and demons - as they struggle for control of humanity and themselves. The celestials, powerful though they may be, are merely pawns in a much larger game being played by their Superiors, the Archangels and Demon Princes. Based on the best-selling French RPG by the wonderfully diabolical Croc!
In Nomine won the Origins Award for Best Graphic Presentation of a Roleplaying Game, Adventure, or Supplement of 1997.

Valefor is an interesting Calibim , showing more Ofanim flightiness than the destructiveness of a Calibim. I need to pick up the superiors 4 book that has the deep dive on him.
I have them all digitally, I’m hoping to get some time to read and review them one at a time.

Nice series. Keep it up.
Thank you! I’m really just doing it to prep for my actual play, but if we enjoy it, the series may have legs.

Awesome!
His single mindedness with Death is his greatest asset and flaw.

Play-testing is gonna reveal more, but i do think the starting physicality should be higher for PCs. I'm all for a challenge, but I don't think a mere goblin should be able to one shot a PC as what happened in your example scenario. A tweak of the starting physicality number is probably the easiest fix. I'm curious what your thought is on that, thanks!
I think damage management is the most important aspect. But finding a balance will be the crux of the problem.
Great stuff, I really like the Saga influence with interpreting the 3 dice to give added flavor to a combat round, that's a nice touch
It's hard not to be influenced by so many games.

Nybbas is, more so than any other, a prince of the times. Heard a interesting rumor about Nybbas and Eli history. Heard that Eli blocked Asteroid at the Tunguska event, otherwise it would have destroyed the earth. In the following time Nybbas absorbed the forces Eli lost gaining Nybbas more forces. This is also what caused Eli to have his issue where he leaves heaven and why on the Superior page for Nybbas has a screen displaying Eli when all the others display other princes.
Oh interesting! Thanks for sharing!

The added rules and combat tables sound fun, but I worry about adopting 5E 2024 rules. The combat turns take absolutely forever when you have more than 2 or 3 players with all the multiple attacks, counter moves, bonus actions, etc etc Still worth checking out though
I tend to agree. I’ll have to keep the group small
It sounds pretty good, but I dont think it'll be something I back.
That’s fair. It’s already funded. So just wait for its release and play!

What do you mean we don't want to roleplay seriously?! What about the time that ... nope. But there was that ... nope. Alright, fine.
lol
I absolutely Love Malphas. He is one of the few demons who believes in who and what he is and is happy about it. No dark brooding about their word like Andre and Kobal, no squabbling with his counter part in heaven like Beleth, Baal, and Belial. He is the Shedims Shedim
lol nice!

So couple of things: If you look at Earth, deserts are at 30 degrees north and south of the equator. Due to how water and air move. Also, that's where the first civilizations arose along river valleys. Long growing cycles, society forced together for water, shared resources and needed order. Arctic begins at about 60 degrees. Second: Our moon is really weird. It's 25% the size of Earth, but 1% of the mass. With its mass being most important for gravity. If you look at other moons, they're tiny by comparison size-wise, but similar mass size to our moon: 1% size and 1% mass of their parent planet.
Also mountain ranges follow coastlines due to plate tectonics.
That's fascinating, thanks for the tips
I use Race, then Ancestry to narrow the character's background culturally like a "people" in the traditional sense, and finally ethnicity to flesh it out as a "nation" in the traditional sense, then subdivide nations into tribes and clans. So like Race: Human, Ancestry Celtic, Ethnicity: Irish. Works to provide culture, language, and history.
That's a solid way of defining people.
I like it.
Thank you
I was just as surprised as anyone when that voice came out......😂
lol Aflack!
What do you think God said the Kobal before the fall? I think it's listed in the Story tellers book about how God spoke to Kokal, before the fall, about something but it's not reveled what they spoke about.
I’m honestly not sure. I imagine it was something reaffirming and touching. Maybe a knock knock joke…

I have really enjoyed these videos, and have been reading a lot of the In Nomine books recently. Yves is really cool as well, and his potential connection to Kronos is very interesting. Do you know of any online place to find a campaign for a beginner like me who has never actually played it?
I’m sorry, I don’t.
The interesting part of Yves is that his library in heaven links to all libraries in all realms even in Hell or the Marches. Also the other source material for Kronos it goes into how he is like Yves, meaning they are both Celestial spirits and not Angels. Also find it interesting how only Michael is hostile Yves and unlike the other Arch Angels he doesn't see Yves as God.
It’s really fascinating lore

I like the conflict between Laurence and Khalid the Arcangel of Faith.
Was that in the campaign story?
@@Eviliv3Play Yeah, Revelations V the final trumpet. The whole Revelations set of books for it was pretty cool story arch playing to Armageddon. You can find even more info on Khalid in the Superiors 3 Hope and Prophecy book.
The art piece of Laurence looks like a young Ricardo Montalban.... which i would sign up for in a heartbeat! 😂
I see the lead singer of Whitesnake.
I think 'Eli' is supposed to be pronounced "Ee-Lie", not "Ell-ee."
🤷♂️ I just said it like it sounds to me.

This was a good review. It shows I was right to never buy this, as it is fundamentally worse than any other edition. It is beyond simply lore and metaplot, the whole mechancs are insane. It reminds me of Chronicles Of Darkness, when it went from 1st to 2nd edition. It was a massive explosion of rule bloat. It's why I am slowly back-engineering my own version, to try and simplify the game. The talk of abilities over skills is interesting, and will need to think about it. It might be that the system Buffy Role-play game uses is the better template.
Thanks for watching! I’ve never played Buffy. It would be interesting to have a basic version of this game.
@Eviliv3Play It's an Eden Studios game. The books should still be available on Drivethrurpg, though the Revised Edition can be a little hard to find, as I recall. It uses a modified form of their Unisystem, and was cleverly done, using D6 as I recall. It also had a lot of good ideas, such as the fear mechanic. You encounter a particular scary situation, you need to make a roll. However after the third time, your character is familiar with it, so no longer gets scared by that thing any more. V5 sounds like the rules hell that was shoved into Chronicles of Darkness, with things like Conditions and such forth. It's like a bunch of paper pushers took over designing the game. Hope what I have said is of help.
A bit annoyed at myself that i missed this one! So, yes in theory the 5E versions of the WOD are all compatible like v20 versions of the WOD. This currently includes Vampire the Masquerade, Werewolf the Apocalypse, and Hunter the Reckoning. A lot of the former bloodlines got mixed or folded into other clans through the various books. Personally my favorite book for VM5E is Cults of the Blood Gods as it brings back my two favorite bloodlines. I have a few gripes with lore tweaks, weird larp artwork, and clumsy historical references but overall i think its a decent modern interpretation of the old WOD systems.
That’s cool, thanks for sharing your thoughts!
This review was a great intro for me to this game that I know absolutely nothing about. Some strange ideas (the politics section, crit system, 3 round limit etc) but the overall concept of playing as iconic monsters that are de-evolving into animals is really intriguing. I already have a character concept in mind that I think is outside the box a bit and gives you, the storyteller, some interesting seeds to work with. I'm pumped to play this, thanks!
I hope I did it justice. I felt like I was rambling a lot.
@@Eviliv3Play I thought it was good, I have a much better understanding of the game now
The Frog Brothers were a reference to the two kid vampire hunters in the Lost Boys movie (Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander). I initially thought vampire hunters would be fun to play, but after this review, I realize that the game is based around playing as the vampires (duh Chris haha), What We Do In The Shadows style, thanks!
Yes, definitely! I haven’t seen that film in decades.
Thank you for watching this #BookReview of Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition. What did you think of the Core Rulebook? Have you ever played the tabletop roleplaying game? Leave a comment below!
I honestly think the Choir -> Specific Animal Type thing was a mistake from the game devs, as it leaves like 90% of the animal kingdom unsupervised. Instead, I would give Jordi a number of word-bound lieutenants who each supervise a specific animal clade, with each of them having a hierarchy of lesser word-bound who supervise more specific animal types. Instead, the Choirs become about ~roles~ in animal preservation; Seraphim are the supervisors of ecosystems, Cherubim are the protectors of specific animals/species, Ofanim oversee migrations, Elohim look after ecological balance, Kyriotates are the eyes and ears of Jordi, Malakim remain eco-terrorists, and Mercurians instead try to teach humans to be kind to animals.
That’s a really good solution!

To be clear, in the OG french game, Janus went indercover as Valefor, the Demon of Theft. They he Got so into his character he ended up challenging the Demon of Rapine and winning. This he became the Demon Prince of Theft.
Wow, that's cool!
