📌 Call of the Dolomites | Italy (🇮🇹)
I had initially intended to embark on my first solo trip to the Dolomites, but it ultimately transformed into a wonderful family adventure. Together with Dunja and the kids, we embraced new experiences, learned more about ourselves, and challenged our limits. Unfortunately, our younger son fell ill the day before our departure, which added some complexity to our journey, and the weather forecast didn’t look too promising either. To fully explore the Dolomites, one truly needs more than the five days we had at our disposal. However, our stay at the Grand Hotel Misurina provided an excellent base for discovering the iconic Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
During our five days, we managed to visit only about 30% of our planned itinerary (including Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Lago di Braies, Cinque Torri, Cadini di Misurina, and Lake Misurina), but what we experienced left us exhilarated and eager to return to this stunning landscape for future adventures. Though we encountered unpredictable weather (typical for early September), these changes added a unique charm to our trip. The rain brought a refreshing scent of pine, while the sun illuminated every ridge of the rocks, revealing the intricate details of the scenery.
This trip confirmed again the importance of flexibility and adaptability for a successful vacation. Travel isn't just about the distance covered (1,121 km 😉) or the number of steps taken (around 85,204 😯); it’s ultimately about the experiences and memories we create. As I start to plan my return, I eagerly anticipate exploring Val Gardena, Marmolada, Sella Pass, Alpe di Siusi, Seceda, Ortisei, and Passo Gardena. Each corner of the Dolomites holds a story waiting to be discovered, a landscape to savor, and a memory to cherish.
