Restoring and replacing a cracked tenon on an original Stephan Koch flute
Does this flute play slightly high-pitched? It has a real charm to it.
Magical playing, magical flute!
Wow. So inspiring. You’re amazing.
Awesome. How much do you charge for one of these?
Hi Jonathan, they run about 6k. More information on my website berneyflutes.com/the-flutes/keyed-flutes#tboehm1828
This is a Bb Tenor Flute!!!!!
The flutes in this video documentary are of wood with metal joints for keys. I wonder if the warm sound is caused by the wooden body unlike the modern flute.
Indeed, the wood makes a difference as opposed to the metal body of a modern flute. An other important factor, however is that 18th and 19th century simple-system flutes have a conical body (narrower at the end) which create more resistance and a darker, more covered sound. Modern silver flutes have a cylindrical body and much bigger toneholes, resulting in a more direct, louder sound.
i need it. beautiful
My 2nd chance to cont., following and learning about you. My first video was watched and now since I've searched your channel now I see why that 1st experience was so cool. You're the real deal, as its said. Thanks.
T H A T was xing fantastik! I know absolutely nothing of you, your channel, so excuse me. At the onset, the audio was difficult to pick out your words from the mix. Just bumped my cheap tablet vol. to 9 and slowed the playback by 25%. After two min. my mind was adjusted to your voice and thats all to that. Beautiful production! The (seemingly) ever present music, it's too much to list? Just welldone! Oh wish you all,/both?, a pleasant Thanksgiving, SS✝.
Thanks so much! Glad you find this interesting!
This is so fantastic! Thank you!!!
Regardless of the hissing or whatever, your version of that Baroque bass flute is a very impressive achievement. Your sound on it is also magnificent. Thanks for sharing both.
Thank you! Bass flute (renaissance or baroque) is not for everybody. In an ensemble it fills up the harmony nicely, and usually you don't notice the hissing as much.
I wish all wood!
I want
At first i thought.... oh wow a bass baroque flute! I want one! but my enthausiasm died once i heard it. Quite dissapointing. it sounds hissy.
Sorry you were disapointed! The quality of the sound in the recording is perhaps not entirely representative of what it sounds like in real life, as the camera mic I was using at the time seem to pick up a lot of hiss.
Being a flute dealer was pretty challenging.
Boehm was a geniu!
Marvellous!
Hello! greatings from Mexico, the prices of your website are in canadian dollars? how much would it cost to send a renaissance flute to Tonala, jalisco, Mexico, 45400? thank you
Fascinating presentation! Thank you for sharing this for all of us to learn. I wrote you an email a few moments ago. À bientôt…
Fascinating video! Sounds wonderful, I would love to play such an instrument. Bravo!
Thank you!
Beautiful flutes you make. I am a Jazz and Latin-Cuban flute player, I wonder if these Boehm could fit in a charango style? I live in Hong Kong but in my next rip to Montréa, I would very much like to try your Boehm.
Hi Pierre! That's an interesting idea, but I think it can work well as the high register on the Boehm is really great. Get inn touch when you are in Montreal, I will be happy to give you the workshop tour!
How about playing Irish Traditional Music?
Danke
Low notes are quite beautiful!
Thank you!
Wow, What amazing sound. Truly beautiful
Thank you, s little slowlyer please, o inr german
Sorry, my German is very limited, but if you have any questions I am happy to asnwer!
Rachel Brown is a certainly a treasure. I hope orders for this model flow in as fast as they did for Boehm. (Maybe not quite that fast.)😊
Thanks Fred!
