The Travel Rod is Traveling

A year ago, ten miles of this part of the river dried up during a drought. I was out to see if it recovered and to what degree. Not the outcome I was hoping. This was the positive portion.
Beeman R7 with Tune in a Tube

Tune in a Tube is great but has some trade-offs. I lost 5-10 feet per second in velocity. I am checking to see if it self corrects.
Ring of Fire Shadows

This was taken at the moment of the eclipse when the moon blocked out 95% of the sun, leaving what is called the Ring of Fire. It also makes odd-shaped shadows.

Swimmin' Jimmy 2023 - 4 Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend

This video captures the effects of the drought on the North Llano River at Junction, Texas. I never thought I would see this day. The river has been here a billion years, but it will take a long time to recover from this one.

Nice trip and beautiful place.
That's an absolute stud of a creek bass. Thanks for sharing!
😂
Thanks for sharing Sir! I hit the like button as soon as I saw your post! :-)
Glad to see ya getting out there fishing again Mr. Emshoff!! Thanks for the video!
You make the best videos and that last bass was really neat. Were you using a CFO reel?
CFO III
Glad you’re out fishing!
So glad to see the Llano with water and fish resident again! Thanks for your video. Makes me happy to see my old haunts.
98% of where I was is still sterile. A few small bait fish and sunfish have washed in with a rise in the river. The trophy bass and catfished perished.
@@billemshoff9335 Uhhhgggg. So sorry to hear that. From your video last year, I assumed that happened but was hopeful that the river bounced back and repopulated. I have a special affinity for the Llano as it was my escape from Austin for years. My son and I took many trips and fished from all crossings from Telegram all the way down to Llano.
They make rod holders now that fit on your belt. Makes everything easier and you don’t have to set your pole in the rocks.
I have a Smith rod holder pinned to my chest pack. I have lost so many fish on a Game Changer, and I was so nervous that I became worthless. I even landed it with my right hand instead of my left hand. This was a special fish because this river had dried up, and this nice fish survived. If it had gotten away, it would have been a big disappointment.
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. It reminded me of fishing on the Blanco near Wimberley. And for some reason, watching you fish with that classic rod on that beautiful stretch of river made me think about John Graves fishing the upper Brazos back in the late fifties, from his book,” Goodbye to a River.” I think I will just have to reread that wonderful book. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
@@billemshoff9335 ah great; just thought I’d mention it. Great fish and video.
Great video, glad to see you posting again.
Glad to see you out fishing! Thank you for posting!😉👍
Love this video!
When I first started fly fishing four years ago my favorite fly was the lunch money and all I wanted to find were videos of fly fishing for Bass in Texas. I eventually found this video and since then have loved your channel and learned a lot from it. I know you haven't been posting a lot lately, but just wanted to say thanks for all the videos.
Hello again Bill, How have you been?, I've been having fun with this new Beeman R-7, it is my favorite gun, I've switched pellets now, and started shooting H&N Field Target Trophy 8.64 grains at a 1 inch target dot, at 27 yards with much success, I like this gun so much, that I ordered a 2nd one today.
I am glad you are enjoying it. They are addictive. If you can afford it, go to Miday USA. Purchase the three different diameters of Field Target Trophy and also the three different sizes of JSB 8.44. I'll bet one of those six will all go into the same hole.
Are you going to be doing any more fishing videos????
The ideal time is July, August and early September.
In the film, the fish is called "Old Walter."
Hi again Bill! How are you!, This afternoon I finally received my new R-7 from Pyramyd Air, and cleaned it up really well, and put a Hawke 2x7x32 scope on it, and used RWS hobby 7.00 grain pellets..My 1st. target at 15 yards only took 5 shots to zero in, and I worked my way back to 20 yards, finishing for the day, because the sun got in my eyes., So will finish on another day.I had alot of fun! Remember, Jesus loves you!
Isn't it nice? The book says it might take 1,000 shots before you reach its potential, so the future is bright for you. I don't want to come across as over the top, but you should experiment with as many pellets as you can afford. Find out which way you hold the rifle and pull the trigger works best for you. I have good luck with H & N Sport and Field Target Trophy. In the fine print on the back of the tin, you will see pellet diameters like 4.51, 4.52, and so forth. When you find something that works, stock up on it. I have several rifles, and I wash my pellets in Dawn detergent and then swish them around in a little silicone. I weigh and sort them. It is time consuming but drastically cut down on fliers, Just me talking.
@@billemshoff9335 Thank you Bill for taking the time to give me some wonderful pointers..much appreciated sir!
Hi Bill, You talked me into the R-7, just ordered one half hour ago...
Enjoy. I always clean a new barrel with alcohol or the like to get any unwanted junk out of it.
@@billemshoff9335 I use Ballistol.
@@billemshoff9335 If you never tried Ballistol, it's great keeping guns rust free, even in humid states, works great on muzzleloaders as well.
I’ve got a hw30 they are a lot of fun and very hard to put down, I’ve been using webley velocipell/ acupell and rws superdome. I’ve watched a few videos and field target trophy are highly rated I’ve used them in my 177 gamo zombie they are dead accurate as you have shown, when our local gun shop/ Bristol Airguns gets some in stock I will purchase some, I’ve also been looking at buying a peep sight for my hw 30
Very nice shooting bench you made! Wow!
I hope to still be “puttin the sneak on” fish when I’m your age! Love your respect for the process, the area and the fish. Us younger guys need mentors like you! Keep going my friend!
Thanks Bill!
Glad to see your having fun shooting the R7 I'm seriously thinking about buying one soon...? Will see.
Check the UA-cam channel Pellets and Pistons and gunblue490, also cyclops. I think the R7 is a better investment than the HW30S.
@@billemshoff9335 tks Bill
I've been looking at the R7 videos and I might be ordering one soon.
I had a few baby fox (a week or two old, I'd guess) crawl out from under my shed and check me out. No fear, 100% curiosity, and a cute as anything I've ever seen.
What a good mama she came back to feed them. Thank you Mr. Emshoff for sharing with us.
Thanks Bill!…..Fishing season is here!
Nice rifle 👍
The R7/HW30 is a quality air rifle and a dream to shoot and better than the most expensive GAMO air rifle.
The SAAP Caboose, is it custom made with decals?
Yes. It was made by a San Antonio modeler who died. I picked it up at a train show in New Braunfels for $5. It is exquisite work. The SAAP dead ended here in Kerrville.
Nice video
Love your videos!!! Love bamboo rods and trout
Oooh that Hardy Bros. Click...gotta love it!
Nice, I have the same rod that I built from a blank
Great shot
Very good looking rifle there. Those pellets are always fun to sling.
Great fight
beautiful backyard.. wow you can shoot in your back yard..?? i wonder which State
I love your videos
Nice😁 Love the HW30. A Hawke Vantage or Airmax 2-7 will fit the HW30 even better. Try the JSB Express 7,33 gr. Cheers Mate!
I tried the 2-7 but got better accuracy with the 3-9 because of the better magnification.
Beautiful finish!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Was hoping you would tell what made the shadows of sunlight coming thru an oak tree shaped like that . It looked like a beautiful carpet on my porch . Never seen it like that before .
I added in the description. Funny shadows caused by the Ring of Fire during the eclipse.
I had those on my driveway in San Antonio today too. I snapped a couple images. I’ve never noticed those in years past.
Thanks for taking us along, Bill!
Nice start to the Autumn season . Beautiful bass .
That Guadalupe Bass had beautiful bright colors. Glad you can find water where you are. Everything is just about dry in Comal County.
Glad you found some water. Nice fish too!
Great stuff Bill🤙🏻
Great story on the rodcase Bill. Love your videos
Thank you for doing what you can to take care of this little deer . Kind hearts will be rewarded .
