Thanks for sharing, I would have been about 11 years old then and it shows how little Brighton and Hove has changed except for the traffic of course.
Houses awful now.
just as I remember as a kid, born there in 1963 and grew up there until 1985. Much better then than now.
Glad it brought back good memories
Happy Days.xx.r.
The cigarette advert on bus at 1:25 and the Cooltan advert on the side of the bus at 6:52 is c. 1963/65.
Well spotted - thanks
I grew up in Hornchurch in the 60's. Great footage.
It's a bit too fast.. 16 frames per second (standard 8 mm) scanned at 24 fps, possibly?
I’m sure you are right. Adjusted playback speed to 75% of original
@@mickw2857 That's good of you.. Thanks. (More running time, eh?)
Thanks for posting
Thanks! I grew up in Cranham in the 1960's/70's, good to see the old High Streets and leafy Hall Lane. Much as I remember, just less crowded!
Wow 👌 4k one day
Excellent
Thanks
Gold dust 😁
Glad you liked it
I was born in Upminster Bridge back in 1955 and so am familiar with every second of this lovely film. Upminster and Hornchurch were peaceful towns in which to live and the one thing that strikes me is how empty the roads were back then. I’m guessing the footage taken in Hornchurch around the White Hart was on a Sunday as it looks deserted. Thank you for this, it bought back the halcyon days of my childhood.
Thanks for your kind comments. I'm of a similar vintage - went to St Joseph's primary school in Upminster in the early 60's
@@mickw2857 It was Branfil Primary and Junior for me.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. There is something magical about the mundane when it’s not here anymore
Great footage. It's nice to know that someone all those years ago had the foresight to film everyday high streets, etc. Great memories!
Hi there, we've been enjoying seeing this. (especially as we make youtube walks in soulful cities and have just filmed in the area), so it's really interesting to see the contrast. Thanks for taking the time to add it.
