Spurn Lightship makes its final journey to new home

On Tuesday 27 February, the lightship made a short journey to a permanent berth close to Murdoch Connection, taking prime position in Hull Marina once again. Arctic Corsair restoration update summer 2023

As part of a major project to protect, preserve and showcase Hull's key maritime treasure, the Arctic Corsair is being restored and this film gives you a glimpse of the work being done. Once restored, the trawler will move to a dry dock at North End Shipyard where she will shine once again. Funded by Hull City Council and The National Lottery Heritage Fund.     That is a great job done I believe she will be a very attractive for visitors. I should ask this pending question berfore but perhaps I try this time. Was she built with a birdge in a superposition or was it a later modification for a better view and additional cabins gained. I have not found her photos with a lowered bridge but there are for other bigger trawlers like Arctic Vandal with both i.e. lowered und raised bridge.

    it's great to see this lightship being restored. these ships are a art of maratime history and they need to be restored and placed on display for all to see. i was a lightship sailor while i was a member of the US Coast Guard so i know what importance these ships play in our history both here in America and in the United Kingdom. good luck and following seas.

    Does somebody knows where the painting of the Norland at the Foyer went, and have you maybe a link to that painting, I remember it was quite impressive, showing the Norland in Falkland Sea, and Bombs on the side of the ship detonating, missing it.

    Anyone who would like to know more, Reg Kemp (the first man on the right you see I think) and Michael Wood have written a very good book on MV Norland's Falklands war 'MV NORLAND SECRET WEAPON OF THE FALKLANDS WAR' From North Sea Ferry To Task Force Assault Ship. I've just read it and it has been nice to see some of the faces I've just read about. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to know more.

    My dad was crew on the Norland, my absolute hero and sadly no longer with us Karl Tungate. He was Hull through and through and that ship and the time he spent on it with his fellow shipmates meant the world to him. So proud of you all. Thank you for all you did and all you still do 🖤xx
