Hi, I’m Darius, a composer specializing in music for films and games. My journey in the arts began in childhood, where I combined my passion for both music and visual arts. After studying Visual Arts in secondary school and piano at a music academy, I expanded my creative horizons by composing themes for characters in my graphic novel, a project that led me to pursue music composition at LUCA Lemmens (BE).
I’m currently furthering my studies at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where I continue to refine my craft. On this channel, you’ll find my original compositions, piano performances, unique arrangements, and more. I frequently collaborate with my best friend and fellow composer, Noah Bots, whose creative partnership is an integral part of my work.

Incentives for harp solo | Darius Van Oeckel
⚫︎ This is my first piece for harp solo “Incentives”. The piece explores the theme of overstimulation, a state many of us experience in today’s chaotic world. It begins with arpeggios again, but does not follow a clear melody. The piece revolves around the CaugM7 chord, with the bass note often plucked on the downbeat, acting as a pedal tone. The piece reflects overstimulation through sudden dynamic shifts, overlapping rhythms, and lingering tension. For the harp part, I used techniques like harmonics, bisbigliando, and glissandi to enhance the intensity and depth of the music, creating a stimulating sensation.
