2024 Bright Ideas – Liberty County & McIntosh County
The Coastal Electric Bright Ideas Prize team surprises teachers with over $40,000 in grants to fund their Bright Ideas! Learn about the projects coming to Liberty County and McIntosh County area schools, funded by Bright Ideas Education Grants from the Coastal Electric Cooperative Foundation. Bright Ideas Education Grants are made possible thanks to generous customers who allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the next dollar through Operation Round Up. Those nickels and dimes are pooled together and invested back into the community through the Coastal Electric Cooperative Foundation. So, thanks to YOU, your small change makes a big difference. See our other video of our Bright Ideas Grant awards in the Richmond Hill area School System. And a big "thank you" to every amazing educator who invested the time to apply. We're proud of the work you do every day for our students.

The old Coastal Utilities telephone central office at the corner of Hwy 17 and Ford Avenue in Richmond Hill is gone to make way for a new Parker's Market. The building and the nice mural, painted by local artist Chris Walker, came crashing down just after noon. But don't despair. Even though this was Chris' first and probably most popular mural, he has already been commissioned to paint a repla...

For the how many lineman are needed, there are usually 2 bucket workers, a crane operator(might be foreman), 1 or 2 ground people, and a foreman. So 4-6 people. Don’t forget floggers though but that depends on what road you are on.

Bury electrical lines. Poles are just asking troubles with mother nature
Easy to say. Much harder to do.
@@Harrier42861 It's easy to do but cost a little more. Electrical poles are so 19th century,
@@streetcar6080 new constructions actually have underground utility lines
Expensive, hard to access, and many other reasons.
Man watching this video brings back memories of my elementary I moved away at the end of 4th grade now I’m in 8th
Same, I moved from here in 2017 when I was in the 3rd grade, those were the good days
allahu bless you care and health for work I am Indian (Kerala)god's own country Lineman Navas
I tried for 15yrs to get into this line of work. I applied at every single Electric Utility and Cooperative in the states of Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nebraska and what ever I've forgotten. The years were 1985-2000 and not once was I allowed to test/interview for anything. For the record, I maintained a clean work record, driving record, criminal record, always have, no exceptions. I even worked for TCI-Cablevision, the largest CATV at the time just to prove I could climb. Also, got a CDL driver's license too. Clearly I applied at all the wrong places including In Bred Electrical Worker Locals-1&2, Local 2 has a Lineman classification. I'm glad to see that there is shortage of Electrical workers. The Electrical Industry over all suffers from a high degree of NEPOTISM! Today I'm the night shift Electrical Foreman for Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. If it wasn't for my age and Arthritis I would try again. My sand box is less than 5000 acres, but we still manage to have some fun.
Electric wires cause cancer.
Why do they put those orange towels on the lines?
So they wont conduct electricity just in case
🤦♂️ really?
Have a few pieces. It’s made of non conductive rubber so if a live phase touched the coverup, it would not arc and destroy a crossarm/pole or cause a dangerous situation.

I spent 42 years in linework. I just retired and miss the workers and work. I was told I actually worked over 58 years if I added in the overtime. I'd do it all over again if I could!

In civilized countries this is safely underground. The USA is such a third world country in matters of infrastructure hahahah!
the most ridiculous thing is that high voltage lines are so close to houses and on wooden poles...why they still use wooden poles?
Because it takes less then half the time to restore power then under ground.....and half the cost.
Guess what moron? most countries have at least some above ground lines INCLUDING EUROPE so by your dumb brain all countries are third world
I have been to 114 countries and your statement is asinine if you think our power infrastructure is 3rd world. I have seen 3rd world and no….. just NO! We do need to focus on building new infrastructure across the country but our worst infrastructure is better than the best 3rd world.
@@SicakGemb wood poles costs on average 400 dollars. Concrete polls are 4K each. Metal is 2.5k each and the cost to install concrete or metal costs about 5k. A wood pole about 1k. So electric boards work on a fixed per year budget. So utilities obviously go with the cheapest so the budget can cover payroll along with the general things that tear up along with maintaining and buying new equipment. You should have drawn the same conclusion out of common sense that it’s always a budget that determines what materials are used.
