How often do you need to change the carbon on the EC5? They told me every 180,000 gallons, and it’s going to cost a little over $600 for new media with service call!
Let me guess, your system is better.
There are many better than this one. There are also some better than the ones I sell
A red flag to me is someone who beats a product to death, yet won’t offer any alternatives. Thanks anyway for your opinion. Be it warranted or otherwise.
I have other videos on what I recommend. And a lot of what I recommend isn’t even what we personally sell
@@purewatersales537 I see. Thank you.
Been thinking of you in the past few months no video, but know you are busy, hope all is well and your new grandbaby. Our csi is working great. Dave and Shirley from Selma,. NC
Hope yall are well!! I’m still around. Planning on getting back to videos in the next couple weeks. It’s been too long but we have enjoyed this first year with the baby!
What do you recommend?
CSI is my top choice, Rainsoft EC4, water tight evolve series are the next 2
I just purchased a Ec-5 recommissioned one. The salesman said oftentimes, these recommissioned ones are better than the new ones because they have all new parts within and have 2 sets of eyes. I was able to get it for $5,200 with 5 years of soaps/cleaning products. I live in Houston,TX. In your opinion, is a recommissioned one a good idea? I asked where do these "recommissioned" ones usually come from and he said typically a person that passes away or someone that stops making payments on their system. Wondering if that is really true? Also, for any house that already has corrosion of all the filth hard water makes in piping, does a water softener system really still have a significant effect on drinking water if it is still passing all that crap in the pipes? I had a water hardness level of an 8.
Hey Crystal sorry for the delayed response. Chances are your system isn’t a reconditioned one and if it was a used or one that someone didn’t make payments on I doubt they changed the resin. Normally when someone finances a water system it’s a unsecured loan so they don’t really repo them. However any EC5 with a warranty is a decent system as long as you have proof of purchase since Rainsoft warranties seem to only be to the original owner. The water system will def make the water better. Whatever is in the pipes has prob hardened to the point it’s not coming through in the water anymore. I do always recommend a reverse osmosis at point of use if that is a concern for you.
Very good info!
NIce video, agree with you that maintenance cost an arm and a leg.
Yea it can be affordable depending on the dealer but most are crazy high
Hello. Thanks for your video. I live in Edmonton, Canada and use Aquasana for about 10 years I think. Can't really complain as it was serving us fairly well at least removing chlorine. Now it got clogged over the course of time and needs a replacement, however looking at their website there's no more mentioning of their system removing anything but chlorine and chloramine as opposed of a few years back where there was a big range of supposedly filtered contaminantes. So now being confused I started to shop locally and been introduced to Fleck systems. Do you have any opinion on these? Thank you.
Fleck is a decent but cheaper system. If maintained right it could last 12-15 years
What average cost of an ec5 system
Depends on the area but I see them anywhere from 5500-8500
Thank you so much, this was very educational and thank you for the savings
Why do i get the feeling that his company doesn't or can't sell Aquasana but can sell Pelican or others? My red flag is a review or recommendation that is contradictory (the Aquasana can cost $2K or more but the Pelican which can cost $2500 is cheaper?), or factually wrong (Aquasana is not selling a salt-free water *softener,* they're selling a water *conditioner* and say they do not do anything to reduce water hardness or TDS). Also, my city/county (in Western NC about 2hrs from Charlotte) does not require a plumber or permits for a whole house water filter system. I don't know if I'm going to get an Aquasana or SpringWell or something else, but this review didn't provide any reliable or trustworthy information to help me make my decision.
We could have easily signed up as a dealer for them but choose not to. Price vs cost of ownership are totally diff things. Springwell does seem to have decent reviews. And I would def double check with your permit office to make sure you don’t need a permit. Most countries in NC do require when cutting pipe to pull a permit.
I’ve had a whole house system for 5 yrs. We love it! No scale just crystal clear water! No problems with system
Thanks for the video. Good info! You mentioned that rain soft is in your top five for equipment. What are your other four in the top five? Or what is your opinion on EcoWater or Kinetico?
I love CSI, Water right is good, some of the clack stuff is cheap but dependable
What is the best system then to get rid of the NASTY chlorine taste and feel in my water. We have city water in a small Texas town in a new built community and although hardness and pH level are OK, the chlorine taste has us looking for a whole house water filtration system that is affordable and efficient. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
Get you a backwashing activated carbon system. Something is coconut ash would work well
I had Aquasana whole house system for 3 years and everything this gentleman says is accurate. I was only surprised he did not speak of the extreme pressure lost as the carbon filters began to clog after 18-24 months. We were not able to run two faucets simultaneously. Aquasana is a complete waste of money.
Thank you for the positive feedback.
You are a salesman and Aquasana is your competitor. Shocking that you don’t recommend their product 😂
I recommend companies all the time that are my competitors. Actually had a guy call last week that bought a house and wanted a system. He had a Rainsoft EC5 and I told him NOT to buy my system because what he had was a very nice system that will do the job.
You are misinformed.
How so? This is my personal opinion from dealing with them in the field with customers.
Do you service Leland, NC?
We do. Sorry I didn’t see this
If you are thinking about the rain soft water treatment system please reconsider. We got the system August 2022 for just under $10,000. We thought it would be a great investment. By February 2023, we had a potent sulfur smell coming from the faucets. If you know what rotten eggs smell like then you know what sulfur smells like. The company came and chlorinated the lines. By April the smell came back and they came and chlorinated the lines again. One month later in May the putrid smell returned, this time a manager came and chlorinated the lines. Initially they tried to blame my water heater but it was only the cold water that had the problem. They then said it was the water in my county because it requires chlorine because the water is bad and the system removes chlorine causing bacteria to grow. My question was why sell a system to residents in a county that the REQUIRES chlorine. In June the smell returned in one faucet and someone came and told us to change a line we changed it and the smell remained. Now October 2023 the smell has returned. Since the one year warranty is up I will be charged for them to come and service this system. Although this has been an ongoing unsolved problem for my family. Having gone through this process, I would not accept this system if it was offered free of charge. The company claims that the system filters out sulfur, this system CAUSED the rotten egg smell. My next door neighbor got the system after us in March and the SAME exact thing is happening to them right now. Please do your research there are other systems out there that do not cost this much and definitely do not cause these problems.
so i thought i had a decision made for ourselves as well our son's house before our plumbing on our new builds starts in 2 weeks but after seeing this i do not know for sure now. I was leaning toward the springwell system then the aquasana system now i am more confused.
There is a whole rabbit hole you can go down looking into these. My best advice is find a company you trust and consult with them. I’m of course partial to what I sell but mainly because I have customers all over the country and never really have issues with them
I’m a Rainsoft manager from China grove! Live in Richmond, but I’m there every other week! Reach out let me buy you a drink!
Let me know when you’re back in town!
Aquasuana whole house filtration systems have a warranty of 10 years or 1 million gallons filtered, whichever occurs first! Not sure where he gets 3 years from? Also, Aquasauna systems are cheap annually to maintain!
They have diff level systems with diff gallon ratings. Or there did at the time of this video
I have not only 1 Pro whole home aquasuana system, I have 2. I have one at my home and one at my office. I was so impressed with the 1st system I bought a second. Ive had both for over 5 years and have ZERO complaints. My plumber charged roughly $400 for complete install. This included installing a gallons meter so I can see exactly how many gallons of water has been filtered. I would purchase again! I believe this guy means well but I don't agree with his presentation.
Did you say 4 Hundred to install? I'm being charged 4 THOUSAND 😮
Is the ec5 worth 10k?
Honestly not even close to that.
We have a Rain Soft water filtration system for about 5 years now, we paid about $5500, but there was a class action lawsuit here in Florida and we got about $3500 back in the settlement.
I don’t know what it is about the Florida rainsoft dealers but when you look at the online unbiased reviews it seems like 60% of the negative ones are all from Florida. I know that y’all have had water but seems like that would make it easier not harder
Whaaaat?? How do I get in on the Settlement??
If you are in florida I’d reach out to the attorney general there and ask
This is a great option for my house in Mexico.
If it won’t get much use it may work
I do get the point of the UV being redundant on city water however there are stories where people have gotten fatally sick when city water plants had failures and organisms were able to grow in city water. It is a fairly cheap insurance policy!
But we’re those things a cheap UV light would kill? And also how much chlorine was in the water, most have enough to kill about anything already.
Im in an apartment with access to the hot water tank. Is there any full system to accommodate me?
Do you have a individual shut off to your unit?
@@purewatersales537 i believe i do, there are a couple pipes and levers. So you're saying its possible then😊
If you have a water shut off to your unit it is possible. Also if they will allow you to cut the plumbing if you don’t own the unit.
@@purewatersales537 something tells me permission would not be granted. Worth a shot at asking though after i get a grasp at what im looking at in the boiler room. Thanks for your insight

This might be just a multiple part question Do you have recommendations for filtration system for wells it seems you do mostly residential municipality water systems Do you service older systems? Are you just into retail sales of new ones? And the mistrust with water filtration companies and there are a lot of them. We truly don't know who to trust We hear different stories trying to solve the same problems So honestly most of the time we don't know which way to turn to resolve water purification issues
Poems? I do service older systems when they are working correctly. I mainly retail new commercial and residential systems however if we come across a used system that is working I have taken over the service to get them the longest life possible out of it.
@@purewatersales537 you have to love Google voice typing it misspells my voice every time I did correct it
I do about 60/40 we’ll and city. On a well you really want to know the PH and the iron levels as well as hardness. I have actually tested some wells that were perfect.

Thank you! I just bought an ec5. I'm on a well. I'm very excited 🎉
Double check your hardness setting. I’ve noticed a lot of rainsoft dealers set it much higher than it really is so it uses more salt
What water system does you like
I personally sell CSI, but rainsoft EC4 and water right are also good options.
This is a great video. Thanks for posting. We have a Rainsoft Gold system that we purchased in 2004. This system has been installed in three different homes. When we installed our system in our new home in 2016, our dealer replaced the resin. Lately, we started getting letters from my water company our water usage indicated we had a leak. I thought it was my irrigation system, but it turns out that our Rainsoft system was constantly running to drain, similar to others that have posted here. I put my system in bypass and called my dealer. They had a technician come out and the technician indicated that more than likely our electronics were malfunctioning and he suggested that we replace our system. He offered us a deal to upgrade our system to a EC5 for around $3400. If we purchase a carbon tank, that is an additional $890 (not sure of the value due to needing a carbon change every other year for $300). The technician indicated that they no longer sell or recommend EC4 units, due to issues they have had in maintaining these systems. Since our unit is 19 years old, we are considering upgrading our system. If I could get a EC4 head for the price another user indicated their dealer charged, is that a better option than a full upgrade? We would appreciate your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Shoot me a message or call the number on the website. I actually have a EC4 head that’s been checked out I could sell you for much cheaper. www.pureh2osales.com
Longer videos are better. When it comes to water information more is better.
Thank you for the feedback!!
In 2007 we had the EC4 installed. We are on a shallow well fairly hard water. The original installer removed my 2 sediment filters and told us it would void the warranty. About 5 years later when servicing the unit they said the resin bed was filled with sediment. Yeah big surprise. So we added a 25 micro paper filter and the resin bed was replaced under warranty. Now the unit is 16 years old, the valve is sticking and needs to be serviced, the salt tank is full of water, the resin bed seems to degraded, and the control module sometimes flickers, kinda like it wants to fail. So should i repair or replace it??
If you have all those issues I would replace it. However sediment should not void a warranty. My contact info is on my website www.pureh2osales.com. Feel free to give me a call and I’ll see what I can do to help you
Home Depot sells it, so the manufacturer is removed from the equation.
Home Depot is selling Aquasauna? Most Home Depot’s have a contract with Rainsoft in most states. Big contract for them. They get 8-12% of the sales depending on the rainsoft dealers volume
@@purewatersales537 Aquasauna is owned by AO Smith, so they have a foothold.
AO smith also bought out water right
I was quoted $8,500 for the EC5 QRS water filtration system along with the reverse osmosis. Is this overpriced or about average?
That’s normal for Rainsoft and other big dealers. I’m half of that for my customers. And the equipment is just as good
@purewatersales537 hello how do I get one of your water filters installed in Florida?
I’m sorry I never saw this comment! My contact info is on the website www.pureh2osales.com. Feel free to give me a call and I’ll help you out
Would rather go for a more conventional backwashing filter
That’s always a better option. If you need any help reach out to us anytime.
Thank you for the thorough explanation! I have a quick question. We have very hard water in our house and there are white sediment every time we use tab water. Would you recommend investing our money on installing a system that descale and condition the water using salt and an ion exchange system (Puronics Defender) or buy a salt-less system like Halo 5?
Def don’t go with salt less. Normally if you are getting sediment I would do a salt softener and a 5 micron sediment filter after the softener. 99% of the time that takes care of it
What does csi stand for? And how much is it ? I wk wh but they want 75-8500 losing customer in ft laud
My avg price is 4500. My website www.pureh2osales.com
I have psoriasis that became worse when I was showering daily. I stopped showering for about a month and is almost completely gone! Doctors want to blame it on your body and that you should take medication for life, when in reality is that the body is doing what its supposed to. Your oil protection on your skin is destroyed by the hard water, so psoriasis occurs as a way to protect you from it. When you use medication and prevent your body from forming plaques, the hard chemicals enter into your muscles and a skin condition turns into something terribly wrong called psoriatic arthritis. My uncle had it, he couldn't move his hands, his whole body was red and inflamed. He died at 53 from gut complications (they flushed their intestines which made them twist). Big pharma is going to kill you 100% if you go their ways.
Man that’s a lot of great information! Was you able to get it under control without medication? Sorry to hear about your uncle. 53 is way too young to go.
@@purewatersales537 Yes, I stopped medication a year ago but it wouldnt go away as I kept showering daily. I started to use oil on the plaques to give it a better appearance but they kept coming back and in different spots. I had to go cold turkey with everything and it was super embarrassing because it was mainly on my face and I felt people would just stare at me forever. I feel this prevents a lot of people from healing because you have to use something to cover it, which inhibits a long term solution. I also had chronic bloating (2-3 daily episodes for 3-4 years) and I couldnt tell what was the cause. I switched to distilled water (store bought) about a month ago to cook and drink and so far, havent had any bloating.
Get you a decent RO and that will give you the same quality and save you a lot of money in the long end. Unfortunately people do like to stare, people like to just be jerks sometimes and I hate that about the world we live in. I’m glad you are facing it and getting it all fixed!
@@purewatersales537 I will! Thanks for the recommendation.
Congrats on the grand baby!
Thank you sir!
Welcome to the club... now ya gotta catch up to me. 😆
You must have been upset with this company.
Not really upset, just been doing this 12 years and never ran across one that world as advertised after 6 months
I totally liked your explanation about the water softeners and demerits about aquasana... 50% discount could be a red flag, but usually they up the prices and offer the discount. While 50% discount is a red flag, most of the other water softener and your recommended product websites don't really put the prices on their website so they don't know what their worth is or they are not transparent about it?
That is another issue, most places will offer a discount, I do also…however 50% is insane. As far as pricing I have mixed feeling about that. When your prices are out there like mine are on my website I do loose some customers because they are price shopping. Sometimes the most expensive system is also the worst and some of the cheaper ones are junk so there is a lot more than just price that goes into it. Most companies will want to talk and educate the customer before giving prices.
Hi Joey, great info thank you for your videos. Do you sell or have customers in California? 😂. We’re actually in the market for a filtration system, and we have an appointment with rain soft to come test our water and do their whole demonstration in a few days.
I do! I have several in California. Feel free to give me a call. My number is on the website www.pureh2osales.com
Did you get your water taken care of out there?
1. Water hardness is the mineral saturation in the water. Filtering out the Calcium and magnesium will soften the water without having to add salt that clumps with those minerals to make them settle out of the water easier. 2. Paper doesn't discolor in water... The collection of rust which is very common in water systems builds up due to collection in the filter... If you place a white piece of paper in filtered water it will not "Discolor"...
White paper will not discolor if it is in pure water. That is correct. However it will absorb any impurities in the water causing it to discolor. Not sure I understand your question fully though.
So to summarize your gripes with this system: (1) there are redundant components to the filtration system (e.g., UV light, extra filtration stages), (2) you can’t backwash the filter, and (3) the tanks are disposable. Regarding UV, fine just don’t purchase that add-on if you don’t need it. Regarding the no backwash… would be nice to be able to backwash the main filter but the pre and post filters are cheap and easily replaceable so backwashing isn’t necessary with this system. The fact that the tanks (i.e., main filter and softener) are disposable is actually a plus in my mind - quick and easy system maintenance… and they are supposed to last 10 years and 6 years respectively (not 3-5 years as you mention here) sooo not seeing any issues here. To each their own though!
Thanks so much for that summary.
Going on 3 years with the Aquasana System with all of the bells and whistles. Absolutely love it and can now drink the water and it tastes good! I change the pre-filter every month and the post-filter every three months. While it may not be the best system for everyone, it works perfectly on my well water system.
I’m glad yours works! As a “water guy” my main goal is help as many get clean water as possible. Even if that means a diff system than what I sell personally
