Russian officials do not believe in orca ecotypes
Переглядів 38412 років тому
(Turn on the subtitles!) Russia is currently the only country where capturing orcas for aquariums is allowed. Every year All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) recommends to capture ten orcas in Okhotsk sea. Russian scientists from Far East Russia Orca Project protest against captures and claim that there are two orca ecotypes that must be counted separately. On th...

    These comments all seem to speak the same thing. IT'S WRONG TO CAPTURE GODS MAGESTIC CREATURES! Not JUST Orcas. The world would be better to show our animal counterparts some respect and compassion. "Slavery" is always wrong no matter what kind of animal, whether it be human or otherwise. But many humans think they have the right to do as they please without any consequences. Shame on us!

WE KNOW America informs guides and supports other nations in the capture and keeping of Orcas ... WE KNOW America trades Orca's globally .. Is this Ti’uk or Lemon? Is iceberg the father? Is this the same or different pod? All the whites are found between Russia and Washington state right?

    • @alazor1234
      @alazor1234 5 років тому

      No, it is in the Kuril Islands, about 1000 km south of the Commanders where Iceberg and Lemon were sighted. See more details here www.researchgate.net/profile/Alexander_Burdin/publication/307518125_White_Killer_Whales_Orcinus_orca_in_the_Western_North_Pacific/links/57ce64c908ae83b37460ed0f.pdf

      This was filmed in Russian waters. T'luk is a North Pacific transient. His family doesnt travel that far. Unless a dna test can be done on both white orcas, it is impossible to know who the father is of this whale.

    this is incredible! I've noticed others in CA have mentioned lunge feeding. In CA do the humpbacks only lunge feed or do they bubble net as well, like they do in AK?

      Yes, but one-by-one, each whale making its own bubble net, not alltogether like in Alaska.

    While this capture was unethical, save me your ideological dribble about it being "prison". Killer whales in reputable facilities are living longer and healthier lives than their wild relatives, far outperforming them in breeding success.

      Frida Nyberg bullshit..they die younger in captivity. Do your research

    • @CleverClover2023
      @CleverClover2023 4 роки тому

      OMG do you ever shut the fuck up! It is proven that lifespans of killer whales in captivity are very much shortened. It is proven that they suffer from chronic stress which leads to health issues and behavioral issues. It is proven that these animals will never be able to thrice or be happy in a tank. You think wild caught cetaceans are 'rescued'! You see nothing wrong with illegal captures. You thought it was funny that they were freezing to death! Even going so far as to make fun of people and organizations who fought to release 100 illegally caught orcas and belugas. News flash sweetheart, all those whales were cold released and have adapted just fine! You dont seee an issue with Taiji or the Farose. Seeing dolphins violently captured and slaughtered doesnt bother you as long as you can see them being forced to perform tricks. Your disgusting and mental blog goes out of its way to try and justify the captures and downplay the abuse and torture dolphins go through. I will never be able to comprehend how someone can be so heartless and stupid. For someone who thinks they know everything...you know NOTHING!

I'll chase him round Good Hope, and round the Horn, and round the Norway Maelstrom, and round perdition's flames before I give him up. And this is what ye have shipped for, men! to chase that white whale on both sides of land, and over all sides of earth, till he spouts black blood and rolls fin out"

      this particular individual is a "lone orca" I actually think this is a she. it looks about full-grown and when it surfaces, it's dorsal fin is quite short. though it could just be a sprouting male.
