A Relic of Socialist industry: Hand-Crank Grinder Restoration
In this video, I’ll take you through the full restoration of an old hand-crank grinder. It was a time-consuming project, but seeing the final result makes it all worth it!
I started by completely disassembling the grinder. Every single part was cleaned and sorted to decide what could still be used. The pieces that needed it got sandblasted back to their former glory. I replaced the bearing, eliminated any play, and even trued up the grinding stone to make sure it works as it should. Finally, I gave the whole thing a fresh coat of hammer finish spray paint for a sturdy and classy look.
Now, I’ll be honest - this is my first video on this brand-new channel, so it’s far from perfect. I made a few mistakes, especially when it came to painting. Let’s just say my choice of primer wasn’t exactly top-notch, and I could’ve gone with better paint. But hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day, right? 😊
