This movie was my favorate in last 10 years. the words are so delicate and poetic, funny, soft and so precise on situation. The last words but the propose can be the best love confession I've ever heard.

    The fact that Melvin has an abundance of money has nothing to do with the longevity of the relationship made up of pure, unconditional love. Nothing to do with it at all.

    My mom told me when I watched this movie for the first time a few weeks ago on Netflix that when she and my dad went to see this in theaters when it first came out and at the part where Melvin and Carol were going into the bakery and the door opened and he took a step back and put his foot on the crack and the audience and them cheered and screamed

    How to write a great script. His character finally has all barriers break down. He finally breaks down in his own wall of insecurities for the woman he loves. But he's not perfect. He's still flawed, he's still a work in progress. His arc comes full circle. And the last shot is him acknowledging he's let go of his self defense mechanism of OCD.

    This is my fav film! As soon as he said "Spence" her face changed. It just shows women want to be heard. (Don't want to speak for all women) But seriously she changed him in the film. I don't think he was truly a horrible person, just misunderstood! They both acted so brilliantly!

    • @doctorfritznoel
      @doctorfritznoel 3 роки тому

      I also feel his horrible behavior showed how afraid he was in this world. Meeting Carol gave his life meaning and to not be afraid. The fact that she kept serving him in the restaurant was a sign for him that he did not have to be afraid anymore.

    I love this movie, I've seen it over and over. And will continue to see it again. Such a feel good happy movie. Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt are great together. It may have taken them a long while to end up together, but it was well worth the ride. Greg Kinnear (sorry if I spelled that wrong) he was awesome, loved his adorable dog, and how he and Jack Nicholson eventually ended up becoming friends. Nice to see how a lonely man with many quirks can change his life around, when he finds love and friends.
