Oh, I remember the Bensonhurst murder 35 years ago. New York was off the chain during those turbulent days. I think somebody else in that crowd shot Yusef Hawkins and it's possible that Fama and other witnesses knew who was the real shooter. Fama was a young man with mental health issues at the time. Because Fama carried a unlicensed firearm, i think he paniced and went on the run. Sometimes that happens and doesn't mean he was guilty of the crime itself. Whether Fama was a racist or not, he was only guilty for being at the scene because of his curiosity.

I think joeseph fama got a raw deal because the state of New York was unable to prove that he shot yusef hawkins on that August 1989 evening. The only problem I saw was Fama carried a gun and went to the scene after hearing there was going to be a fight. Fama admitted, he and his friends were heading outside of the area for the night. Oh well, Fama should have stuck to his first plan and proceeded out of that neighborhood. Maybe, he would not have to sit years in prison. But if nobody claimed to have seen Fama shoot Yusef Hawkins, why is he still sitting in prison for a second degree murder? He could've just got the same charges that Keith Mondello had. That is very fishy about that 35 year old case.

I don't care if Mondello apologize cuz apologies doesn't generally fix anything & it's not going to fix. Also apologies won't bring Yusuf back. Actions have consequences. Actions speak louder than words.

After watching many hours of The First 48, I notice when criminals are questioned about their crimes, they never say, "This is what I did," but rather "This is what happened." Or instead of, "I shot that man," it's always, "The man got shot." Mondello does it in this interview, talking as if he was not a participant in the crime. I'm sure 30 odd years later he is regretful of his youthful actions, but at some point, he has to say, "This is what I did to cause that to happen." As I drive through Bensonhurst these days, it is a far more diverse community.

The problem with these people who commit these diabolical kinds of crimes is that America has placed a higher value on suburban middle class Anglo-Saxon Americans as being the role model of the American dream, but the reality is that it's a nightmare filled with monsters; now society is making all kinds of excuses to defend their superficial segregated middle class nightmare a breeding ground for the monsters who looks like the boy or girl next-door. Just listen to how they describe these monsters and make all kinds excuses. In reality their just natural born killer caucasian psychopaths .....

I just have to add that it's not that unusual for the wife of an American President to be standing next to a mass murderer, America isn't a signatory to the ICC War Crimes Commission for nothing, murdering folks in Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and pushing Ukrainians to their deaths is kinda mass murdery imo

What was even more strange is he said that on a recording and then instantly after claimed he was innocent of everything lol
