Toy Parade - piano (piano practice) : Concert pianist or Expert opinion is needed December 21, 2024

About 2 months ago, I decided to learn the theme song to the 1950's and 1960's TV Show, "Leave It To Beaver". It sounds amazing when performed by an orchestra or symphonic band; however, I found an arrangement for piano that I find quite difficult to learn. I humbly request the input/analysis of the arrangement that I found online at "Musicnotes", By D. KAHN, M. LENARD and M. GREENE. While play...

Practicing Chopin's Op. 25 No. 9 - January 7, 2024

This is part of my continued journey with this piece. Currently working on a few issues: 1) Memory glitches, esp. the ones caused by the camera being on 2) Dynamics - to include proper use/timing of the pedal, and 3) Muscle memory enhancement - requires slower and louder practice using more pressure/force on the keys. Finally, I apologize for my ashy elbow as I was on the floor, before recordin...
Chopin Op. 25 No. 9 - practicing on December 21, 2023

I've been studying this piece for 2 & 1/2 months and as you will hear, I can definitely use 1 to 2 more months to put all the little pieces together. Thanks for watching and coming along this journey with me 😊.
Chopin Etude Op. 25 No. 9 - Practicing Chopin's Butterfly Etude
Переглядів 55Рік тому
This is my 2nd Chopin Etude (Study). I started this one near the end of September, 2023. Putting both hands together is one of the biggest challenges of this piece as it seems to alternate parrellel and counter motion along both the X and Y axis, meaning left to right and then forward/in and back/out from the piano; however within the next month I should be able to play comfortably through this...

Comments are highly welcomed! If there are any words of advice from you veteran and highly seasoned piano players, please put your comments here. So, here I am at the end of 7 months focusing on this study. I still have some work to do, so I'll continue with this study until I can play it smoothly and repeatedly without mistakes. Thanks for watching and listening to my videos, and do subscribe ...
Chopin Etude Op. 25 No. 1 - 3 passes (practicing)
Переглядів 19Рік тому
7 months working on this study. Still quite a bit to work on, such as timing, coordination of some of the jumps and note accuracy in a few of the more complicated sections. However, the short time with this study has really helped me with touch and sensitivity. I now better relate to the term "twinkling the ivories". I'm pretty satisfied with my results thus far, but there is still more work to...
Chopin Etude, Op. 25 No. 1 - 3rd upload, a work in progress
Переглядів 126Рік тому
This piece 1st resonated with me in December of 2022, shortly after the passing and transition of my 1st cousin, Kathy J. Greenfield, so near the end of January of 2023, I decided to begin working on it with a goal of being able to play it by May 9 which is Kathy's birthday. I didn't meet the target date; however, I continue to work on this piece so that I can master it before Christmas 2023. S...

Chopin Etude, Op. 25 No. 1 - 2nd upload - my work in progress
Переглядів 95Рік тому
I'm currently working on this Chopin study to honor the memory and legacy of my dear cousin Kathy J. Greenfield who passed away on Dec. 1, 2022. I was drawn to the soprano melody of this study, which is supported by a very heavenly-sounding base and treble chord that gives the impression of an Aeolian Harp. In this video, I first play only the right hand, then add the left hand for the 2nd pass...

Greetings, Michael! Did you start learning to play well into your adulthood? I'm curious about your journey -- your passion and persistence are evident in what you have posted. Good job on the slow practice of this masterpiece. Do you ever use a metronome?
Hey man, thanks for the question. Yes, I took my 1st official piano lesson at age 31, but I started learning music at age 10, playing clarinet through my sophmore year in college. So, at 31, I took piano lessons for about a year, and then self studied after that. With UA-cam at my disposal, its a blessing to have access to numerous recordings, from beginner level to concert pianist level, prior to and while working on a new piece. No, I've never invested in a metronome, but I do recognize the importance of one. I like the idea of stretching and squeezing the pace, i.e. using robato, that Chopin embraces. However, I have to really master a piece before I can really feel or hear where to use the robato. Hey bruh - many blessings to you and thanks for watching my video.
It's time for me to find the sheet music for this piece and work out the kinks, and play it just a tad bit slower 😊.

Thank you so much!
I apologize for the camera light going up and down. I'll use another camera for the next video - for sure.
These are so beautiful, same skates I was looking at.
Hey, can somebody please name the artist and the name of the song at 2:44. Thank you.
Hey guys, I just wanted to share my thoughts on the results with my 1st complete Chopin Study/Etude. This particular study really really works to further develop techniques that I was completely unfamiliar with prior to embarking on this "Study" journey. In this study, wrist rotation and flexibility, and finger delicacy or "twinkling the ivories" were two new skills that this piece demanded from me. Although the 1st few weeks through the 4th or 5th months seemed to be quite arduous, I persevered to reap the benefits. I'm currently finishing up with this piece. Also, the piano has been tuned, so the next upload will be "sweeter". Finally, I've started no. 9, a.k.a. "Butterfly Etude", so I look forward to sharing the results of that study as well. I'm very grateful for the UA-cam comunity and hope to connect with other UA-camrs as this journey continues. Much ❤, joy and ✌.
You got a polymer plate…”cross bar”. Your wheels may come with a coating on em. If so, it comes off with use. I used to let kids put my wheels on their skates to wear the coating off lol. They are slippery until the coating is off. Tightening the trucks makes them more stiff. Loosening gives them more flexibility. You can take the toe stop off and replace with a plug, if you dont use them.

After finally achieving op.10 no.1, I am currently learning this piece too, and I have to say that it's very interesting to see how other pianists practice. You made great progress, and I wish you all the best for your future pieces. Keep up the good work!
Good luck on learning the piece and God bless you and your family
Your piano playing skills are breathtaking. You're an absolute genius my guy. Bravo 👏 👏 👏
Hey Winston,, thanks for watching and listening to the early phases of my time with this study. I certainly appreciate your encouragement as I have gotten much farther with the piece than where I was in this video. The most recent upload was yesterday 6/15/23. Again, thanks.
Beautiful sharing❤❤❤
Hello, just wondering how long did it take to receive them after ordering?
If I remember correctly, 10 to 15 days. I don't remember waiting very long after I placed the order.
How them plates holding up G ?
The plates are holding up just fine. I haven't really worn the skates a lot, because I slacked off just before the COVID pandemic. So, pray that my inspiration comes along and rejuvenates me. 😁😁
What 3 do you have and which are your fave and why? Please.
My 1st pair of skates had metal wheels for outdoor skating. They were really fun for learning as I was 8 and 9 years old. My next pair I got in my early twenties. I don't remember the brand, but they've lasted me until now, about 30 years. I still have them, but the synthetic leather cracks and peels and leaves a mess on the floor or ground, and they are a little too tight for my feet. Therefore, I like my new Riedell's the best with the Roller Bones wheels. 😊😊🙌🙌
Wow 👏👏👏👏
Would these be good to ride outside for just cruising around and exercise?
Yes, they are fine for outside, just change the wheels to a softer wheel to absorb rocky or unsmooth surfaces. Then switch to a harder wheel for indoor skating. There are plenty of UA-cam videos discussing indoor versus outdoor wheels. Happy and safe skating, and peace out!
Great!!!
Yo what's that when u broke your skates in
Actually, I had to postpone breaking in my new skates while I finished graduate school. I may continue skating within the year. We'll have to see.
WHATS THE NAME OF THAT SONG I NEED TO BUMP THAT FOR THE SUMMER
I'm not sure what that lady is saying, but the DJ was mixing it with Shabba Ranks's "Mr. Loverman" before I started recording.
Teena Marie Shangri-La
Hi Mike...You have some good flow, so you just want to include a tighter pivot, learn the various hockey stops/plows, and do keep that head up like you are already doing. The best part of your skating is your pacing, and keep on going SLLLLOOOOWWWWWWWW. It builds muscle density, balance, and control.
Yes indeed, I'll go slow because I'm too old to be falling down on that hard wood floor. 😁😉
Hi Michael...I went from Modells to leather/forger plate, to SG Classis, to Silver Star/Snyder,and now with Edea, and about to get custom boots. If I did it again, I would start in the $400-500 ranger and go from there. No more sweat/hot boot issues, and even Reidell made their higher end boots lighter. The bar is to deal with torque and torsion when doing more advanced moves, especially jumps and high torque movements. Back before, plates would actually snap in two.
I just ordered the same skates you and was wondering if you could possibly make a beginner tutorial video on how to use skates and the basic’s ?
Where you order them from
Online. Most skate distributors will have them. Just do a search for Riedell skates, and you will not be disappointed.
💯
Thank you so much for this video! I've got Moxi's, and I'm getting my boyfriend into skating with these! I notice that these have the same plates too. How does the ankle feel for you?
Nice
Thanks for helping me skate better!
Really enjoyed your vlog! Something I'm having a hard time getting started!!! Now being in my 40s, I'm coming back to quad skating. My first pair of skates I got as a kid, I think my dad wanted us skating out of the womb. Because, we always had skates. My first gift wrapped skates, I was 5 years old. Then we gave up quads for ice skates, when we moved to Alaska. I ice skated, from the time I was 8 years old, until my 40s. When I moved away from where I can ice skate. So now, I'm coming back to quad skating. So far, in loving it. I got the Impalas, Chicago's and Roller Derby Cruzes. I don't care much for roller blading/ inline skates. I don't like the bulky look and feel.
Hey man, that's a great story. Glad to hear you are back into quad skating. I haven't skated consistently for about 4 years now, because I was in graduate school for about two years, and haven't reconnected with the sport due to the COVID setback. I do hope to continue some time in the future. Peace, love, and happy skating!
Is this like a practice session
Melissa, it was more like a warm up after having not been on roller skates in about 20 years.

Man that's my old stomping grounds. Many memories at Seabrook Rink in Lanham MD. Wow how they upgraded.
New owners. The previous owners were letting the place deteriorate. Glad they finally sold it. New floor, new lighting, furniture, new carpet, painted, new sound system. Still the same old rentals from the 60's and 70's though.
You legs look very flexible..You are going to do well skating because of it..
Oh, you are a gem and a goldmine of inspiration! 😘😘
New sub
I was thought the wheels and axles were called trucks? But I don’t know for sure?
Yes, that's right. That metal bar that goes from the inner wheel to the outer wheel is called the Truck, and it's bound to the skate's plates via the cushions and that big screw/bolt.
These guys make it look so easy. I'm so impressed.
I’m a really good skater, I’ve been skating for 4 years and I am able to do forwards, backwards and sideways.
Got to have leather boots
Or swade
Definitely - my next purchase.
Still learning to skate forwards lmfaoo this is so dope
