Sorry if I missed it somewhere but when can we expect your 2024 draft rankings to be published on your website?
It will be post on ToutSurLeHockey.Com I aim to release it during the week of june 17th - June 21th. I'm currently working on it (and the next videos I want to release) night and day (when possible). I'll probably make a quick UA-cam video to announce it.
From ''The art of scouting'', Craig Button talking about top end prospect defensive play. Craig Button inherited his belief that defensive play can be taught from his father, NHL Central Scouting founder Jack Button. He cites Mike Bossy as an example of a player who proves it. “When Mike Bossy was going into the Draft, people were saying, ‘He can’t check and he can’t do this.’ It came down to the New York Islanders’ pick, and Bill Torrey came over to my dad and asked, ‘What do you think about Mike Bossy?’ Dad said, ‘He’s an unbelievable player. I know his family well and he played on a junior team that was not very good. He has an unbelievable skill set and you have nothing to worry about!’ So Bill went back to Al Arbour and said, ‘We have a choice here, Al. We have a guy who could score 50 goals in the NHL. Now, he doesn’t check very well and doesn’t play defence at this time. We have this other guy who doesn’t have the high offensive skills, but he works really hard and has pretty good defensive awareness.’ Al said, ‘You give me the 50-goal scorer and I will teach him how to play defence.’ And the rest is history.”
Do Kamil Bednarik next
I won't have time but I did liked Bednarik early in the year.
6:13 might be the funniest quote I have ever heard but it’s very true. I still like his confidence with the puck but you make some valid points about his play with out the puck. Fantastic video once again can’t wait for Freij!
Haha, calling it as it is ! Thanks for the kind words.
I’m due up in my dynasty league draft. Do I go with this guy or Parascak at 32 overall?
I would go Parasack.
bedardemidov!!
He's predictable, one trick pony, feint inside backhand
Not passing to an open teammate that will lead the play to die, is a good decision
Definitely one of the hardest players to predict in this draft. A project for any team I’m sure. I look forward to the Trevor Connelly video!
How dare you take a week off from making this great content when I have a 5 round dynasty draft in a month 😂😂
Hahaha. Sorry brother.
Great evaluation. I'm hoping he slips to the Penguins at #44 or #46. Considering the amount of quality Defensemen in this upcoming draft, I think there's a chance he could slip (considering the over-age element).
Thanks man ! Yeah it's possible since he'll turn 20 in december. I watched a few playoffs games this week and I had to drop him a few spots (granted, I had a really bold stance on him). Skating was a bit of an issue in those games, I think I'll play safer a bit.
Hey great video! I had a question. How do you get all these clips? I would love to review old game tapes but I can’t find anything except live watching which is not something i’m willing to do.
Thanks ! I clip them myself while watching games.
@@SimonSt-L-Scouting Ok good to know! Keep up the great content!
@@AnthonyD2702 Thanks man !
Thanks for the work you do on these videos. They are some of the best out there in terms of how the commentary and video support each other. Good insights and comparison’s to other prospects.
Thanks a lot !
If he’s available at 7 the sens should take him. Reminds of giroux, undersized with very high iq and play making ability. Learning from someone like giroux would be a best case scenario for him.
To me… He is a Lane Hutson 2.0 but at 6’0 tall rather than 5’10. If that guy can get stronger in his lower body and therefore become more explosive in his acceleration… My gosh… sky is the limit for him. He is soooo smart. Great compete too. With just a bit mire acceleration & explosiveness in his skating, he’ll be a STAR
I agree that he is the closest thing to Lane. I don't think he's as smart offensively however.
Whenever I watch him play, I feel like he is Soooo soft or non-chalant. Like… you know for a a fact he has that strength & power in him. But it’s like he’s just lazy & doesn’t Feel like putting on the jets. Very frustrating player to watch. And Add to that : the fact that his hockey IQ is probably not the best (for me, decision making is intimately linked with Hockey IQ)
Anton Silayev?
I would LOVE to make a video on him, but from what I've been told, any KHL-related content are being signaled and removed from UA-cam. That's a shame because I would love to showcase to the public that he is in fact a very good defenseman and no, the NHL executives aren't simply in love with him because SIZE. He's my number 1 ranked D in this draft and it has been the case all season long.
Incredible report and thanks for including so many great highlights, feel like I know the player better now
Thanks a lot man ! Make sure to check the other videos too. And I still have atleast 6 others that I plan to make, maybe more.
Looks like Trevor Connelly but slower and more multifaceted.
I'm not a huge fan of Connelly. After Greentree, I'll make a video on Connelly.
Thank you for your breakdowns man
Thanks ! Pleasure is mine !
I heard a scout saying one of the most important aspect of a player for him for evaluation is the player’s progression through the year, and Sennecka had a significant progression this year. Look at these plays, I looked at other reports, he has good size, he is awesome. He has things to improve of course but I like him. If the Canadiens draft him with their 5th pick, it would be ok for me, they are the "expert", they know better than me.
Kid reminds me of Jason Spezza, especially the way he handles himself in traffic. Wonder if he can play center?? Excellent breakdown btw. I’ve watched several of your reports and gotta say…you’re really good at this stuff. Keep ‘em coming!
Thanks a lot !
Who's better Sennecke or Greentree?
Good question. It will be answered in the next video, but Sennecke. It's an interessting question because, like I said, at the start of the year, I saw Sennecke as a uy who would creep into the top 10 by the end of the year. I was right, however, there was some rough moment throughout the year for him. And as far as Greentree, I had a hard time grasping his game at first, but by December, his progression was insane ! At that point, he had the progression I would have thought that Sennecke would have. His skating improved and that changed his whole game (there's still some work to be done at this level) , he started taking over shifts once he realized that he wasn't anchored down by his skating and that he could cover more ground on the ice. Up until the month of April I had Greentree ahead, but I think his overall Hockey-Sense isn't that strong and a lot of it was covered by playing for a weak team where he had all of the leeway possible. Plus, in 20+ games, I saw him throw 5 hits, at best. Sennecke has some grit. But the Deal-Breaker for me is the Hockey-Sense, I think Sennecke edges him off by a good margin in that aspect.
@@SimonSt-L-Scouting I will surely watch that video
Sennecke!
Corey Perry if pans out.
I’d be fine with Habs taking this player if Demidov and Lindstrom are off the board at 5
I can see why Mtl Scouts are high on him, very shifty and agile with both scoring and playmaking abilities. His skating looks good too. Also fun player to watch, things happen around him. I haven't seen any games with him at all more highlights and reports like this one, really like what I see though. Like him much more than Iggy that some are very high on. Iggy is fine to me but this kid got more fantasy and hockey sense imo.
I'm onboard at 12-20, but at 5-10 - which is where he has vaulted up to lately - I'm really not comfortable making that choice.
Most people would be ok with Tij Iginla at 5th OA. Ironically enough, I think Sennecke’s ceiling is higher than Iginla’s 😂🤷♂️
montreal pick him with their 27 th overall pick
hes got a little of McDavid in him
Good analysis. Levshunov has all the basic tools but misses the flashes. He's effective in the MSU system but I'm not sure if he will in the NHL. That entire team plays a simple style and succeeds that way. Not many teams in the NHL are like that.
i imagine a team takes him very high with the bet/belief that they can get his effort/commitment to be more consistent. honestly feels like something chicago would either 100% believe they can fix, or 100% rule him out for
Very honest review of Levshunov’s game that I have not yet seen anywhere else. Love watching your videos to see a unique perspective. I share some of the same opinions of Levshunov’s game as he does not yet possess dynamic puck skills and relies on activation and funneling to generate offense, which he is very good at. I believe that he still has #1D potential if he improves on the relatively fixable concerns that you have highlighted. However I see his more likely projection as a higher end #2-4D on a good team who can be more effective with a parter who is able to do more of the heavy lifting at times. As a Hawks fan he does remind me a lot of Seth Jones stylistically.
Thanks for the kind words ! Means a lot ! You know what, now that you say it, I can see the comparison with Seth Jones. Good Catch. The team that drafts Levshunov high gotta hope that he'll round out his game and that he'll keep improving since High-Level Hockey is new to him.
I've been worried about the pace of play and skating effort from Levshunov a lot when watching reports over the last couple weeks, but you are the first person I've seen highlight when it's a detriment of his, awesome job, thank you!
Thank you very much !
He seems destined to go #3. Not good enough that Chicago has to pick him. But good enough that there is no reason for Anaheim to go with someone else since RD is their greatest need. He has such great tools and considering how little time he has spent playing at a high level, I think teams are very hopeful about his chances of rounding out his game and become close to a complete player. I guess Chicago could pick him as well if they plan on tanking another year and are eyeing Hagens, Martone, Misa, Frondell or someone like that next year, because defensemen tend to need more time to develop so you want to pick them early in your rebuild.
Anaheim has Tristan Luneau and Noah Warren all RD. I’m not impressed with Levshunov at all
@@ducksgo Cool beans.
But maybe they value Yakemchuk more. Also, Silayev has played on the Right-Side most of the season.
@@SimonSt-L-Scouting Silayev is under contract for 2 more seasons in the KHL. I don’t think he’s going in the top 6 to be honest. Maybe top 10 but that’s a long time to wait for a player
@@ducksgo I wouldn't mind waiting 2 years for him. I don't have any other D in the same tier as him. (To be fair, I've never been a big fan of 'Tier' ) BTW, Ducks needs to make their purple jersey their main one !
Thanks Simon
J'allais me coucher mais là j'avais besoin d'écouter ça!
Great video. I hadn't realized how good Yakemchuk's passing was for the most part, which is actually rather promising IMO for how he will turn out. With that said, one person I know said that they have concerns about Yakemchuk's ability to make retrievals in corners when he's under heavy forecheck pressure, and that they weren't sure if Yakemchuk could do it well enough to be a top pairing defenseman. Do you agree that there's a concern there? Also super looking forward to the Levshunov video
His footwork seemed more clunky at the start of the year. Later in the year I haven't really seen sequences where he was in trouble due to a lack of escaping-skills in retrieval.
Nobody else is making content like this. You are very appreciated.
Thanks a lot man ! Comments like this helps me to keep grinding hard on the content. Tons more to come in the next few weeks.
Is he your top D in this draft?
No, Silayev remains the first defenseman on my board. It has been the case all year. I would have love to make a video on him but I've been said that KHL-related content are all removed from UA-cam.
@@SimonSt-L-Scouting Are you planning on making a post or tweet with a summary of your thoughts? I'd be interested in hearing them, so would love to hear if there's a plan to do so or not.
@@praisethepuck I'll have a lenghty written profile on him in the ranking I'll post. I'm working hard on it, should have close to 50 000 words.
Ton anglais s'améliore big, good job! Continue ça!
Merci beaucoup !
🔥🔥🔥
You did well with the English brother. Lâche pas!
Thanks man. Not a whole lot of occasion to practice in Gaspésie haha.
Pray blackhawks take him
Thank you for putting this together, I'm excited to watch him and for what he can bring to the Sharks!
Pleasure is mine. Congrats for getting him at the lottery.
He's gonna be a Shark
Not if the wild pick him before
@@PrestonPrestige2112 I hope that’s true. I’d love to have Yakemchuck instead
@@damageinc346 haven’t watched his highlights but I don’t doubt he’s a great prospect
