Mastering Light & Airy, Moody, and Black & White Editing With ONE Lightroom Preset Collection!
Do you know how flexible Heirloom One presets are? Let me show you how to create several editing styles using the best Lightroom preset!
I actually didn’t intend to make a full video of this…😂 I posted a short that showed 2 images edited in 3 styles with 1 preset that you loved. And I thought why not walk through editing each image? Plus I added a bunch of extra photos from that wedding to edit.
We all know it is important to set yourself apart with a beautiful editing style that fits your vision, but it is also important to have tools that really help you get where you want faster and easier. That’s where Heirloom One Preset Collection comes in.

      Thanks for your input! I agree I can find more variety. This just happened to be a what I could find of dark inside weddings that I was editing for my clients at the time. These were their clients for those weddings so I didn’t choose them. Also this is a preset company channel, so I did create presets that assist in editing and that’s why I show them. I believe they are helpful and help create a certain style :)

    Nice video ! Thank you! Noticed some of the samples were shot at f2.2 and shutter speed at around 1/250 , I wondering how the subjects have no blurry parts since they were moving .

    • @heirloom.presets
      @heirloom.presets Місяць тому

      Glad you liked the video! These weren’t my images so I can’t remember which cameras/lenses were used, but as far as motion blur goes, 1/250 is going to be a fast enough speed to capture walking. The camera needs to be able to track focus well though, especially at 2.2 because that is such a narrow field of focus. I’m sure they were using 2.2 to add as much light into the lens due to the darker room. But they kept their shutter speed fast in order to capture those movements. I’d say you might get into motion issues when your shutter gets in the 1/30 and even 1/60 if they are quick. Try not to go below what the lens focal length is as a general rule of thumb. If you have a 30mm lens don’t go below 1/30. But with motion involved, I would bump it up probably 2x, so maybe 1/125. The one caveat is if you are using flash. The pop of flash will freeze the motion so you are able to use a little slower shutters. Hope that helps!

    Can this work for mixed genres of photography like family, senior grad sessions, and weddings all in the same profile? Or would I have to make separate accounts for each?

    • @heirloom.presets
      @heirloom.presets 3 місяці тому

      Yep you can edit anything! You just select a category when you upload a new project (weddings, real estate, etc) and the upload page gives any specific extra options tailored to that category. So if you click on real estate there will be an hdr merge extra option, but if you click weddings it will have things like soften skin or subject mask as extras. So yes, one account for any photography. You can also switch the profiles (which are somewhat like presets) that you use per project. So if you shoot commercial work and weddings, you may want different profiles for each style. You just select which one to use during uploading. Hope that clarifies!

    As someone who shot film, medium format as well as 35mm and printed nearly every film known to man, I never saw a film that gave light and airy. The only film I saw that gave a softer contrast look was Fuji NPS. IF a film was looking bright and airy was because it was over exposed. And honestly, the light and airy moniker seems to be the new name for natural light photographers. JMHO

    • @heirloom.presets
      @heirloom.presets 3 місяці тому

      Definitely a legitimate perspective! I shot medium format and 35mm as well at most of my weddings for quite a few years. Have you seen Jose Villa and KT Merry’s work? They somewhat started a “modern movement” of a light and airy film wedding photographer back when I was shooting. They used Fuji 400h primarily and it gives a very soft, light look when combined with the right lighting situations. Jose had a fine art wedding photography book which taught the methods. Anyways that’s where I’m coming from. And translating that look to digital can be tricky so I’m always looking to help those who want that style :)

    • @30dcanon
      @30dcanon 3 місяці тому

      @@heirloom.presets I looked at Jose's site and he's doing exactly what I said; just over exposing the film.. Basically the digital version of ETTR. It's NOT a characteristic of the film.. In fact, looking up the film, it's basically a rebrand of Fuji NPH, the 400 counterpart to NPS.. The final Trinity piece to this series of film was Reala, the 100 ISO that had excellent color rendering... And it's interesting that he's apparently using Noritsu and Fuji Frontier scanners, systems I used in my lab printing days, for his presets.. But what I notice about his "light and airy", are the highlights seem to have FAR MORE control than most who shoot this "style"... I also noticed too, he's not adverse to using fill light... At least here in FL, those who profess to shoot this style, seem to underexpose (less information) and hard pull the highlights/whites... And lack knowledge of OCF.. There are ways of doing this in camera and not having to be heavily reliant on post of presets... Again, JMHO...

    • @heirloom.presets
      @heirloom.presets 3 місяці тому

      @@30dcanon Hmmm not sure I totally agree with some of this but I totally get what you are meaning. I actually think some overexposure on that film is often needed for it not to look muddy. But for the digital shooters I always recommend to shoot slightly underexposed to save highlights. I don't want to add the OCF because of a style preference. So efficient post processing with presets is what my channel is about. And not that I'm here to defend Jose or something haha, but yes he did create presets to try and mimic when he does shoot digital. So he doesn't have to edit his film with presets, it's just an option to try and achieve the look. Photography style is soooo subjective and I can still appreciate your opinion!
