Wargame Red Dragon - 2nd Korean War - Part 12 - Chuncheon Tank Hunt (Warning: BORING)
Переглядів 1934 роки тому
We decided to revert our plan to counter attack in Wonju, since our tank unit arrived without enough initiative to attack. That means, that we should wait for the enemy to attack, or the next turn, to be able to deploy our full tank force, since the enemy managed to reinforce their attack in Wonju with 80(!) tanks. So instead, a tank hunt clean up in Chuncheon went underway. Not the most exciti...

In this episode we can see how to deal effectively with the flank attack at Gwangju. Of course the presence of the appropriate units composition there is a matter of previous tactical organization that we shows in the earlier episodes in the strategy map.
Wargame Red Dragon - 2nd Korean War - Part 10 - Battle of Wonju vs Air and Ground forces mix - HARD
Переглядів 1744 роки тому
Probably one of the toughest fights in this campaign, since our AA in the area was weak, falling victim to intense air attacks supported by an infantry and tank spam in the ground. Choosing a tactic of map control over turtling back, we managed to hold our ground and secure a Major victory with a controlled amount of losses, in what otherwise could be, a chaotic situation.
Wargame Red Dragon - 2nd Korean War - Part 09 - Chuncheon Defense vs ... Infantry?
Переглядів 1844 роки тому
After two total victories and destruction of 1,5 their tank fleets, the enemy decides to send infantry instead. Well, we do have some M48 spam since the start and now it would be the time to put them in use. This battle was more like a tower defense really, with the enemy helicopters and air force trying their best to keep it interesting.
Wargame Red Dragon - 2nd Korean War - Part 08 - Chuncheon counter attack vs T90s!

In this episode we are putting the UDT/Seals defending Chuncheon in the absolute test, to defend against an armada of Ch'onma-ho V and T90S. Only lucky fact was that in the previous battle they had captured some enemy cargo and that Cobra helicopter and Dragonfly squadrons are coming to assist. But in order to have clear skies, it all comes down to making the Pon'gae-2s the top priority targets...

In this third part of the campaign we fight a naval combat with the two Japanese escort flotillas vs the second Russian fleet. Wargame Red Dragon Campaign - 2nd Korean War - Part 01 - Perfect first naval combat?

Hi guys, in this video I am going to show you how to get a perfect result in the first naval combat of the 2nd Korean War campaign. I know that some UA-cam videos have shown very good strategies, but I think that I managed to combine all of them into a new video that can get a perfect result in this first big fight with the Russian ships. The aim was to get 4000 to 0 and on top of that a speed ...
Booooooooo! Why not Operation "Dire Straits?"
Because it is too close to the former Ottoman Empire, where Sultans were swinging.
This isn’t a battle… this is just the Soviet navy getting ganked in an alley
I used the Enterprise F-14s for this; that allows for contesting the enemy air (especially Su-25K)
I was hoping to see more videos in this channel :c
Move those cargos into kaesong to kill those units
The helicopter ones
I was surprised that it went nearly smooth actually, I make sure every time that I don't have to face their air units combine with ground forces (tanks). Hence the MiGs only need to get into missiles range to delete whatever send their way due to those 2 sets of short range AAMs, the Su-25Ks are troublesome they can destroy any unit in one hit (even the heavies you get later on). Now with the helicopters out of the way, the rest of the tank regiment is going to be the challenge as there is still an Su-25K ready to pick off targets as they are spotted. Excellent unit placement in this one, intrigued to see how you are going to place them for the tank rush.
Enjoyed your videos, hope to see more.
By this point I make sure that I have enough for the F-18s with ATGMs & the SEAD from the carrier, its mostly a trainer for the SEAD as I try to skill one or two only. Still as it goes by the use of air power a rearm time/cooldown need to be taken into consideration when planning attacks at the enemy rushing tanks, in combination with the Seals that could lower the stress use on the aircrafts as there is an actual defense line for the enemy to go through (previously as I wasn't using the seals it was mainly & nearly only the aircrafts doing work). Targeting units in towns with air power should be done via manual target attacks, using a ground recon is high risk unless it's really needed specially after the fight with the T-72s you need to provide the means for them that the enemy is sure dead before they come close to them. Studying the AI on this map, it seems that its very scripted when it comes to attack directions (where they are coming from) & where they place non engaging units, this map is the least favorite when it comes to the campaign due to its difficulty & the limited options of attack (the minimum losses considered).
After this battle, Chuncheon becomes much easier to deal with. The focus then shifts to Wonju, where I had the hardest battle of all in the series, and even "chickened" out to counter attack, due to the lack of reinforcement initiative points. Generally airforce isn't my preference to use vs AI. I use it as a last solution and it's almost always risky to do so. After the ground forces, the cobras for sure played a huge role in these series, before the Dragonflies.
Nice vids but wanted to correct u that an AH 1 is not an apache but rather a cobra
Thanks! I'll do a shout out about it next video.
Similar to holding Sokcho the arty is going to be the enemy that will hurt you the most, I was trying to refine the tactic & managed to weirdly crash the game (manipulating their CV a little). Usually you would end up either destroying the infantry with the tanks or they arty (the arty being taken out is better result than the tanks). With the A7 dragons arriving in the frontline it would be a really good supplement to be used with the Sabers, you can try & push them their since the sector you should be holding is Wonju only (the T-62s & mainly Chonmahous are going to be problematic if they had all the sectors but I guess it is doable if you would use the A7 dragons for those cluster bombs, you know its too late if you had to fight ground forces with their helicopters around. It would be good to see how you intercept the helicopters flanking you since I don't have to deal with them for the most part, excellent play, keep it coming.
I saw some strange AI behavior from what I usually see, first was that it uses command vehicle (not infantry) in the naval sector, in my case where ever they are place they are infantry this mean they are protected by single 2 stack infantry, the other thing is that the AI unloaded its infantry way too early. However I saw some similar tactics used to the one I do by. A 3:33 I use this in the first fight on this map you could use 2 units of 3 stacks to save on point if you want & the infantry command should be place to the left edge of that forested area, I call the long range AA (the Hawks that you used in another map) to similar used to the other battle, trapping their air superiority aircrafts by using the KF-5s as a bait (note that I won't lose them), I also call 4 mortar vehicles (this could be made by just one or 2 units but I use 4) to deploy smoke screen in front of the buildings so that the enemy go blindly in the town & have literal no room to fire back, both the mortars & the AA are place on the left side of the sector in covers area (the AA kinda up on a hill), I also bring the FOB behind the builds to resupply the infantry with rockets mainly (they are going to use ton of them the cargo won't be enough) & men in case they get damaged. 3:54 I place all the KAFV-90s in cover area with the FIAT6616, the OT-55s won't have the chance to shoot since those bridges play on your favor the close range make your vehicles one shot & the FIAT to stuck/stress with their auto cannons. The rest is just similar pass to their reinforce sector & deal the damage from there, note that I really prioritize taking out those MiG-23s (the F-5s are really easy) for the second time in the map in case of not killing them all using a helicopter in the south sectors is a really good one (less to worry since you aren't always luck with the KF-5s & that also need to be approached with care) place the AA in the mid of the run (I get to set them right at their sector) & then let them see my helicopter (usually I use a recon one). As I said previously I don't retreat from Sokcho I'm really capable of defending that sector at all times (all attacks made their) but you have to have the correct units to do that (if they get to use their aircrafts know that you have failed to achieve it but it could be used to bait their aircrafts there also, maybe), I also intercept those flanking helicopters with a ship before they make it into land. Anyways excellent play, looking forward to see how different it's going to be with different units & tactics.
Thanks! I'm sure your approach works as well, I've also tried many different things. About Sokcho, I guess I need to see a video to see how someone else did it without casualties! Next episode however (Part 06), I will show the advantages I gained for falling back and how much more pleasurable it proved in terms of gameplay. Thank you for your analytical comments, your support and the useful insight!

@@warartgaming870 Yes, This has to be done from the start & the Sabres are going to be the star show. I'm trying to refine it to see more damage can be dealt (at higher risk).

I intensively used the F-18 hornets with the ATGMs in this battle, still it requires high attention & micro-management, regardless, I must try this one out & see how it goes I was always worried that the tanks are going to run the calling in sector from Seoul (mostly I get attacked from there in my runs even with me experimenting with infantry). Talking about supplies I see that you should've used them mainly to heal/reinforce your units rather than using them for ammo as for close range engagement with their tanks in a small town you are bound to get some side shots which are one hit kill, another note is that you can use the supply to heal or even give ammo after using all the available seals you could use some just to get their rounds emptied & have them leave the combat area. 15:52 , this is what I was worried about I guess it's good to have at least single stack of 2 seals in those buildings you used for the mistrals to defend the base, the M48A5Ks are really that useless even in numbers at max range, using them similar to the seal but in greater numbers & short at them close range would yield the wanted results, but those bombers you shot down are the main pain in the ass to use such tactic when they are up. Also, the AH-1s you get are really good if you can use them while the enemy AA is far you can use the rockets to stun them fly the helicopter really close while the main cannons are off, this should be done with them each being separate one will be the shot at unit & the other one would fly low to the tank's back & do the damage from there I used this tactic but only for few times since they will run out of ammo/get severely damaged/out of fuel very fast. Excellent play I'm waiting to see how you are going to tackle the helicopter flank & some other battles before the are on the retreat. Side note: I don't know why you save mid battle since when you reload the save file you won't be spawned inside the battle, or at least it works like this for me.
What I do with one of the ships on the right side is to send it to the left to stop the helicopters from flanking behind the line.
Sokcho is not impossible to defend, for that you will need the Sabers with unguided rockets, Arty is going to be your worst enemy though but still you can dish a lot of damage to the enemy with minimum/acceptable losses.
As you will soon understand while watching the series, I hate casualties. Each one of these areas will be receiving 2-3 powerful waves until we will be able to push them back. So casualties mean death, as each time they will leave us weaker. In that sense, I prefer giving up some open ground to their armor, in order to deal with these forces with my R&R'ed K1s, in a map with more bottlenecks, Spartan style )
@@warartgaming870 Even me & most of the lost units are kinda avoidable beside some of the transports I use for specific task (hunt CV/s in specific sector), beside that you can literally destroy a unit or even kill all of their commands except one. The sector that start with the tanks (M48s) are really trick to defend, I get the hornets with ATGMs ASAP & try to relay on recon although you need to watch for the reload it going to be tough doing it without losses.
