Introduction to Pyr (Zoom Recording)
Переглядів 7121 день тому
Virtual event held January 17th, 2025. Hosted by Seung Lab at Princeton University. M will host an advanced proofreading demonstration this Weds Jan 22 at 11 am US ET. Email support@eyewire.org to RSVP. The CA3 is a brain region that is a part of the hippocampal formation. It is important for learning and memory. We begin our quest with Challenge 1: The 400, a set of presynaptic axons that conn...
Mossy Fiber Synapses
Переглядів 412 місяці тому
Unique synaptic connections found in the hippocampal formation. Mossy fibers are the axons of dentate granule cells which project to CA3 pyramidal neurons. Animation by Amy Sterling using Cinema 4D and Otoy Octane.
Neural Mural at MIT Museum

Timelapse painting by Daniela Gamba of a 6 foot neural mural. This was live painted at MIT Museum's Girls in STEM day a few years ago. The cells shown are excitatory pyramidal neurons of cerebral cortex.

Excitatory neurons of Layer II/III near the surface of the brain. These cells come from mouse visual cortex via the MICrONS dataset. Explore the data at www.microns-explorer.org/
Neurons of Mouse Hippocampus
Переглядів 482 місяці тому
Hippocampal subregion CA3. The bauble-like structures are called thorny excrescences and are complex dendritic spine structures found on CA3 pyramidal neurons in the hippocampus. They are the post-synaptic site where mossy fibers from the dentate gyrus granule cells input.
Pyramidal Neuron
Переглядів 2999 місяців тому
Pyramidal neurons are the primary excitatory neurons of the brain, and this is a big one. Coming from Layer 5, this whopper of a neuron is packing over 5,000 synapses just on its dendrites. Its axon exits cortex, venturing to far away brain lands. For more information on citizen science and connectomics, visit science.eyewire.org/ Explore the cells from The MICRONS Consortium: www.microns-explo...

Take a Tour of the Microns Explorer
Переглядів 4142 роки тому
Walk through the Microns Explorer (www.microns-explorer.org/gallery-mm3) and explore a cubic millimeter of cortex in the interactive connectomics proofreading, visualization, and analysis tool neuroglancer. This is the dataset that will underlie Pyr. Sign up to be notified when we launch at pyr.ai/ Follow us on Twitter: pyrgame
Pyr is for Pyramidal
Переглядів 3202 роки тому
Fly through the impressive complexity of a pyramidal neuron. This cell type typically has thousands of excitatory connections with other cells in the brain. There are around 100,000 pyramidal neurons in just one cubic mm of cortex. Neuroscience teamwork by Seung Lab of Princeton University, the Allen Institute, and Baylor College of Medicine. Funded by IARPA MICrONS and the US Brain Initiative....
FlyWire Zone 2
Переглядів 902 роки тому
Congratulations! FlyWire Zone 2 is complete! All neurons from the first 9 optical columns have been proofread by citizen scientists: kfay annkri krzysztofkruk AzureJay bl4ckscor3 st0ck53y Mavil a5hm0r Next we will explore who these cells talk to by mapping their ~1,000 connected partners on flywire.ai/.
Fly Brain 360
Переглядів 712 роки тому
A 360 degree view of the brain of a fly (drosophila melanogaster). The entire connectome of the fly will be mapped through the collaborative crowdsourcing tool FlyWire (www.flywire.ai). As of May 2022, when this video was uploaded, scientists and citizen scientists have already proofread over 50,000 neurons from the central brain and are beginning to tackle the optic lobes. Learn more about con...

FlyWire Livetraving with M and Amy. We covered annotations, multisplit, finding elusive somas and parallel fasiculation. Future office hours will take place Thursdays at 1 pm on Twitch: www.twitch.tv/flywireai A human-AI collaboration to map the fly connectome www.flywire.ai
FlyWire Column 1
Переглядів 932 роки тому
Citizen Science in FlyWire begins with Column 1. We will map all 159 up and downstream synaptic partners of a single Medulla neuron. Together we think these cells form an optic column, of which there are around 800 in the whole fly brain. www.flywire.ai

Hopefully you'll get it to work again. If AI will be able to map all the Eyewire neurons, then people can help out other citizen science projects develop AI for their projects too!

Hey, Impressive images and very interesting way to reconstruct your datas. What type of microscope did you use? is it a SEM with a BSE detector? How did you manage to get such volumes ? Is it serial section with manual or automatic cutting? thank you very much.

Not that bad for a try Amy ! you need some more skills for camera path and speed, but you're on it ! ;)
