BETTY BOOP AND LITTLE JIMMY (1936)
The introduction of Swinnerton's comic strip character, Little Jimmy was one of several attempts at launching a new series based on popular comic characters, hoping to duplicate the success of Popeye. But this was the only one made with this character.

ANIMATION HISTORY--The Coming of Color
Переглядів 4007 місяців тому
With the addition of sound in 1928, the next logical advancement was color. While The Great Depression presented challenges for this advancement, Walt Disney took the gamble by signing The Technicolor Corporation to a four year exclusivity for the use of the three-color process. Because of this, the color cartoon market was created for movie theaters, and all other Producers were compelled to f...

This is the introduction of the lovable Inventor, Professor Grampy, who bares an interesting resemblance to a retired Ko-Ko the Clown. Grampy went on the his own sub-series in the Betty Boop cartoons in seven more appearances for the next three years. Included is a lift from the 78 rpm recording of "The Tiger Rag" by The Maple CIty Four. #bettyboop #grampy #maxfleischer #fleishcersthdios #davef...

The FIRST Terrytoons-JUMPING BEANS
Переглядів 2188 місяців тому
This is the 19th release of the first official sound Terry cartoons following the pioneering DINNERTIME (1928). These early Terrytoons were created as atmospheric themes animated and synchronized gracefully to music. Many may be seen as precursors to what Walt Disney brought forth in FANTASIA 10 years later. #terrytoons #paulterry #earlysoundcartoons #animationhistory #johnmoser #audiocinema #e...
THE HISTORY OF ANIMATION Part 3--The Coming of Sound
Переглядів 648 місяців тому
By the mid 1920s animated cartoons had stars of their own. But there was something missing. None of them could be heard, as hard as they tried. All of this started to change by this time. While STEAMBOAT WILLIE is cited at the first sound animated cartoon, there were others that preceded it. Just as there were sound motion pictures before THE JAZZ SINGER (1927) , it was a matter of content that...

In 1958, Columbia Pictures launched its own record label , Colpix. Its first release #201 was RUFF AND REDDY'S ADVENTURES IN OUTER SPACE, using the original Master Tape voice recordings for the television cartoons. Instead of the licensed Capital Hi-Q music cues heard in the series, this record used an organ. An effort was made to enhance the soundtrack with additional effects for greater dimen...

The early works of Winsor McCay inspired other cartoonists to enter the new field of animated cartoons. Some such as Raoule Barre' and John R. Bray saw their value as entries on the movie program and started the first commercial animation studios in New York. The Bray Studio was the leading producer based on its control over the cel overlay process and related techniques. One of the major figur...

This cartoon is >8(((((((((((((
OF COURSE, it had to be a fake!
My father was working for Western Electric Co., the manufacturer of sound equipment in movie houses. Western didn't sell the equipment, it rented and required that it's engineer and mechanic service it. It gave him and me free access to movies, using the house seats.

Awesome!
Lesson: This demonstrates how runaway children are rewarded- If they refuse to return home, they will be haunted at night.
Happy National Monkey Day! 🐒
Hmm, this is more of a curation of cartoons with the effect and not an explainer at all. There are a couple behind the scenes studio stills, but that's not explaining much. Still it's great to see a supercut of this incredibly cool and labor intensive effect that few (or maybe no) other studios tried, at least at this level. Amazing!
_Bootleg_ Pete?! I knew he was a bear originally, and he has Schrödinger's peg-leg, but how long has he been a _bootleger?_ I know, give it a month and it will be a hundred years...
So... it's just a running gag that Julian keeps dying and losing multiple lives? He's like the original Kenny.

4:15 I saw and have this cartoon mixed with other cartoons.
I was expecting a smart-assed parody. This is much nicer.

There's a version by Tom Claire that's a bit different.
I remember my dad bought me this cartoon on vhs in the early 90s. Brings back nice memories. Thanks for putting this on UA-cam.

2017? more like 2007 😂
Yes it was 2017. That's when the book came out. I guess I should know, I was there.
It’s so weird when you see these all cleaned up and look a bit more fresh. It’s almost like you’re kind of watching a parody of old cartoons.
They don't make cartoons like they used to

Very impressive! I love this effect since my childhood, you just forgot the carrousel scene in Babes in Dreamland, is very impressive how the carrousel rotate almost in 3D!
Betty Boop Looks Fabulous with Her Hair Longer & when Her Head isn't Too Big for Her Body . Betty Still Has the Familiar Big Cute Eyes that Makes Her so Adorable. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
An example of a titlecard from the early to mid 1930 season of Terrytoons can be seen in thr commonly circulating version of Hungarian Goulash (1930) In case you need help finding more titlecards. Deleted scens can also be found on some vhs copies.
Where is SHIVER ME TIMBERS listed?
My cats found this fascinating.
Is the source of this a video tape? The interlacing artifacts are painfully noticeable.
School is in cession. 1) This was transferred from my DVD, BEFORE WALT, released in 2006, which was the Centennial year of American animation. It was a transfer of a 16mm print from Mark Kausler's collection. This was done on the Rank Cintel telecine onto Beta SP Masters Broadcast Masters which was the standard at the time and the source for the DVDs. So this was done according to industry standards, not an amateur transfer as some Public Domain video tapes were. One giveaway of a tape source is a horizontal weave. This print tends to drift up and down and around due to shrinkage. Image stabilization was in it infancy then, and tended to crop too much picture area. So I omitted the process. 2) This was a rare complete version of FELIX SOLVES THE PUZZLE done back in the NTSC days before digital. There is no other known print of it in existence as we know at this time. While this looked fine on television screens prior to digital, UA-cam adds imperfections by displaying the 3/2 Pull down that was necessary to convert film speed (24 frames per second) to NTSC video speed--30 fields per second. You are also seeing NTSC raster lines. This is what you THINK is interlacing artifacts. Artifacts tend to be digital square aberrations. That is not here. 3) The film was already in the process of deteriorating, and as such is the only known complete version. When Steve Stanchfield attempted to scan the print, it deteriorated in his hands. So this is what you are stuck with until another complete print comes to the surface, which I would gladly love to scan. But such is the risk with this old stuff. We are many times stuck with what is left. But this is good enough for UA-cam at the moment. The point is, people can see it. It would be my wish to process out the things you object to. Can you do it? If not, perhaps you should be a bit more appreciative. Maybe you'd be better off shielding your eyes since the last thing I'd want is to cause you eye pain. But thanks for appreciating the HARD WORK that was necessary to bring this together as it is, including the soundtrack I created.
Part 2, Baby!
“Can you might do some old Hanna-Barbera Kellogg’s Commercials”, from the late 50’s and early 60’s.
This is how Betty got ready for her role in 'Kitty from Kansas City' and we can't call Little Jimmy 'little' now.
@@1RichardHunt I sure haven't heard of that one.
The Crusader Rabbit intro had better animation then the show itself!

12:51 Betty Boop Is Crying
Very impressive.
According to Gerald Hamonic’s Terrytoon book. The early Terrytoons made between 1930-1931 had complaints of poor synchronization. And to placate those criticisms alongside keeping up with the times. One Alexander Ivanoff was hired around 1932 to improve the sync of these toons and was a mainstay until his death around 1942. Though, this Terrytoon, Rather basic in plot, is still an enjoyable one!
Aired on November 19, 1959.
Koko - what a jerk!
I sure wish I could find copies of all the episodes with everything intact and unedited. This is a good start tho!
Bullwinkle: Another away from me again! 24:42
To think this was probably the first ever rail safety production!
Why is it that when Rocky would fly around the flag. They were just cut it off. Same thing he was diving off the diving board. Did they have to remove the animation?
Because in the original cut on ABC, when Rocky flies around the flag, the notice would read, "Rocky the Flying Squirrel", followed by "featuring Bullwinkle The Moose". This occurs on the other openings as well. Then when The Bullwinkle Show premiered on NBC, that notice was replaced with "The Adventures Of Rocky And Bullwinkle". Now its been re-replaced with "The Adventures Of Rocky And Bullwinkle And Friends". (which explains why Bullwinkle's name appears twice.) Trust me, @alanslattery7602. I watched it when the series first premiered at age 5 and still maintain a good memory. 🙂
When shown on NBC it was removed because it made reference to the original title
Even tho he’s old, he can still animate so good, I’m just saying
i have a full but censored version of this
If it is censored it is not full.
They dream if they were separate, to have legs
Very nice reconstruction! The bit at 2:25 where you can briefly see a snippet of the original animation of Rocky about to grab the flag was still there in the revised 1961 version of that opening, with the still shot of the flag reading "The Adventures of BULLWINKLE AND ROCKY" (replaced with the newer series logo for this remaster, later episodes would actually cut that brief snippet of animation to make it less obvious).
Uh,no,my friend. The original flag noticed, billboard sign, diving board, and snow mountain shots would read: "Rocky The Flying Squirrel". Trust me!
@@KokujinYmir Right, that's what they originally said when this show first started in 1959 as "Rocky and His Friends". But when it was reworked into "The Bullwinkle Show" in 1961, that was when they replaced the "Rocky the Flying Squirrel" title shots with a new one reading "The Adventures of BULLWINKLE AND ROCKY", creating a strange case of redundancy when we'd see the "With BULLWINKLE THE MOOSE" title afterward.
I love the voice they give king little so much
I member seeing it on TV.
