Only reason I kept watching was because you had great info. Holy shit your cough and smoke alarm were painful throughout the entire video.
🎉 loadout
Hey, thanks for enabling comments! Just ordered the stuff to do this job on my 98. Any chance you could tell me what year front fender you are running? I want to upgrade the front fender so I can put a Chinese LED headlight on, but I'm having trouble figuring out which one to get.
I ordered a Polisport kit off amazon that said it fit 2001-2002 EXC and it fit my 1999 no issues.
The top tank bolts can shear as well. The tank bolts and the subframe boot are less than a $100 and definitely worth doing both.
Hey man! Why are your newer vids uploaded in kids mode? I only care because it disables the comments and I wanted to thank you for the KTM 200 video you just released. I just got a 1998 KTM 200 EXC after not having a bike for 15 years. It has the leaky exhaust flange problem, and there was not a lot of info about it, so your video was really helpful!
My bad i was thinking kids mode would enable comments
Where did you purchase it from?
Directly from "Berotec" who makes it.
Are you able to let me know if this bike has some sort of way to telling you how much fuel you have left. I know on the US model, there is no fuel gauge but does it at least tell you how many miles you have left till you're empty?
It does have a low fuel light but that's all. When that comes on you have about 50km or 30ish miles left
@@Nick-qb9jc oh ok, have you never been worried when riding trials wondering if you have enough gas?
Not really, I carry a couple extra bottles of fuel to be safe and plan my route accordingly to accommodate my fuel range. It hasn't been an issue......yet haha
Thank you mate! Im looking for this to calibrate my cumpan
I’m about to pull the trigger on the Rade garage auxiliary tank, wings slip on exhaust the Suzuki fan thermostat thingy, a set of those outback crash bars some fresh higher bend bars and my wallet is already puckering
The smoke alarm battery! beep😑!!
Right on, the ktm 690 is an absolute adventure weapon!! Just picked up a used one myself with low miles bone stock, it never touched dirt. Only issue is I didn’t get all the awesome aftermarket stuff for free of the last guy but with 1900 OG miles I figured it’s a trade off. Outfitting mine for adventure riding, motocamping and knocking off BDRs soon. That Rade Garage tower is in my list of shit to buy as well I’ll be sharing as much as I can on the bike and outings on my moto channel New subscriber
I've REALLY seriously considered the rade garage rally tower, it looks badass and seems very functional, but holy moly they are proud of that piece $$$ haha
@@Nick-qb9jc yeah it looks really good, and covers a few items at once with wind protection, better lighting and great visual area for gps etc …. But damn right it’s expensive!!!
background music is simply irritating! why on earth...?
Shite audio .. we can’t hear you !
Probably it's audio off a phone haha 😆
If you're primarily using it for adventure riding without terribly steep drops you can get away with adding a 1.25 koubalink and lowering the preload to make the height really low. Still has great clearance and being able to put your foot down provides a lot of confidence on uneven ground.
I've considered that, but I'm just learning to deal with the height.... haven't dropped it cause of the height yet haha
Hey Nick, what kind of crash bars are you running? I have a 2018 and I want to get some for it. Are you happy with them? Are they steel or aluminum?
They are outback motortek bars and are a fantastic option! Highly recommended! They are steel and paint matches the stock frame perfectly 👍
@@Nick-qb9jc Thanks! I will check them out! I like that they are steel. Thanks for the response.
Do you know that your other video , follow up is on "UA-cam Kids"". So, we can not comment or save, unless one is running UA-cam kids ! Not sure if you realize that! Thanks for making both of them !!
Thanks a lot! I think I fixed it!!
Thanks for making this video! I haven’t been one to buy this but wording about the installation…. Would you please do a little follow up video on the final install and how was working?
Uploading an update now!! Thanks!
Is the sound still gone after covering those plugs? I have a very similar sound, trying to troubleshoot.
I actually found that it was some weird faults caused by the old def tank sensors being exposed to rain. Covered all the old exhaust sensor plugs and def tank plug and it's all good now
i’ll have to try that with mine. mine makes a similar noise. mine is deleted and all the plugs are exposed. do you hear the tick increase with rpm by chance?
@@3OHATE yeah it was matched with RPM. Mine started throwing a MAF fault code, that's when I started checking things and found those exposed plugs slightly corroded. Cleaned them up and wrapped them with plastic and it's been good since! Apparently the ECU still sends low voltage signals to those plug ends and if they get corroded it'll cause all sorts of strange issues
@@Nick-qb9jc was it the mass air flow too high code?
@@Nick-qb9jc the p00bd code specifically
@@3OHATE it was
U ever check the crank case filter
I usually have a transparent cover over my container so I visually see the boil. Here in Canada,West,, smoke the whole summer.
Yea my 2022 sounds just like that. Diesels just tick a lot at idle
ua-cam.com/users/shortszKgOu_iPnN4?feature=share
Injectors normal tick no?
Did you ever figure out what this noise was? My 2020 is making the same exact noise and the dealership is telling me it’s normal.
Ever find anything else out about this sound?
I'm still driving it. The noise is pretty consistent when warmed up, otherwise runs well. Someone linked a video in the comments that I believe could be the issue. Valve train issue more than likely
Hey my 2016 with 115k miles does this also, should I be worried?
I think it's a bad lifter, I haven't repaired mine yet but I should. Its just a decent job to get in there and repair it
@@Nick-qb9jc well I listed to my dads 2017 6.7 and actually makes the same noise, it only had 68k miles, so now I’m not as worried as I was, maybe it’s more normal then we think
I will be doing the same here in the near future, and I've seen ALL the horror videos of sheared off bolts. So, 2x daily for a week. HOW did they come out? Was there still the disturbing creaking and squealing as you loosened them, or was it like no prob whatsoever smooth as silk?
Those suckers are torqued on their good, but once they broke free it was smooth.
@@Nick-qb9jc It's the BREAKING part that scares me. It takes me back to the 5.4L Triton days and the spark plug issues.
No doubt, FORD should have made those bolts beefier
@@Nick-qb9jc Beefier would be good, but they need to be installed with anti-seize from the factory.
How many weeks did you spray it for?
I sprayed it for a week twice a day
Quit playing with your dingy.
I can't help myself 🥺
Are they still alive? I would love to know more about your long-term experiences. Even if your reply shows up years from now.
I'm still rocking these badboys! I use them for hiking and hunting. Over the years I've consistently cleaned and oiled the leather with snow seal 2-3 times a year and their holding up great still. Only defect thus far is a tiny delamination of the rand where the boot creases while walking.
@@Nick-qb9jc Thats the problem with my 5 year old crispi besseggen version 1 also. I am looking to replace the sole on them now. There is a shop here in Norway that advertise that they can do it for about 100 USD. I am going to try it and hope that my goretex lining and leather hold up. I wonder if there are boots that last more than five years without repairs. Maybe merell wilderness? Alfa has a modern boot called impact that has a five year warranty and they will extend that with three years if you have them serviced, but I didnt like my other Alfa boots and the build quality seems a little off on them. I wonder if its a question of comfort vs. sustainability. The flexibility of my crispi boots are great, but the leather seems to have started to take in water. The grip of vibram is great, but they wear out after five years of frequent use.
Had mine for 8 years, gone on multiple 10 day backpacking trips. Saved my ankles and maybe my life. Never had wet feet. Best boot ever.
My 2021 f350 has that same sound
Great guns, yes the mag sanding and also polishing the feed ramp a bit helps.
Lifters should probably be looked at
I’m a power stroke tech at my local dealer and i don’t hear anything out of the ordinary. Sounds like normal engine noise
Did you find out what the problem was my 2017 is making similar noise ?
Yea its cause its a diesel
Any word on this noise?
Brought it in to the local powerstroke guy, says he doesn't hear anything out of the ordinary.....I don't hear it when the engine is cold, only when it reaches operating temps. Also it seems to go away when ive been doing heavier pulling for 15-20+ minutes, but shut the truck down for 10min and the noise is back when you start it back up, sounds crazy i know. I put a stethoscope to it and narrowed the noise down to the top end around cylinder 7. really noticable when i touch the #7 injector with the scope.....so who knows maybe a faulty injector?? Lift?? Just gonna roll with it i guess. It dosnt seem to be getting worse, and the truck is performing fine
Nick, mines kind of similiar. Only makes the noise when warm. Possibly just a quirk of the scorpion I guess?
@@Nick-qb9jc damn, I was hoping you found the issue. Sounds the same as mine .My truck does the opposite though. Knocks when it’s cold then it starts going away as it heats up. Same exact noise as when I first bought mine. It was an injector going out. Replaced all 8 and ran good for about 5 months. Knocking is back; could be faulty injectors again but damn. I’m hoping it’s not the valves going. Oh, and it didn’t want to spool for shit today while I was driving. I should have just bought a brand new truck for the amount of money I’m throwing at this thing
could just be a timing tick... my 6.7 does it every so often and freaks me out but won’t cause problems
@@tannerarnold7174 mine is straight up knocking now lol. Used some seafoam and it’s quitted down a bit. Might do another treatment. But now my turbo is failing apparently. Sounds like a supercharger when under load
I'm getting it diagnosed from a local powerstroke mechanic this week, but does that sound familiar to anyone? Injector? Lifter? Rod bearing? Piston?
Ever find the exact problem? Mine is doing the same thing and its driving me insane.
@@anthonyroe2598 nope. Just dealing with it. It hasn't gotten any worse
The clicking you can hear when you get close to the heads under the hood is definitely a lifter noise. The good news is these engines are really resilient. It will probably run that way for a lonnnnng time. The lifter noise should be present when cold too. Maybe just quieter. Separately, Ford put out a service bulletin on 6.7 powerstrokes for a normal “typewriter sounding” noise that occurs from time to time, more frequently after oil changes. They say the noise is normal and doesn’t cause any problems. It sounds like a rod knocking on a singe cylinder. My truck has it too but with 286k miles on my ‘13 6.7 I can’t complain about the reliability. If you search typewriter noise on UA-cam you will see all newer diesels make this noise, Chevy, dodge included.
@@outlawdiesel5221 Thats kinda what i suspected. I wonder how you can diagnose it with more specificity(which lifter ex.), are lifter repair/replaced by "simply" removing valve covers on this engine?
@Nick sorry I didn’t see your reply. 95% of the time you can tell once you get the valve covers off by identifying heat signatures or even scuff marks on the camshaft lobes at the troubled lifters. The lifters have a ball bearing the tends to freeze or sometimes pop out (especially with overdue oil changes or wrong oil type). The tends to wear the camshaft too far off tolerances and you’d have the replace the camshaft too. Check all other lifters and valve train components for wear and functionality and put it back together. If you need more help email me at outlawshopalabama@gmail.com for a faster reply.
Ouch
144p? which pixel are the shoes?
Thanks for the review. Do you know if the sole is stiff enough for strap-on crampons? I have Grivel V10's to slap on when in need of climbing icy, slick hills/mountains here in Wyoming. Thanks!
The sole is very rigid, comparatively speaking it's just a step below a mountaineering boot with regard to sole rigidity. So crampons would be no issue.
I've had these boots for 3yrs now and mine have been to Afghanistan and all over the Pocono Mountains. I do take great care of them and they still look almost brand new. The out sole is the best I've ever seen they are my go to boot. I have 2 pairs of Asolo's and one pair of Lowa's but the Kenises is my favorite by far. Spend the money and your feet will thank you.
So you've had them in some pretty warm climates? I'm going to Central America and am skeptical whether or not to bring my Kinesis Pro's due to them being too heavy or too hot. Do you just use a thin hiking sock in warmer temps? I've only used these boots up North so far.
nope, cant tell 'messes with the shoelaces' due to 144p quality. But funny you thought we might see it
thanks for the review. do you still have them and are you still satisfied with the boots? do they still look brand new?
The boots have been and are still amazing! Extremely comfortable even more so now that there warn in. I snow seal them after every few heavy uses and I think they'll last forever honestly! Worth every penny
Super!! I don't think I could ever do that! But you make me want to try!
