We reassembled the Kitty Cat engine. Unfortunately, the video for the last part of the build ended up getting corrupted. Here is what I was able to salvage.

Now that we have the 60cc Suzuki out of the Kitty Cat we brought it in the house to start the rebuild. The first step is to tear down the engine so this video is what we completed in Day 1.

After replacing a broken recoil the poor old kitty won't start. After checking over compression, spark and the carb we suspect the crank seals have gone bad. So, we are tearing down the engine and at a minimum putting in a new seal kit. We'll see if it needs anything else once it's apart!
1980 Arctic Cat Kitty Cat Recoil Pull Start Rebuild - Angry Teen Sledder
Переглядів 4,9 тис.9 років тому
The pull rope broke on the old Kitty Cat. When we took it apart we found the return spring had also sheared. So we found a new old stock spring on eBay and some rope at Harbor Freight which turned out to be too big, so we went to Mac's and found the right stuff. Enjoy! Thanks. My kitty cat recoil just won’t recoil all the way, thinking I will try and clean it up like you did or does it need a new spring. Was your rope broken or why did you tear yours down?

That’s how they wear their pants in prison when they’re “presenting” to the other inmates. Might wanna let junior know that little fact.

Hello, Great video! I have a 94 kitty cat and it starts but I have to keep it running by feathering the choke..then it dies, I assume it's a carb problem but how do I adjust it?..any help is good.

The carb jets are probably clogged and need cleaning. I would pull the carb off, disassemble, and clean out all the jets and passages. It's not overly complicated. Just soak the parts in carb cleaner, blow them out with compressed air (or blow through them with a can of carb cleaner) and reassemble. Otherwise, as far as settings the pilot air screw should be set to one turn out from lightly seated. The idle screw is on top and just opens the throttle, so you could tighten that screw some to increase the idle speed.
