How I Found My Peace In China

"Chengdu, A City To Belong" or "慢活成都,乐享当下"
I have always been inspired by the diversity of Chengdu. I live in the South, which is very developed and busy - a new business district. While the actual centre and Yulin district are busier with people having fun. It's an enormously huge and fast-developing city, but at the same time, it's very close to mountains, I mean actual badass mountains where you can go hiking and camping in high altitudes.
And I made this video for a competition: "Videos that highlight Chengdu's uniqueness". I hope it worked!

Well done for making it. Good - excellent videography; you are an appealing character; OK story-line Bad - much too long; far to many exaggerated gestures and wooden spoken words The use of the expressions and gestures would be acceptable if they were briefly presented and there were far fewer of them. Similarly, the spoken elements spell out unnecessarily ideas which are obvious eg how wonderful it is in the mountain, or strangely superfluous eg the character thinking the mountains are much further away than they are, I suggest that if you keep the existing story-line you should re-edit to a maximum of two minutes, preferably less. This will force you to use a few gestures in quick cuts where they would work well and to limit the speech to where it is necessary. Better still, you could simplify the story and leave out the character’s revelation at the end that he has changed. This is implicit anyway and then you could try to aim for one minute. Making the ad shorter means that more people will watch it to the end and will provide you with the discipline to focus on what it is essential. You will be pleasantly surprised at how how much better the video will be when it is much shorter.
@@apaul9776 thank you for this constructive feedback! I’m still training my “cutting muscle” hehe. Actually I made this for a gov competition here in Chengdu, and I wanted to highlight some things that I know are important for judges in the way local creators do. It’s a bit shallow but at least the storyline is clear, this was an important aspect for me since I haven’t done such videos before. Once more, I really appreciate your honesty. Which police station in chengdu or designated police station
To apply for a driving license in Chengdu? It's a special traffic police place on the northwest side, near the Pidu metro station (line 2 and line 6). That's also where people register new vehicles and do technical inspections.

I am in China as an American but have an Italian driving license and would like to convert it to a Chinese one so I can also ride motorcycles. Is it a problem that my license is from Italy?
Hi! It's a good question. As I understand it shouldn't be a problem as long as you can prove that this driving license belongs to you. But in China, one won't find out until they try 🤣 Also keep in mind that for riding motorcycles in Mainland China you'll need E type license opened. The regular cars are under the C1 type. All the categories and their international equations are listed here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driver%27s_license_in_China If your license has motorcycle type opened already it should be a straightforward process, just remind them about this when you will start the application.
Thank you, a lot of valuable information about the organization of visits to doctors. Everything is clear, but it is better not to get sick!
Thank you and I hope that no one will need the information from this video hehe
Hey Alex, great video, I'll be living in China for a while, Chengdu actually, and I am wondering what is a reliable vpn I could use to be able to connect to western services?
Hey there, thank you for your feedback! Definitely, get a reliable VPN before you arrive, their websites are often blocked in China and it may be hard to download the app you need once you are here. Also, from my experience any VPN, free or paid, may lag sometimes... Many people use Astrill - it is well-known and the most expensive option I have seen (as all others, it isn't perfect). The one I use is called 12vpx, it's cheaper and has much better customer support than Astrill. Many expats use smaller providers, just some dudes they contact through WeChat. Those are even cheaper. Also, some people use VPN routers (your home/office WiFi will have the VPN). They often come with TV boxes. Again, this is from random people on WeChat, so you'd better find someone who used their service, before sending them your money, hehe.
@@AlexTchaikovsky awesome, thanks for the tips! I'll check those out

How about Traditional Chinese medicine?
@@InspectorA-r2e usually tcm considered to have slower results. In regular hospital doctors may prescribe taking Chinese medicine or go through tcm treatment if needed tho. Years back my jaw had arthritis. First I went to a foreign doctor who prescribed me a pretty strong medicine that however didn’t fix my problem. At the same time I could feel how it affected my body. Then I went to a private international clinic. A Chinese pediatrician there told me to do the acupuncture instead of taking medicine. It worked almost instantly and costed me just 800rmb. But I don’t rely on Chinese medicine for cold and nasal congestion, it all feels kind of useless 🤣🤣
@@AlexTchaikovsky it really helps if you keep having some traditional herbs for a month to 3 months. it is about balance the fluid inside the blood cycling. it is to say, cooking herbs instead of coffee , it really changes life in better healthy status.
@@lijackson-x6r I’ll think about it 🤝
How much was the examination and medication?
@@Capt.Canuck Hey, good question! So this is like a special department of Huaxi hospital with better service and (I was told) with the best doctors, in South-West China. At least they could all speak English hehe. So it’s more expensive than normal public hospitals. The appointment was around 300rmb and the treatments+meds are usually somewhere around 500 (less in my case, because I mostly have to do exercise 🤣)
@@AlexTchaikovsky FUCK ME!!! My visit to the dentist cost me $2800.00 and that’s considered cheap and take me 1 month worth of wait. FUCK!!!!!!
