Allison forever Jimmy was here
Great song. I saw this band in Chicago twice and they were great live
Very good.
Love the riff part in this song. Great EP from Chicago's early new wave bands.
This one is definitely on the whiskey and such list...
Back in the day these guys used to let me back stage after shows to drink and smoke weed. What a privilege.
mr lemon has a few followers
Audrey Hepburn 1953
One of my new favorite covers!! Great Job Evan!!
Great version. You have the rest of the show?
Haha...good question! I'll have to check on that...
Steve taking one last look at himself in the bottom of a glass pipe...he’s written a lot of great stuff, but this song is as good as it got. Used to be I was really free, didn’t need no gasoline to run You could say Jack Kerouac and just turn your back and I’d be gone Simply brilliant
Reminds me of Elliott the way he stops and then finishes
Stunning

This song deserves to be an A side
May be Steve's best song and that's saying something. Never heard it on acoustic.
Look up his show at McCabe’s. He starts a show during his lowest point with it. Even thru all the shit, it still shines
Bootsy Collins, Bob Mould, Gary Gary Beers, and Malkmus.
What pickup does Conor use on his guitar?
wow
Yo La Tengo does a great cover of the Groovies original
Still the best. dando def learned it from FAKEBOOK
I heard the groovies one first but loved the tengo
I remember when Pitchfork reviewed a Show in Omaha that Bright Eyes and Joyner both played, and Pitchfork actually discussed the performance of this song in particular, leading me to believe that this version was from that show, as the only other place I had heard it before happening upon your channel was on a Bootleg I had, the spoken introduction excised, and the date listed as the date of the aforementioned Benefit Show in Omaha. Obviously, the version I have (whatever the reason) lists the incorrect date. May I ask where you found this? Thank you so much for the Post! - You've aided in opening the day with an unexpected clarification!
I traded for the show a long time ago...I don't know if that is still a thing people do? (like, literally, sending CDs through the US mail.) I imagine some people still trade but it's probably predominantly digital/cyberspace now?
Late to the party, but this is from a 2001 live recording in Seattle. It's an actual release that sold in record stores at the time, and it's called "Here Is The Young Man". I bought my copy in like 2006 at Repo Records in Philly. He fucks up almost every song, it's amazing. That recording has my favorite version of "Entryway Song" (or "Entry Way Song" as it's written on the back of the CD) on it. ua-cam.com/video/k8YR6Pjpbkw/v-deo.html
@@PosthuMouse wow man, thanks for this, I’m going to look for it
@@PosthuMouse oh, is this where he played a song with the guy from Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, the center of the world?

He's pretty impressive. I wish he'd drop his current band. I'm tired of their faces
Flowerdoodle2 he should start a band with Kim Deal, Robert Pollard and Thurston Moore... think about it
Oh yeah, with Steve Shelley on drums of course
@@MeanManu that would be a dream
Love this song
I've always loved this cover, almost as much as the original.
Incredible. Malkmus is God.
Steve's best artwork, no doubt!!!
