I understand that the amount of programming lead time they had may not have been sufficient to fine tune things to lap faster than... uh, 20 mph by the looks of it --and that's only the driving part, which if there's already places with driverless taxicabs, shouldn't be a big deal anymore but apparently it was and and was such a big deal they couldn't get around to actually programming in the rules of racing. This doesn't even make it to the level of alpha testing; it's barely proof-of-concept. What it looks like to me is some billionaire(s) decided a new sportainment would be a good way to suck more money from the masses so they bought a few rollers, stuck in some tech, set up a "Survivor"-like spectacle and called it Racing.
