Trains. And video games about trains. Maybe video games that aren't about trains, I don't know yet
Time's Arrow - 19 May 2024
Images and videos from the Irish Railway Records Society's Time's Arrow Railtour, a 2-day tour with an IÉ Class 2600 DMU, celebrating 30 years of service of the Japanese units.
First in class 2601/2602 is seen at Howth Junction, Clonsilla and Connolly on the first day of the tour. I was lucky enough to join the train for a short run out to M3 Parkway and back to Connolly.
The unit certainly got quite a few admiring glances, not least from the various enthusiasts aboard. 2601 had been specially repainted into as-delivered 'Arrow' livery for the tour, hence the name.
Filmed using a Samsung Galaxy phone.
Edited with NCH VideoPad.
All footage is my own, please credit if used elsewhere.
Chapter Timestamps;

01:00 - B162, Howth Jct
01:38 - B163, Howth Jct
02:43 - B961, Clonsilla
03:35 - B262, Dublin Connolly

Brief clips of Rebuilt Bulleid Light Pacific 34101 'Hartland' storming up the 1:80 grades of the Swanage-Wareham Branch with an Express for Waterloo. The two route discs are not actually the BR express headcode - they indicate a Bournemouth train. Discs for Waterloo would have been fitted there. Filmed in Train Simulator Classic, using OBS Studio. Images and videos from the last day of Steam Dreams' Emerald Isle Explorer Tour, run in conjunction with the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland. The train is seen around the Wexford Quays, the last place in Ireland (quite possibly the UK) where mainline street-running passenger services can be seen. Further footage would have been obtained, but as a regular RPSI volunteer I was called-up l...

Wexford Town is one of only two places in Ireland where street-running trains can be seen. In this video on a rainy afternoon, a 22000 Class railcar is seen forming the 12:55 ex-Rosslare Europort onto the unfenced section of line approaching Wexford Station.
Piping Through Connolly

Sir Henry Inglesby's Fife and Drum Corps, led by John Richardson, plays its way through Dublin Connolly on the 21st August 2022. The Corps had travelled on the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland's Marble City tour to Kilkenny and return, serenading passengers all the way. As seen here, they had quite a following among passengers on the tour.

A 6-car DART, made up of 81/8300 Class units, makes its getaway from Dublin Pearse on Sat 13/11 with a Northbound service. The overall roof of Pearse Station makes a nice environment to hear the traction motor sounds of these units.

Nice
They were born, they waved the flag for the Southern east coast way, they were laid to rest.
Hi Duckman, a beautiful locomotive with a great pulling power, many thanks for sharing your video. Take care and stay safe :) :) :)
Amazing this I'm going to miss them
They are lovely indeed, real 80s travel. Hopefully Southern keep the BR Blue set around as cover after the timetable changes
Red coats in Dublin playing American marches that’s a sight
Exactly my thought lol the Battle Hymn of the Republic and the Marines' Hymn, probably the start of March of the Armed Forces LMFAO
They were piping away all day, all sorts of stuff. Since I was on duty most of the day, didn't have much time to film
Hi Duckman that's a sight you don't see very often, great stuff :) :) :)
Well, the band as a whole still play, I believe. We're doing another trip to Kilkenny later this year, but idk if they'll be on board for that
A cracking video Duckman, take care and stay safe :) :) :)
Cheers Colin, you too!
Never gonna lift you up Never gonna throw you down Never gonna lurch around And scare you
