Timestamps! We don't start at the hotel of course, we start in the middle of nowhere... Great! Time to start searching... The coordinates are 36.39713844059367, 138.5791368909825 ish... My elevation tracker tells me Pat is at 1400m or 4596ft above sea level, which means Pat indeed ascended 440m or 1.438ft just after breakfast, which is absolutely mental... 0:00 Hi Pat! 1:30 Destination for the day 2:42 Weather for the day 3:33 Peak reached (36.39970747642222, 138.57890838362246) 4:19 Sheer sizes of mountains... That in the distance is an active volcano, Mount Asama with 2550m or 8366ft 5:41 Mood on the street 6:39 Gearing for cold winds at Eating house Mine no Chaya 7:36 Downhill start! (36.40692109245602, 138.57032185890588) 9:20 Destination for lunch 11:14 Arriving at Ski House Karuizawa... If you were to make a righthand turn, there is an offroad raceway and like 3 golf courses that way, all next to an active volcano btw... 13:50 Arriving at Asama Highland Park, which is like a huge holiday resort 17:21 All the stuff on the left is still the holiday resort 18:23 What a view! 24:03 Slowpoke spotted 24:51 Quick stop (36.481326184997364, 138.5857577555565). Really interesting to see this post, which has the direction even in english... to Naganohare is 6.83 miles 26:51 Regaining the ability to hear (36.50199609321117, 138.58980378791844) 28:00 Photographing vintage cars at CAMICS car dealership (36.50858664608485, 138.59383959129778) 30:06 Photographing a small car at a solar park that surrounds a barbershop... I am pretty confident that this shop is using 100% green energy (36.51790673552936, 138.59846365961272) 31:32 Humongous truck incoming! 32:43 Ears popping and leaving the main street (36.52458114915538, 138.59974618296778) 34:00 Ok quick observation... Here in germany we also have these mirrors to check around corners, but these are found in urban areas. Here is one on a random forest path, together with guard rails... 39:23 Rejoining the main road that we departed from 5 minutes ago (36.545282808201016, 138.59989262563872) 40:14 Road construction and racing a bus 41:10 End of descent? 42:35 Pipes for Haneo power station which carry water from the Osozawa River and Haneo Shrine on the right 43:31 Photographing the third car this episode (36.55371535233925, 138.6164039867682) 43:43 Other cyclists and more descending And we end our episode at Mori-Tei restaurant (36.55184461444696, 138.6216022912885) My map says the restaurant is at 665.7m or 2184.1ft which is a ~734m or ~2.411ft drop in elevation And that makes 10 episodes of timestamps! Let's see how long I hold up doing these... This episode was kinda chill, as descending the only road in the area is not the most difficult thing to track...

I just got back from a biking tour myself today... Had a beautiful 43 mile ride along the Rhine river here in germany... First time that I ever rode this distance so I am quite pleased with myself... Of course nothing in comparison to Pat's 80 mile madness, so I need a bit more training until I can reach that distance... But I am pretty tired so timestamp time will have to wait

Take that! 16:11 On a tiny bike path 36.06197378477193, 139.4132967698113 19:34 Down hill section at 36.08689314540534, 139.4070522352263 20:31 Slightly too early left hand turn at 36.093068737606245, 139.4037446710318 21:30 Righthand downhill at 36.09496277138053, 139.40140886290075 22:04 Strange announcement 36.10807167212359, 139.38731045697855 22:44 Another downhill at 36.112436964837656, 139.3715092080686 23:57 Sit rep on a bike path along Karasawa River in Fukaya 36.18986345856635, 139.28530779830612 ... Between here and the previous location, Pat traveled 8.2 Miles (13.2km) and crossed our old friend, the Arakawa river again, which we left in episode 4 24:50 Shimodaiike Park 25:48 Still in Fukaya, crossing the tracks 36.19393397463098, 139.271201502988 (Also helmet mounted camera is back!) 26:09 Elevation update 26:53 The feeling of being on a proper road again 27:20 Cool looking Tenguchaya restaurant (36.22870464432756, 139.21675117843566) 27:48 Crossing the street and a vintage chevy? Roughly setting the route in google maps, then follow the road, comparing road bendiness and sporadically using street view to confirm the location... And I just happen to find the hotel on accident which was a really lucky find... I hope the next episodes don't have that many jump cuts.... See ya in the next one!

I was more wondering how well I can track you through google maps and it was kinda fun matching the satelite view to your perspective, with fun insights seeing what some of the locations were... One park was affiliated with a forest preservation organisation and I didn't know Asahi Beer headquarters had this flame thingy... If you like, you can put these in the video description which will add chapters to the video (a 0:00 timestamp is necessary or else youtube won't display them).
