I hate that it took 3 years for the algorithm to show me this; I’ve been gigging solo for years, before and after COVID and always wanted something more than just a single stomp box. I’ve been bringing an entire kick drum and a hi hat stand with a tambourine on it to gigs but something like this would make it so much easier 🙌🏻

Nicely done! I'm a keyboard player working on something similar with piezo elements and a midi drum interface Alesis io going into Ableton Live. It's been years and I still haven't hit where I wanna be with it yet. Wish the big manufacturers would come up with something lol. Anyways kudos to you it sounds great and really adds to your sound.

Farmer sell their kits for €2600 nowdays. Give it a few years and you’ll be doing EFootDrums and I’ll be buying them The farmers too big and clunky. If someone can make a legit compact electric version there’s a massive market for that

Hey James awesome video! The pedalboard is a great idea, I was thinking about a thinking about a large board like your prototype and putting Velcro on it to be able to move the pedals around if I wanted to, but I like the pedalboard idea and will probably do the same for a final version. I do have a wiring question that I haven’t been able to find online because this is such a niche project. I do not have the pin out for my specific drum module (alesis turbo) which I picked up for cheap just to try and make sure the foot drum system would work. When trying to match the leads on the piezos to the pins on the module I was running into an issue. Using a multimeter I expected to be able to find about 12 pairs of positive and negative pins, however I was only able to find one pair, and one of the pins (#13) completed the circuit to about 14 of the other pins. I’d like to know if you think this points to a faulty drum module (it was listed as new but it was bought on ebay refurbished) if you have any experience with this or could provide any more information specifically about connecting the sensors to the module that would be greatly appreciated!!

@James Not The Band wondering if you can answer a quick question. I have a 25 pin drum module and I am using a multimeter to find out which pins to plug the piezo sensors into. I was expecting to find about 12 pairs of positive and negative leads, however, I can only find one pair (2&3), and another one of the pins (13) seems to complete the circuit to 14 other pins (2,4,6,9,14,17,18,19,20,21,22,23,24,25). Does this point to a faulty module? Can't find anything about this online, help appreciated.

Dude, this idea has so much merit to it! I´ve been looking at different piezo and magentic pickup stompboxes, and can't understand why the commercial ones are so expensive...I guess it's more the woodworking than anything else. Love the idea of triggering samples rather than just a thud.

Compliment for your work! What i would like is the possibility of tap in stead of pressing with your foot . Also the possibility of tapping two pedals at the same time. Ans for me juist the right foot would be sufficiënt. I pay relaxed music. Have you seen the video about floordrum?

This is awesome man, I watched your intro video and this exactly what I want to do. Definitely going for the cam cole sound but the farmer kit has it’s downfalls for all the reasons you had mentioned (plus the price) I’m in mechanical engineering so all the electrical stuff doesn’t come as naturally to me. I’d love to see more videos on this or other prototypes, keep it up!
