Chateau des Mortiers
Приєднався 19 лип 2024
Join us in the restoration project of our family home: the château des mortiers, a project that started in 1983 when my parents bought a ruin with holes in the roof, and has been ongoing ever since! Through highs (every step of the restoration) and lows (the fire of 1999, and a 35-meter deep hole suddenly opening up on our land) it's a real adventure...
So much happened last week!

This was delightful! So candid, homey and bi cultural. Quite a demonstration of amiable co-existence that we can relate to easily here in Quebec. Love your comments the sound could be better but still a charm❤. Hope you get many more subscribers
Dankjewel voor de update over jullie kasteel en voor het renoveren en behouden ervan 👍🏻
Joyeux anniversaire à votre maman!🎂
Happy 80th birthday to your mom.
Hello , It’s a bit blurry at times and unsteady!😊
Yes, something we have to work on
I really enjoy your videos. May I suggest that it is a little hard to hear much of your videos? Sometimes it is not loud enough. It always sounds a bit muffled like you might be speaking through a pillow. Thanks for sharing your journey in a magnificent house and surroundings.
It depends who is filming and which camera or phone is used. We'll try to make the quality better!
Hello, I’m sorry about the death of your beloved horse. Sad. I like the mix of the renovation of your chateau and real life occurrences. I do feel like some background content is missing. Did you produce any video content dealing about your relationship to this chateau? How you fit in as it were, where is the chateau situated in France, etc., etc. You have a bit in the summary. I did not find any such content but maybe your approach is to share a bit about the background in each video. I’m not asking for any private specifics, just yo see how you fit into this chateau. Thanks
I'm going to address all that little by little, I am going to make one video specifically about how my parents found this chateau which is in Normandy, between Rouen and Caen. The channel is quite new ;-)
I love chateau ❤ saludos desde Argentina
Fascinating history. I've just subscribed and am looking forward to the restoration journey
well spoken lady. loving the history. ❣

What a beautiful house ❤
So sorry for you loss❤
“The Moons” a you tube channel that home retired horses may know where to find those bags. So sorry for loss of your beloved pet. I couldn’t remember his name. Thanks for sharing .
Comments are not working. Try Cavalry Style Mesh Horse Feed Bags.
Yes Cats, but they should be “fixed” or you’ll get over run with farrow cats.
Get some cats they stop them . We have 4 cats they not always inside but we do not have a Mice or Rat problem .
Beautiful place ❤
So sorry for your loss.
Amazing work they did. and the collors wauw
What a stunning Chateau new sub here , just found the channel as watching my other Chateau channels . But so very sorry for the loss of your lovely horse , i wonder what he must of had or just maybe the cold weather and his age . I have horses too, its never easy and the pain in your heart never goes away from the loss . Take care loo forward to watch more .
I'll touch on that in the next video.
The little room could be used as a linen closet for the bedrooms! Niagara 🇨🇦
That's a really good idea! I'll submit it to the rest of 'the crew'.
I'm so sorry for your loss ❤
Subscribed and liked❤
I’ve noticed on others restoration shows that I don’t see people putting stick on felt pads under legs of chairs, tables, beds, etc. In fact under all furniture. Is there not such a thing sold there? I would so hate to see your beautiful floors marred. I’m sure Amazon sells. A very inexpensive solution.
Now we have a proper floor down we're going to think about this.
So, so beautiful!
Thank you! 😊
I just discovered your channel and I’m binge watching. What a delightful surprise! Oh my gosh. Those floors!
Thanks so much! 😊
So very sorry for the loss of your Noddy. <3
He was a real fighter
😞sorry for your loss
Best to you and yours
Your family has done a beautiful job. I know France's tax changes, taxing assets and not income, must have been a challenge for you, but I believe thise changes have been abandoned (?). In any event, so glad you have preserved this piece of France's past.
I'm pretty sure every possible thing is taxed... thanks for watching!
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about his sudden illness and death. 16 is young for a horse, it must be very hard on you all.
He was 26, but still very fit for his age and prancing around just days before this happened.
I just discovered your channel this morning and began with several of your posting with how the renovation process is going. And then I watched this and it just broke my heart. What a beautiful horse, your companion for many years, and now gone. I am so very sorry.
I'm very sorry for your loss. Wishing you the best...
What a beautiful creature Noddy was. That cant have been easy for you to say goodbye, so sorry for your loss
That's very kind. Yes, not knowing what caused him to become ill is the worst part. I'd had him exactly half my life.
super , beaucoup de charme félicitations
Bravo!C’est très reussi!❤
Is it possible for you to hold your phone/camera in the landscape position all of the time? It makes a big difference for viewing. Otherwise, enjoying your videos very much.
Yes, we need to remember to do that! I'm not always filming myself but we will try to bear it in mind.
Absolutely beautiful.
Pegs. Most buildings hundreds of years ago used only pegs. Then little by little they created hand made nails, then they squared them off. Eventually we come to what we have today. The pegs allow for contraction and expansion due to weather. Love the music.
Yes that's it, pegs. And it's what's between the squares of parquet that enables them to stay together mostly, I'll go into this when I make a video for the other wing of the house. Corrections are always welcome :-)
I'm really looking forward to seeing more of the house.
@@kimberleybrooks2658 looking forward to it too!
