This is so false period and this is probably the only thing I don't agree with Kevin about ! I know a lot of professionals who are managers , supervisors , bosses etc that wear long dreads as I ! It's all about how you carry yourself and your mannerisms but if people want to be so shallow and think like that it's their prerogative but not true for everyone PERIOD !!!!

Imagine telling someone they will have to cut their hair for a day that's not even promised? Imagine cutting the years of learning about hair types, learning to take car of my hair, and learning how to be handsome in a different way-all because I want to make a bit more money? I have dignity and respect to not grovel for bait.

I will keep my hair as I get my master's degree, I will keep my hair in academia, I will keep it while I get my Ph.D., I will keep it while I rise up the academic ladder. If we can't stand for ourselves then there is a.problem. That you are comfortable with cutting your hair does not mean others are.

This depends, but overal this is were Kevin showed his age a little bit. Many of them older folks just dont like dreads as mature men, and than use the corporate world as an excuse but its just a personal grudge and a old mindset. They see that as the same 'image' as white guys who are surfdudes hanging on the beach but not understanding many with such a look are growing just as much in the corporate ladder. Ironically nowadays the higher the function the less you might be in office anyways as many work remotely from home or whatever. RIP Kevin🙏🏾 your missed!

One of the biggest mistakes we’ve ever made as black people was trying to be included in what they had rather than build and advance our own. It was cool to fight for equality but while we were gaining the right to sit at the booth in their restaurants, we should have been building up our own. Why try to be the ceo of their company when we can be the owners of our own. Our dollars make soooo many people rich. Our style, culture, and everything about us make their companies richer!

With in blk ppl (not Jamaicans/carribeans or Africans) dreads/locs was just a late 90s early 2000s trend that caught on. Now all of sudden we’re in this woke culture and acting like our parents and their parents was wearing dreads. Acting like we got this deep rooted dread culture that only been around in our culture for 25 years max!!!

There's a lot of steps to have your own company, such as having the skills and the MONEY, which usually comes in the form of a bank loan. And you better have a good credit score. But if you can meet these requirements, then go for it.

My feelings are mixed on this. It depends on how they are groomed and how the person wears them. And how long. I had to talk to a few teen boys about wearing their locks unwisely over their eyes so that can barely see. Or one I knew that wore them deliberately over his face to intimidate. Like really?

Kev doesn't realise how much power is in those spirals, and the corporate companies would hire more people with locks if they knew it too. Cutting them off is only gonna turn down that power and you won't be able to do the job as well. He needs to look into locks styles that work in the corporate world and convince those companies through actual good workers.

This is a true statement. Even within our own communities dreads are seen as unclean and unkept. The black church demonizes dreads and rarely do you see men with dreads do anything but be parishioners. Companies, churches, organizations have a look and unless you fit that mold it’s difficult to progress forward despite skill and ability.

That’s just a kiss a** mentality. A black man can be very intelligent with locs. So having hair shouldn’t make difference on achieving positive success.

  • @lovely_beauty

Nina, you look beautiful! I started my locs at 26 and cut them this year. You were one of the first loc girlies I followed on YT during my journey. I felt the same way this year, I’d evolved and life was beginning to move in a new direction. The journey has taught me to “never say never” because I swore I would neverrrr cut my locs. Thank you for sharing your journey with us through the years. ❤

I have worked in corporate positions my entire life and I have locs and I have worked with many black successful men with locs. If you change your hair to fit in then you will always find yourself changing to the European standard. I have never seen white people force their own to change to make it. Know your worth. To be honest I have moved up more with my locs. My confidence in myself if higher which translate to my work. To each their own.
