The reason the girl survived so long is, after the first film he was resurrected at the end, one of his powers is the ability to keep his victims alive for as long as he has fun with them, even if they would die of blood loss, fatal injuries, shock, etc. The reason her death was so bad was she called him a Mime, if you disrespect him like the girl in the first film that got the worst death , this girl's death is longer and worse because he didnt have the power to keep anyone in the first film alive until he is brought back after suicide, the film doesnt outright say it but both the director who writes and produces the film and the practical effects, and the guy playing art the clown have mentioned both reasons, but not in the film, so it makes it seem ridiculous on that bedroom kill, but he kept her alive and tortured her worse for calling him a mime, and then wanted to make sure the mom seen and thats why he let her die once she walked in and she said mom lol. It makes him even more fucked up, and it would be terrifying to have to be on the end of that agony without being able to just die. Dont worry in the 3rd it has a few kills that make the bedroom scene seem like a joke lol. They literally have 0 boundaries in the 3rd.

One of the best season 2 episodes if not the best. It incorporates all sides of the story and does what this season set out to do and that's to make the world feel bigger. I think it was Omar's actor that took problem with the focus of the season and told the showrunner "I thought this was for us?" And David Simon told him "It made your world feel small" and it all made sense to him after that. This season does an incredible job at showing that there's so many moving pieces that we just don't see and every season builds on that idea
