Got a ‘79 one. Active circuit is dead - it never worked without some hissing. I bought it around ‘85 for 250€ when I was 21. Stopped playing for 30 years. Took it out its original case when Covid struck. The sound and quality is still there. Since its resurrection, I bought a Musician fretless, a Roadster ‘79 and a Japanese ‘96 ATK300… My playing sucks but at least I have cool gear! I also bought a couple of budget Matsumoku Westone ‘80 basses - they are very good so the Ibanez one’s can enjoy their cases and I don’t have to stress denting them. Cheers from Flanders!

Good sounding bass! What are the first 2 digits of on the back of the headstock? I’m curious about the year of production

I have this exact bass. i don't play bass, but I got it new years ago because I could, and so I could have people over to play. It listed for $1,500 and I got it for half that. I can't find any info on what the five knobs do. I'm guessing they're separate volume and tone controls for each pick-up, but the fifth stacked knob has me stumped. No amp to check it out now. Can you give me a little more info? Every bass player who has played it has thought it to be great, and I've enjoyed hearing those who know what they're doing play it. At the very least it is gorgeous. Serial number indicates it was MIJ in May of 2001.

Great bass. I have it in natural. It’s one of my favorite basses I’ve ever owned. Yamaha quality is awesome.

That's a nice bass. There's one exactly like this on eBay auction right now. Has some paint chips on the body and broken nut, but otherwise looks very nice. I very much like the color/material combination.

I have the same exact bass made in 00’. Have you ever experienced an awful buzzing sound when turning up the treble? Goes away depending which way the bass is facing. Wondering if you would know of a fix. Thank you

I am tempted to pick this up. Dean makes great stuff. I still love my DBZ Royale with JB/Jazz upgrade. One of my top guitars out of many inuding far more expensive models.

A lot of fret buzz needs adjustment

I have a 2008 model, same color/colour scheme. Lovely bass. Question - do you run into any issues with plugging it into any device (amp, pedal, whatever) that is plugged into a wall with bad grounding/earthing? I get the worst electrical hum/buzz in some venues and it is really bothering me. I love the bass otherwise / that neck! That color/colour!

Thanks a lot. For showing what the push button is for. I think it's out of order on the one I bought 2nd hand. Still pleasant bass for home use.

the switch is actually a Q switch. not an active/passive switch. it changes the Tone from a standard tone knob (similar to one-it's actually a Low pass filter) to a Low Pass Filter with a boost in the Q which is a resonant peak. This gives it more of a distinct voice as you sweep through it and more interesting tone changes.

80 Ibanez MC-924DS Musician Bass - MIJ Fujigen .

I get that exactly bass today for 160 bucks in a pawn shop. It Just need some paint job but sounds amazing! Was very hard to find information about that bass, even i thought that it was a fake fender bass guitar cause of the shape of the headstock which is not common on fender bass guitars or i also though that was probably modded by his old owner (for the gotoh stock tunners and the noiseless pickup) Thanks for your video! It is one of the few source information that exist from this instrument.
