    Nice! It's really cool to see all the movements that have to happen for a good sling throw. It's really useful to see the slow-mo next the full-speed throws.

    This demonstrates how an ancient slinger would have been able to perform the role of a human cannon on the battlefield, with an unlimited supply of ammunition

    Man! I'm blown away- the power you're putting into these stones is just incredible.Would you mind if I (eventually) uploaded a response to this vid in the next week or so? I'm making another sling again finally, and I'm trying to focus on getting better for next year. haha! Cheers! -Chris

      Great clip. AA's seems better for distance and projectiles on the lighter side; he is so quick. I am "trying" to use more of a discus form that I think lets you throw heavier or maybe use a longer sling if there is clearance

    • @hsaunwtyeerrs
      @hsaunwtyeerrs 5 місяців тому

      I think that it's the magnus effect. When throwing light balls that do not submerge, they skip straight or to the right. I have tried to get some good slo mo; but my phone doesn't really cut it. And my best footage was on my old phone that is sitting at the bottom of the pond 😅

    I think you've got some serious distance potential. Have you been able to get any confirmed distance throws?(like throwing beyond a known distance, like a lake)

    • @hsaunwtyeerrs
      @hsaunwtyeerrs 6 місяців тому

      I have found a few golfballs at 210-220 yards throwing over that first treeline, not sure how much rolling there would be. That would probably be around my max stone distance too. I think light projectiles go further for me because of my mobility and cross country runner physique... so I may need to start bulking, lol

    • @IronGoober
      @IronGoober 6 місяців тому

      @@hsaunwtyeerrs 220 yards PAST the treeline?... That's certainly 300+ yards which is awesome. I think my best golf ball throw is somewhere in that range. My best distance stones weigh anywhere from 45-60g. Heavier doesn't got as fast, so not as far, and lighter go faster but lose velocity too fast and so they don't go as far. So I also see light ammo travel further, I think that's pretty normal.

    • @hsaunwtyeerrs
      @hsaunwtyeerrs 6 місяців тому

      Sorry, 220 total. There was one around 250 yards, but I think that was from a day there were crazy winds. I will try and paint some rocks to get some numbers but 300 seems pretty far off

    • @IronGoober
      @IronGoober 6 місяців тому

      @@hsaunwtyeerrs I bet you are closer than you think. Ive found I get max distance when I throw at a 35 degree angle, which feels like I'm throwing at a 45 or higher. That made a big difference in distance for me .

    • @hsaunwtyeerrs
      @hsaunwtyeerrs 7 місяців тому

      Thanks, coming from someone with distance like yours that means a lot. I only played some in elementary, but liked throwing stuff in general. I have looked into some throwing mechanics but its hard to identify where to improve

    • @IronGoober
      @IronGoober 7 місяців тому

      @@hsaunwtyeerrs I know the struggle. In my opinion, the identification is a slow and steady process. Every time I think I've peaked, I'll notice some nuance of a pitcher or another slinger, make the change, see the improvement and realize I can continue to improve. A big one for me lately is staying "closed" during the initial part of the throw, i.e. counter-rotated. Basically I try to keep my back toward the target for as long as possible. This has really helped my velocity. That's just one of many, but is my most recent realization. Keep it up man! With your mechanics, I bet you have a lot more in the tank!

    U should do a slo mo video with a 2 color ball so u can c what kind of spin u r getting.

    • @hsaunwtyeerrs
      @hsaunwtyeerrs 4 місяці тому

      I painted half on a few but it is still kinda hard to tell without going frame by frame even with the slow mo and the quality makes it so you cant see the spin when they are out in the water. I might make a video at some point but editing slow mo is a hassle lol
