2:00 the menuet with it's thematic recurrence is just breathtaking I think it brought me something I had never experienced before.

He was a teenager when he wrote this. Definitely under 20. It's so beefy and typically Bach. Vivacious and spirited and if you ask me: a little looney at the end. LOL. He was trying to impress his brother. I hope it worked. We're all impressed so it must have. I'm always curious about large chords in the left hand. Surely it sounded like mud on those old claviers but he had many of them here.

Has anyone ever tried giving it a short ending so it doesn’t feel incomplete? (e.g. the Göncz version of Bach Contrapunctus 14 or Tibor Serly’s version of Bartók’s viola concerto?) Edit: nevermind; the internet answered that for me.

No 2 reminds me so much is Chopins op 45 prelude with its cascading baseline nd undulating harmonies shinning from light to dark…

Scriabin is such a genius. His later pieces so such chaos yet it’s structured. It’s very ugly but beautiful at times with different shades and expressions evoked.

Amazing piece. I was rather disappointed by the later symphonies, but this one was truly an exception. Perhaps his struggles after the stroke allowed him to produce more profound material?
