Great example of the rating system in action. Ships of the line (3+) almost outright beat frigates (5th-6th) and frigates nearly outright beat brigs (unrated).

Technically the unit that took the charge from the board should have been off the table, as casualties have to come off of one side or the other. Either way that puts you over the table edge, or o. Contact with a unit that would force you to pop over, and off of the table. That said, it’s a friendly game, and I’m sure your mate was happy to feed his pigs.

So couple of things you may want to think on. Don't split your forces. There is a trick you can try with march column. Let them charge you, FBIGO and reform at an angle that will allow support units to charge in the flank.

I am all for normal Orcs, plain old Orc Boyz. I have two largwe (30) mobs and try to field both (usually at 24 though). One often becoems Big ´uns... In 5th Ed you needed as many normal as you had Big ´uns - which I like. But it needs to be similar for everyone.. Look at High Elves, how many spear elves do yuo see? OCompared to the Elite infantry..? So.

The difference in base sizes is the thing that stopped me going over to The Old World straight away (my friends and I play 7th Edition). I have now started getting conversion trays from Blotz and War Bases, but for my Wood Elves I have painted up more elves with bows on 25mm square bases as individual skirmishers are not great in individual spacer-trays. Of course you can't buy wood elves at the moment so I used Oathmark elves instead.

A very good battle report. Not too long, well explained and lovely models and terrain. Beastmen are one of the highest rated armies in The Old World and this battle report shows why. I don't think Dryads cut it anymore. They were very good in 7th Edition and formed the bulk of my army. But strength 3 and 6+ regen doesn't cut it now, especially as they cannot flee. Wood Elf scouts are only two points more than standard glade guard and are a far better option I think.

Alas a game that on the surface shows off, the weaknesses of the Daemons, while demonstrating the strengths of the O&G armies. Or is it a cunning plan by Tzeentch to lure you all in to a sense of overconfidence.

The rules for deploying Helicopters during a meeting engagement is on page 86 "The first players Strike Aircraft cannot arrive their first turn and Helicopters must Loiter Off Table (see page 29) in their first turn." The Sheridan's armor is so bad because its an aluminum hull. It should have the parachute rule like the VDV but they did not update it with it. My friend LOVES putting his Infantry in his hueys then sticking them in reserve. Oh Warsaw is trying to push through 20 sheridans? Guess I'll drop the infantry behind on an objective. It sounds stupid but SOMEHOW he makes it work. Every. Dang. Time. If you want tanks in low points, how about M60 Pattons? Its like, 3 tanks for 4 points or something like that. I do think that the Sheridan is one of the best NATO tanks. That Firepower of 1+ (AKA Auto) on AT 23 is pretty dang huge (or its AT 21, I get the AT's mixed up with its missile). I do like the 50 point idea, I might have to try some.

Entertaining battle. Love it. Goblins/giants are really effective this edition. Going to be interesting to figure out how to stop them with my druchii. If they plow through dwarfs i shutter to think what my wobbly knees elves will do.

Baltimores and Fletchers are your friends when it comes to the USN carrier fleets. Baltimores are decent cruisers with advanced radar and 1943 fletchers can take 1 scout aircraft and advanced radar. My friend's carrier fleet usually gets to the 10+ for scouting dice before even rolling for the scout aircraft, that puts all your aircraft in the air. Huh, never thought about building a fleet AFTER you roll for scenario. Always did it how you talk about (army first then scenario). You should look at house ruling the Italian Dive Bomber (forget its name) for the carrier, the book's description literally says its supposed to be on the Aquila. In the base rules fighters cannot drop damage, you have to take them as bombers. I'd look at the fan made Admiralty Rules and alternate points system, makes the carriers more balanced against each other (also fixes some issues with carriers in the base rules). You can find the Admiralty Rules here: vas-admiralty-rules.com/ The alternate points can be found over on the Victory at Sea Wardroom (unofficial) facebook page as well as the fan Discord- (Community) Victory At Seas -(not sure if I can post the link here). The guy who wrote the Admiralty Rules has gotten the green light to write an official carrier based supplement for VAS by warlord themselves. I love both the paint jobs on the fleets btw

Great game as always and so happy to see you back on VaS! Both of you as identified need to maximise your scouting points if you want to use fleet carriers properly. The 3 x 45 point radar and scout aircraft carrying fletchers are great for adding acouting dice to the pool. The game looked fun though which was the main thing afterall. The New Mexicos are great brawlers.

6:16, Wait, so you’re telling me you managed to get three Catastrophic Explosions on the same Littorio in a row…? Indiscriminate yahtzee king, most certainly. Honestly, though I agree that it’d likely ruin the night if you went with it, maybe the RNG gods were trying to tell you guys something by that point. They wanted that Littorio to die, no matter how it’s done.

Nice to see the Regia Marina again. The Littorio class is pure sex.

I’m really enjoying the channel. I love the tactical analysis during and at the end of the game. This one was just listhammer though. Even better dice wouldn’t have impacted it that much. You could tell the result from before a dice was rolled. I think it’s important to seperate list building skills (usually bypassed with the internet) and actual gameplay skills.
