The price will continue to go up if we support subscriptions! Once they have you, they will get a lot more money out of you in the future. A lot more. This is bait to get you to subscribe. Stay with version 1 or the perpetual version of v2, but don't pay anything more for updates, extras, etc. That is a trap. Don't support subscription and they will come back to buying with updates without subscriptions. They will fool us only if we support the subscription payments. Don't go subscription!

The update pass model makes 2.0 completely pointless. I don't think 2.0 would be much of an upgrade from 1.x (already does what I need) which makes 2.0 without future upgrades for the version just not worth it.. I'll reevaluate at 3.0... maybe, at least that will have 2.0 features and all upgrades. If they need more revenue, release versions more than once every 10 years.. Done. I have Paintstorm Studio 20$, Krita is Free, Rebelle 5 and Artrage Vitae were about 80$, and Corel Painter. Corel Painter releases new versions every year for about 30$ on Humble Bundle around October - November. THAT ALONE makes Clip Studio 2.0 NOT WORTH IT.... I would wager most people would think Painter is better anyway, but there normal pricing for painter is ridiculous at 429$. There are just WAY too many options for them to pull this crap. If I wanted a subscription, I'd go back to photoshop. Also I feel like Clip Studio needs a reality check, and NOT buying 2.0 at all might just be that reality check. Keep using 1.x and get other software.

there are still free apps out there like fire alcapa or medibang or krita they dont have ads and they are always free

I payed for the 45€ version a little less than a year ago, i am the type of artist that doesn't draw digitally very often but when i do i want a good drawing app. To me subscription simply isn't worth it as i may draw 3 times a month i may not draw at all. Too bad they are changing the one time purchase.

I just don't like the idea of buying a perpetual version then paying for DLC updates (up date pass) that only last a year doesn't feel great. It would be different if you keep your updates that you paid for vs renting them. Just feels like ransomware when you paid for your program (or even a program version) out right so you don't have to have another subscription but still pay for updates to that version that aren't permit is not great.

I had clip studio paint for about a year now and this breaks my heart. I don't have money because im a student and a small artist.. I now I got to find a other art program to do my work

This reeks of wanting to charge customers for a new versions every year, but not wanting to have to add anything new every year to give people a reason to upgrade. They will add a few big items next year, and then the program with stagnate, in a few years, they will want everyone to have to keep sending money, even though almost nothing of substance has changed...otherwise the kick your arse back to the 2022 version - no thanks - I'll just transition anything more I need to Affinity, Rebelle and Krita

Some things I neglected to mention: 1) You may be able to avoid the subscription only by paying for the program all over again. The only way this really benefits you is if the subscription service is cheaper than the $50-200 program. Also, if your subscription pass expires and you choose not to renew, you will be bounced back to whatever perpetual version you bought last. For most people, that will be 1.x. If you decide to buy the program again when 2.0 releases, which is still a lot of money, you will be bounced back to that version in the event that you cancel your subscription. 2) This one is kinda bad. I completely skipped over the last Q&A point. If you get bounced back, you will be unable to edit anything in your artwork done with newer features you no longer have access to. I think this is kind of fucked up.
