Although the source material is not that good, it is worth preserving as is. This is the complete episode Ukrainian Cooking with host Anne Wanstall, Toronto Star food critic at the time, and guest Nadia Worobec. The sh...

In the 1970s, Knob Hill Farms, a Toronto area grocery superstore, used this generic commercial. The only things that changed, week to week, were the specials. This is the oldest Knob Hill Farms commercial I was able to find. Aug. 7, 1978

This is an early Knob Hill Farms TV commercial when they only had 4 grocery super stores. These commercials, in the 1970s, ran on ethnic TV shows in Toronto and were dubbed into the appropriate language. This one is the Ukrainian version but it is self explanatory. In the 1980s, Knob Hill Farms went to straight English language TV commercials to save on cost.
Natalka Poltavka 1954 Ukrainian France movie complete

This 1954 version of Natalka Poltavka was considered lost and is presented here in its entirety by request. The film was made in France by post World War II Ukrainian emigres. It is an ultra low budget movie - effort of Borys Dniprowyj. In 1951, Dniprowyj somehow obtained a fair quantity of color film and decided to do something about it. The result is a screen version of Natalka Poltavka which...

Can you post more from this series. I remember watching these on pbs in the early 1990s
Hello! My name is Nadia, I am a Kyiv-based documentary director. I am currently working on a film about Jaques Hnizdovsky. I would like to ask your permission to use this video in my film. It would also be amazing to have it in a better quality. Let me know how to discuss the details. Looking forward to hearing from you!
THEY LOOK LIKE UKRAINIAN WARRIOR koZAKS,,,,GREAT FOR THAT TIME ,,STORY MOVES NICE AS IN THE hOHOL BOOK,,GOGOL IS RUSSIAN NAME ,,HOHOL WAS UKRAINIAN ,,NOT PUTLERS DNA!
how do you get your hands on these films? Amazing and wonderful!
This is the Shumka I grew up with and I love it!
Thank you for posting this! Slava Ukraina!
Just the fact that beyond St. Clair was considered to be the northern outskirts requiring an extra fare is wild!
I think the version with Yul Brenner was better but this is a good film
women actually dresse dlike women , dresses and skirts unlike today .
most of the peopel in this video are dead besides maybe a couple kids if they were lucky to live this long.. you're looking at peopel who were once here but now gone forever.
@sonnyc3826, thanks for pointing that Captain Bringdown. My great uncle who was a pilot in the RCAF during WW2 had already been gone 3 years when this film came out. All those people in the film had the same amount of time on earth as you or I. Time is fleeting. We’re here for but a moment, then gone. Make the most of it.
I understand all the hatred of the so-called Ukrainians towards the Russians, indeed towards the so-called Muscovy, but I would like to remind you that Khrushchev and Brezhnev were Ukrainians.
NINE FARES!!!! kinda looks like fun jammin on that ol tram though
Yes I remember in the 60's another fare was paid going north on Dufferin st. at Briar hill just north of Eglington.
I remember in the 90s when there was a lot of helicopters flying all over Sudbury with those magnetometers flying under them. A few small mines have opened up since. Canada Nickel has plans to build world's second largest nickel mine in Timmins. All the exploration of the past 40yrs is starting to pan out. There will be generations of new miners in the North for a long time to come. Sadly, most of the men in this vid as miners are most likely all dead or dealing with serious health issues from years of breathing in dust and other debris from being in the mines for many years. Technology, equipment, methods of mining have improved over the years, but one thing stays the same, sore backs, hard workers in harsh conditions and the consistent fight with big companies for workers rights and benefits.
Good ol Soviet traditions mixed with modern Ukrainian ones.
Where was this meant to be shown? I never saw this on TV as filler back in the 70’s or 80’s. Has anyone ever seen this prior to UA-cam?
52 million in 1991 20 million in 2024 and who knows how much worse it will get.
Thanks for posting. I didn't know this video existed
Thanks for uploading sometimes the algorithm is good.. great work
the year is 1978, not 978.
Good observation - typo has been corrected
This is a great film! I'm working on a TVO documentary about Elliot Lake and wanted to know if you had any more information about this film and where we could find the original. Thanks!
I'm trying to locate the original. Thirty years since the unique transfer to a VHS tape was made.
@@edmonton906 Thank you for trying to track that down. It's incredible that it was that long ago. Any info or the original you can find is appreciated. Thank you!
thank you for posting this video.
I laughed out loud when they said that the TTC was quick, convenient, safe and costs little to go that way...None of that is true anymore.
Whoever found in curated this should be congratulated a wonderful movie thank you thank you thank you
I miss the grey coach buses!
I really miss the Gray coach buses as I was hired in 1988 as a furlough driver for Gray Coach later to be hired by the TTC.
All of this occurred before Subways were even thought of
I love the march of the valkyries
Interesting that the PCC streetcar still look pretty modern
Boy those ancient Witt Street cars are really something
Oh my God the orchestral track is so drab.
They're not all churches there are synagogues as well
I've had this film on my Q for a long time and forgot to upvote it, I Thank you for this wonderful film.
Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦
I love the Ukrenglish!
It was life growing up. I remember many times going to the country church for my mom's baba, gido, and aunt and uncle for this. It grounded me to my roots and to the farm. These people were so resilient and strong.
