There were test servers for a period a few months ago (40 ping just north of Perth), but they are hosted in Southern Asia for the most part, hence the constant 200 ping and 10-20% pl you get most games here.

I don't like spamming fakours, so I'm using only 2 each game and playing as a dogfighter/improved phantom style missile bus to engage people with my other 6 missiles. I get 2 kills with the fakours most of the time, though I'm sometimes too late firing and a missile slams a dead target, so that's likely why it looks like I'm using them wrong, though I assure you what I'm doing gets kills almost every time, and it's the part where I try to have fun with the plane that makes getting 6 kills more difficult.

I'll go ahead and try this, though I was having issues with tws unlocking things, and trying to maintain the tws lock just left me unable to defend the incoming fakours

Mig drifting is a type of post stall maneuver, just nicknamed that because of the mig 21s affinity for it, especially after losing it's vertical stab.

@moldypotato4656 Completely true, but that missile tracked in the replay, he just beefed it with a last second turn.

This is mostly correct but launching in STT does not give a launch warning since unlike a fox 1 missile it does not use a CW illuminator for guidance and is only giving the missile position information. There will of course be a lock warning

@@TheTemplarnight yeah, figuring out which settings to bind, and what key controls what is a pain. Just focus on getting the setting that switches the mode and the scan type so you can lock specific targets or scan for enemies. That on its own will boost your performance a lot, especially as you learn what works against you so you can use those tactics yourself against the IRIAF and F4s spam.

Yeah, the next tech leap is gonna be a goofy one, and they will likely make one side or the other pissed about it.

First of all, keyword there is similar. Second, flight performance is one thing, handling is another (you could tie that into performance I guess but I prefer to view them separately). Third, I'd argue the Jeff is still overperforming and doing things it shouldn't. And finally, the hornet really isn't all that great. Don't know why everyone thinks it is (at least not with the fucking 10 AMRAAM 2 Aim-9 loadout). (No DCS is not an accurate representation) Even if so, the game's control schemes make planes perform entirely differently than they otherwise would. You could give it the DCS flight model but if you're flying using your keyboard, you're still going to shit your speed away. The flight models aren't always bad because the flight models are bad, sometimes they're bad because of the control scheme/input. This is PRECISELY why fighting in Sim is so much different. In RB with keyboard, you can't sit and do a 3/4-1/2 pull in the M2K to gain speed while turning, you're constantly full back on the elevators, tap turning at best. In Sim with a stick you can, while also not fighting the instructor either when you do full pulls. Test FM's there and more often than not they're pretty accurate (except still being able to pull excessive G loads of 15+). Everyone wants them to be accurate in RB with full elevator input, its not that easy. Even if they were to people would still fucking complain.

Uhh. U cannot do that in DCS. What you CAN do is to turn off the Fly by wire and you can pull 1 or 2 extra Gs.

@@Falcon_Verse i went back and took a look at the exact settings you need to change. you make the FCS_Pitch_rate_gyro 2 fail via the dcs failures page along with the FCS_AOA_Sensor_2 this should give you a failure on your FCS page with an X in channel B you then flick your flight test I and II to the up position and turn on the record button. you will then find you can do some interesting stuff in the JF17

Yeah, a lot of my games were 10+ f14s on each team, so there weren't a lot of those other planes to take down. Definitely interested in making some lore accurate cinematics in the future but I can't do them for a few weeks cause I'm traveling back to the US 🫠
