big like
Truly great. Do you perform live?
thanks, no I don’t anymore
@@herring-instruments That’s a shame.
Best cover of this song I’ve found. Beautifully recorded too. Thanks!
Hi Chris, this is fantastic, thank you. Do you by any chance have the tab available to download/purchase anywhere as a PDF? Cheers!
Great song! I’m learning guitar and can’t quite figure out the picking pattern. Could you tell me the order?
Wonderful ! Thank you for the shedload of content you have given us this year Chris, I really appreciate it. I honestly don't know how you do it, I take 2 months to learn one piece, and still can't play it like you. Absolute machine, and I am so glad to be alive to hear you play.
I'm on my third straight listen and I can't stop. What a classic. It's right up there with the greats, shoulder-to-shoulder. It reminds me of Oisin Leech's new album, although you did it first. Cheers!
👍🏻 should be writing more, I think
Oh man, you hit my sweet spot. What an enchanting song. Great performance. I love your voice on this. Bravo!
Thanks Steve!
The guitar sounds great! As you do too (of course).
What a wonderful piece of music. Bravo!
Splendid! Happy Christmas, Chris - thanks for all the music this year!
Really beautiful arrangement and well played. Guitar sounds nice.
Gotta love that British Folk Rock!
Miss Bert. I was so lucky to see him live once at the Troubadour in LA many years ago. He rocked!

Beautiful! Glad I found your channel!
So cool how you added the biographical info on Jackson's life. Such a beautifully written song! Love your rendition! Wow... Did Marlene die in the fire? I knew his story yet never really thought about it while listening to the song before.
Responding to my own comment... I researched that fire! How sad! So many folks remember it and are so deeply scared by the memories. Marlene saved Jackson's life. What an angel! Now the song reduces me to uncontrollable tears. They did not let the kids talk about and process it. Bless everyone. Poor Jackson. No wonder her struggled so much. What a great recounting of the event. You have a lovely voice sir!
thankyou!
@herring-instruments oh and also I found out the school that burned was the elementary school. Everyone was evacuated to the high school. But the elementary school was made of wood. They were in 6th grade music class. His 11 year old girlfriend gave her life to save his. I think its safe to say it was probably his first love.
@ yes definitely
Beautifully done, Chris!
Lovely cover Chris, always a good day to listen to another quality upload from you.
Sehr schön, wenn du dazu singst. Sing doch auch mal auf deutsch - ich weiß, das ist oft schwieriger...
Beautiful 😊
Better flow than the original and that 2nd guitar is mighty fine..
Quality. My reading glasses are much the same as the one on the left side.
Fantastic. This is one of my favourite pieces of music of all, and I am always super critical of any cover. You have a deft touch Chris, which is needed to make this sound anything like the original, and yes it is different but in it's own way you have recorded a superb performance, massive respect to you, well done sir, I'm sure you must be very happy with this.
many thanks, Nik
Chris… these old school little tunes are relics of a long-gone better world and times… the HUGE difference with recent days acoustic guitar wizardry is that Bert and John’s tunes have a magic, a melody and a poetic feeling simply lacking on some of the most challenging pieces played by revered musicians. Bravo 👏🏽
thanks Stefano!
Another perfect 10, thanks!
I thank you!
I've played a Scarth and owned a fylde. Video perfectly conjours up both guitars' personalities. Terrific !
cheers, Max!
Very lovely indeed, Chris. Beautifully done.
Thanks Keith!
Excellent.
Thank you!
I see John‘s playing his replica Scarth and Bert‘s playing the Falstaff! 😀 Great stuff!
This is my favorite Jackson's Tune, Well done Sir!
That was great - loved it 🙂
A delight - beautifully done, Chris.
Excellent! Lovely rendition!
Excellent! Thanks for sharing.
Tabs?!??!!!??????!!! Please
Hello, it is in John Renbourn’s songbook 2
Amazing cover!
Speed isn't everything. Heart is.
Wow! I just adore your playing and arrangements. The fact that I really love John Renbourn only adds to the mix. Cheers!
Loving these Renbourn tunes you’ve been playing lately Chris, excellent as always 👍
You just got a new subscriber - ANOTHER set of YT rabbit holes to discover - you, sir are one fine guitarist
thankyou! enjoy ☺️
Nice rendition of a very difficult piece - takes me back to the Half Moon at Putney where I used to meet John (and Bert) and had more that a few beers with them.
Very lovely indeed! Some disconcerting decapitation going on ... hope you recover soon! ;-)
Beautiful, Chris. Really enjoyed that. Clive
Thanks very much, Clive !
Muito agradável Boa noite
Superbly played - and a great video composition! Previously unrecorded piece?
Wonderful Chris, sort of haunting yet meanderingly mellow at the same time.
This sounds very much like 'tell me what is true love' by Bert Jansch, I suspect John used the idea and altered it. Fantastic job Chris.
Wonderfully done - thank you!
