    * edit because spell check changed words like livelihoods to likelihood, etc. Maybe I've some misspellings but edited because these simple mistakes by spell check effects and affects the intention & meaning of my comment. Just like judges can have on the trajectories and careers of a boxer. Peace out.

      Thanks again, would you be willing to come on my show to talk about your experience as a judge? I don't want to name any names, just talk about the experience and our suggestions for better judging

  • @lsdmofro
    @lsdmofro 2 місяці тому

    I was a pro boxing judge for a year in the 1990s in a state that borders Canada. I quit because the other judges simply didn't understand how to score. And I felt they were nonchalant and callous; they didn't register or possess the cognition how much they effect the livelihoods of the boxer. How huge an impact they can have on their income or simply their life. Because it is their life. The true boxer puts their body, soul, and heart And their physical life (risk) into their craft. And the sacrifices put forth as well as sacrifices if they have a family. I scored the match exactly as you. By the guidelines of boxing, it simply isn't what a judge prefers i.e.; coming forward and being aggressive. The announcers often claim landing blows when they're blocked by gloves, arms, or elbows and or parried. Too, rolling with a shot seen is a deceptive means of defense and thus making the delivery boxer of the punch less effective or sometimes not effective at all, i.e.; Floyd Mayweather Jr, Roberto Duran, Cassius Clay, Kid Chocolate, Chocolatito Gonzalez, Canelo & GGG as just mere examples are or were excellent at. You sir, not because we had the same score card, are stellar and a master at the sport. You truly understand the dynamics of this great historic sport that's riddled with corruption and always will be. Whomever you coach are blessed to have you in their corner and in their life. Quite great boxing, true boxing, did Bivol put forth (not diminishing Beterbiev efforts either, the bout was a highstakes, dangerous chess match). Bivol won 8 to 4 by clean effective punching, effective aggression, Ring Generalship, and lastly, if matters in those areas are perceived tied, defense as the deciding factor. And in both of us knowing the criteria this is why we've identical score cards. On ridding announcers bias while watching. If one has 5.1 surround, unhook most of the speakers but leave the subwoofer plugged in and usually the left channel rear speaker (or sometimes the left front speaker) (or depending upon your A/V receiver the opposite, try the right side) (or simply play around with it as not all A/V receivers have the same circuitry). What will this do? Well. It's wonderful. It almost completely cuts out the 3 to 4 announcers blabbering and you only hear the sound of THE RING! You'll hear the footwork on the canvas, the sound of the boxers and their punches, the inner sou d signal within the ri g (that is mic'd) and the cornerman's yelling instructions and the crowd. Know that there's many live microphones that come into the broadcasts board. These are blended and mixed for the telecast on major network events. With some preparation, a touch of experimental effort, you can isolate the ring sound. Now you're gonna still hear the announcers but its very faint and a bleed over. If you want to truly hear the match, which makes you feel like you're actually in the ring, this is the way and it's an awesome experience. Moreover, it helps a person score. Because the sound of clean landing punches is much different from blocked, partially blocked punches. Body punches landed sound like a drummer's kick bass drum stuffed with towels. The thud is distinctive. As are many shots. I enjoyed your video. You have a person who didn't know who you were as a now a person, me, who will now definitely follow your teachings, wisdoms, occupation, and those boxers you give not just your efforts into, but your heart, soul, honor, integrity, and life experiences to! You're a great man. Thank you for making the time to make a video. It's more than just, how did you score? And this is what I scored and why!? Much more! Gratitude I have for you. Deep respect. Thank You!

      I really appreciate this comment! Even though I don't get a lot of views, it's comments like this that keep me motivated to keep making videos. Like I said, all I ask is for people to give a valid explanation for their opinion. Thank you for doing that! I believe there should be stronger criteria to become a boxing judge, specifically because of how much their judgment affects the life of the boxer and everyone around them. Let's keep in touch, I'm sure we will disagree on a few rounds but would be cool to talk about it. Also thank you for the speaker adjustment suggestion! definetly will be trying this! You really have to focus on the fight to not get influenced by the announcers when scoring a round.
