Hometown Brawl / Muhammad Ali vs Alex Miteff
Cassius Clay (soon Muhammad Ali) fought Argentine Alex Miteff in a ten-round boxing match in Louisville on October 7, 1961.
At the time of the Clay-Miteff bout, Clay was 19 years old and weighed 188 pounds. Miteff was 26 and weighed 210 pounds. However, at 6 feet three inches, Clay was two inches taller than Miteff. Miteff had competed against some of the top level boxers at the time. He was tough and had the reputation of being a strong puncher. It was held that the Clay-Miteff match would provide Clay's toughest test to date.
Before the fight, Clay had informed reporters: "My plan for fighting Alex Miteff is two fast left jabs, a rapid right, and a left hook. And if he's still standing and the referee isn't holding him up, then I'm gonna run."
However, Clay also made a prediction before this fight: "He'll go in six"

After a great debut against Tunney Hunsaker, Cassius Clay (later Muhammad Ali) started his winning streak that lasted for the next seven years. In the period of 1961, Clay met serious opponents, such as: Donnie Fleeman, Lamar Clark, Alonzo Johnson. Clay's path became harder every time he faced new opponent. In 1961 his toughest ten round boxing fight was against Alonzo Johnson, that was his eig...

Ali extremely fast when he was young and skinny
Mohammad ali *
Thanks for sharing this footage!
188 he looks like about 1:48 what a man
This is one of the first times I've seen Ali throw a body shot.
ماشاءالله ماشاءالله ماشاءالله
That final barrage of punches that knocked London out was one of the greatest displays in the history of the heavyweight division. Rarely if ever has the world seen ANYONE that size throw punches so fast. London probably thought that he’d been caught in a tornado.
Patterson looks like a Super Middleweight
Ali had no punch
I had forgotten that he was a light heavyweight in the Olympics..He put on some muscle in the prod.
Ali has never been hit. Even at the beginning. He's always kept his "pretty" face. It pays to be vain! LOL
Ali in his Prime.
Ali on the ropes ,the so called "rope a dope" was nothing new in 1974 Ali did it here and before this fight ,would love see Frazier fight this Ali ,I bet its closer than most think.
Its Muhammad Ali
Muhammad Ali winning his gold medal at light heavyweight in the 1960 Olympics.
Robbed b/s
They are not of yhe same weight. Mohhamed ali could win only weaker fighters
@Peace of be upon Mohamed Cali kalay.❤
اللهم امين يارب العالمين😂
George Chuvalo fights like a heavyweight Jake Lamotta.
This was actually a good competitive fight. Despite being 35 and past his prime, Folley won 3 of the 7 rounds and rocked Ali with several solid right hands. This was Ali's last fight before his 3 and 1/2 year layoff for refusing to be drafted.
Ali connected about 75% of his punches from what I've seen, and that's what led to his opponent getting tired to eventually knocked out. Ali out boxed him. This was a good fight though, it seemed like both of them had to adjust styles in this fight. They had much respect for one another.
The greatest only M. Ali Ex Boxer 🥊
Muhammad Ali
So if ALI was able to fight at HW at 188lbs why didn't Holyfield take so many steroids to make the weight or is that a decision?
You were robbed Doug.
Who were the robbers? Guess not the referees but Ali's skills over Doug's mere power
Not hardly
Same when Ali fought Norton. Ali had no answers. Ali rested a lot. He’d find no time to rest against Rocky Marciano. Non stop puncher for as long as it took.
What's funny is Don Dunphy's the same reporter that said the SAME thing when Ali was whoopin on Joe Frazier in the 3rd rd of their first fight...." Its a question of how....how many of those Punches Frazier can take!"
That's a no-brainer, you can tell his back is all jacked up..This hindered alot of action from Patterson fight game.. And they proved it was a problem after the fight was over. Mad respect for Floyd, he wouldnt quit!
Muhammad Ali.
Poor George Chevalo, he had a life full of misery, tragedy, and heart ache. May GOD be with him.
he appeared to be classy guy
Absolutely. He was very well liked.
People talk about the phantom punch against Liston but as you can see Miteff got hit in a similar way, a fast right and Miteff was out
Clay still a teenager here? Very gazelle like. Good right hand at the finish
Good progress on the way to the championship in three years
The great Ali liked to box his opponents head off slowly and make a fight out of it for the public. Not too keen on using a Susie Q , for the sake of his opponents.
What's a Susie Q?
@@davenorth8922 Big overhand right knockout punch.
@@baraskparas9559 thanks.
Clay liked to pull down on the back of opponents neck even in those early days. Harry Gibbs was having nothing to do with that on the two occasions he fought Cooper.
Muhammad Ali, not cassius.
Cassius Clay WASN'T Muhammad Ali until 1964 .
@@petergreen5337 If Muhammad Ali were alive now, he would change your face like he did with Terrell
A cassyus clay lo tocas y se cae por eso sacaba constantemente las manos joe frazier lo noqueo a. Ese cabezeando lo ganabas 😅
Oooo.schwarzer man wieder"Diskriminiert"🤦🤦🤦🤦🥱🥱🥱🥱
ALI ❤ is ALI ❤...
Great fight
What a fight. Doug Jones.
Btw,if m/ali was in the army, what rank would he have been, not that he had the balls for it,a real fight !! But just curious though... 😉😂😂😂
I think a captain at least )

Alí grande lenda
Ali at his physical best but still not truly tested until the 70s. Would be interesting to see this version of Ali against Frazier in that first fight, his reflexes looked to be quite a bit better, his footwork also better, Frazier might not have landed that left hook as often against this Ali
The greats usually rise to the competition
