How to make a DIY Waves Titan SoundGrid Server
components :
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Z490I Aorus ultra LGA1200
- Proecessor: I9-10900K
- Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 XMP 2.0. 2x8GB
- CPU cooling: Noctua NH-L9i
- SanDisk Ultra Fit 16 gb
- Power: SilverStone FX350-G
( make sure you choose a case with good airflow for this build )
everything you need :
- Windows PC
- Generic Ethernet Switch
- Waves Central
- V14 SoundGrid Studio + eMotion 8ch ( activate free licence here )
- Rufus
- 7-Zip
- AOMEI Partition Assistant
Step 1 :
Insert the 16gb usb drive into your PC, use Rufus to create a bootable Syslinux 6.04 drive ( if you have a fresh install of Rufus you may have to wait for 10-20 minutes for the system Images to load )
Step 2 :
Open 7-Zip, Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Waves Audio\SoundGrid Firmware\SGS\
open SGS_14.9.wfi
extract the 3 folders ( boot, EFI, Version ) to your USB drive
Step 3 :
Open AOMEI Partition Assistant, right click your bootable drive, select Resize Partition and make the bootable partition as small as you can ( should be around 40mb ). Now you have roughly 14gb of non allocated space left which is going to be used by Waves to upgrade the firmware of the server.
Step 4 :
Plug the USB drive into any USB port on the motherboard ( make sure boot priority is set to USB partition in BIOS )
Restart the server, let it do its thing ( takes about 12 seconds to boot )
Step 5 :
Plug the server and the PC to your switch, open SoundGrid Studio, setup your server into slot A.
If it appears in SAFE MODE, press Shift + F to force update the firmware and select the non allocated space from your USB drive.
