Sandy and Ollie travel to New Zealand to hunt in the annual Fiordland Wapiti ballot! #Hunting #deer #shooting #wapiti
Fantastic trip down memory lane! That 2nd clearing at 7min is where we shot a 43inch 12 point bull, and where you shot the 10 is where we saw a huge 14p bull on our 2nd to last day but we were in the tops on the true left (probably back towards where you filmed your big one at the end). I think Longsight is a underrated block, plenty of good country. You did well to pick your way up to the tops, theres a few rock walls in that bush haha 😂
Thanks for the comment! I think I watched your longsight video at least 10 times before heading over haha. Yea we were lucky on the way up and picked a pretty good line. The way down was terrible and we had to take a few risks. We regret not getting those bits on film!
What do you guys think the skins weight, fresh from the deer?
Must be about 10kgs for a wet shoulder mount skin. I could be a bit off but they are heavy!
Good video but yer nar on the long range hunting. I saw a comment you practice out to 1000m . At that distance U got no idea of wind inbetween you and the animal. Not for me but good luck for the future
Thanks for the comment. There was no wind that evening, there was fog sitting still through the valley. We honestly wouldn’t take a shot at that distance if there was much wind, we had a kestrel but like you said, often hard to judge wind across a valley.
shot boys, that bull at the end of the video looks like a ripper!
Thank you! Yea would have been epic to get a bit closer to it
Just imagining the excitement the kings archers must have felt when hunting theses animals.
You should have a German Wire Haired Pointer with you, instead of just taking pot shots.
It wouldn’t call it a pot shot, we hit it in the chest
@28:02 Toms buck or my buck? It's a bloody stag mate. You amateurs should not make videos.
Wow 5 nice bucks, how much meat did you harvest?
Thank you. As much as we could carry out with us!
Can tell how emotional you were losing your mate.. He will be watching from above. Beautifully put together. Nothing better than being in the high country hunting.👍👍
Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback!
Awesome video and sorry for your loss
Appreciate the feedback mate!
What an awesome trip and even better footage. Well done fellas. I really enjoyed watching your video. Great rewards for the effort put in.
Thanks mate! Really appreciate the feedback
What an absolute cracker of a hunt boys 💪
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback
300 Rum check Swaro DS check Kuiu gear check Swaro spotter check Fresh water - doh! 4 stags in 8 days was good going. The problem taking heads in the plane is when the tynes punch through the plastic bag. 😂
Sounds a bit like we have all the gear but no idea!
@HIGHLANDBOYSHUNTING nobody pops them at that range without some idea. Well done.
Lovely work lads. What area in the high country
Thanks for the feedback. Alpine mate
Haha cheers
Never easy losing a good mate😒. I'm sure he's looking down from above😇. Nice work boys👍.
Thanks for the feedback mate!
They’re back! Finally, some good content.
Hahaha finally!
What a mint trip!
Thanks you!
Good work lads 👌
Thanks mate!
Pretty good up until the last shot 700 metres is way to far you can tell by the reaction it's a fluke most people can't shoot that far and shouldn't every cartridge has less energy that far out and we all should have respect for the game to try for a quick hopefully one shot kill, you should try getting closer...It's called HUNTING
Thanks for the feedback mate, we appreciate it! We do practice out to 1000 m for these situations but obviously it didn’t work out this time as the shot hit high. The reaction is because he’s just shot the biggest stag of his life.
Ok but like I said respect for the No1 game animal, at ranges say 500 to 1000 metres you can’t guarantee shot placement with less energy, as in your clip it run and all of you couldn’t find it. Could you return later to search for the stag if so good luck 👍
We hope to return asap to have another look! We had to make it back for the ferry to Tasmania, otherwise we would have kept searching.
Very well put together, with some great stags and shots. Thanks Jim
Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback!

Awesome trip lads. How do you find the MSA vs the Kuiu tents?
I’m running a bushbuck tent (that’s the orange and grey one) and I like it, especially for the price. Haven’t experienced any terrible weather in it yet. My mate has a kuiu and loves it.
Great adventure and memory of a mate departed.
Thanks mate!

Despite lugging the wet weather gear around for no use this trip I highly recommend still taking it next time as you mightn't ever take it off! Good job on the Stag. 👍🏻
Yea I doubt we would get that lucky with the weather again!
