according to my point of view ,both are interrelated but illiteracy is the main factor of poverty but poverty is not main factor of illiteracy but a sub factor. Illiteracy can be an important factor in case poverty but not in all types of poverty but if you compare poverty than majority are not enough educated or skilled. for example: an educated person can bring out his family from worst circumstances I agree that one is not enough to provide luxurious life but is able to provide basic necessities and can improve with passage of time but in case of high class or rich people there are many cases that if their coming generations second or third didn't able to maintain family income resources they usually end up in economic issues just because the offspring didn't get skill and in mostly cases they are not serious about education and are illiterate. there are many cases i have seen where settled fathers stop to help their sons financially after marriage which lead sons to live a unstable life if he is not educated or skilled so illiteracy is main cause .it can make generation again poor if that generation isn't educated. so education keeps people in a repeated cycle of rich and poor
