TRUCKS ON VIDEO - CP PRODUCTIONS
United Kingdom
Приєднався 22 лип 2023
CP Productions - 'Trucks on Video' has it beginnings set back in 1989, when two strangers, both with an infectious passion for all things Trucks and Trucking bumped into each other at a meeting of the CVRTC (commercial vehicle road transport club) in Bristol, UK. Little did Martin Phippard or Peter Connock realise then that this chance meeting was the start of a brother like friendship for the duo that would span 25 years, and would still be enjoyed to this day, if not unfortunately cut way to short through Martin's battle with MND (motor neurone disease).
Martin and Peter's interest in the transport industry had the Dynamic Duo literally travelling thousands of kilometres the globe over chasing and filming Trucks in action. On their return home the footage was edited and produced into a series of DVD disc's that they then retailed. On these trips they collected many hours of raw footage that has never been seen. The purpose of this channel is to now share this footage with you !!

Convoy of Trucks for Martin Phippard's Birthday - 2013

My good mate Martin Phippard had been along to a funeral for a good Truckie friend of his. In honour of the friend, a group of local transport operators put together a parade in honour of their fallen colleague. On Martins return home he mentioned to me how nice it was to see this display of respect. I thought to myself yes, but the poor chap did not get to enjoy it in his living years. Knowing...

The Mack was powered by a 306hp Maxidyne straight six, this was coupled to a 12 speed Maxitorque manual tr...

I drive for Manitoulin Transport we pull 53 footers now and only operate the supers in Ontario and select places in Manitoba
What year was this originally made?
Hey there, it was around 2004... thanks for watching
What a great documentary, thanks for making this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
cool
Thanks for stopping by to have a look, lots more to come..!!
Didn't see any quad axel trailers
Hi there.. thanks for watching, and yes you are correct... this was filmed in the early 2000's, a time before the quads had made a big impact.
omg...lose the cheesy music...
Unfortunately with the older film we can't modify the audio as that is the way it was edited and compiled when produced. So all we can do is upload it as it is... but with that said we truly hope you enjoy the footage and memories from the early 2000's...
When you receive a call on the UHF that there is a wide load approaching, the pilot will advise the width. I remember one a few years ago which was 16 metres wide. Everyone left the road to allow that one past.
While there are a great deal of road trains in WA, they are certainly not restricted to there. The Northern Territory has the longest fuel tanker road train which is prime mover and trailer with three dogs, or subsidiary trailers.
You're absolutely correct their Mate. The red centre of Australia, from coast to coast, offers the avid truck enthusiast more to look at than they can handle - Truck spotters heaven !!
I've seen lots of quads in Mt Isa too, which is Queensland for those that don't know. Cattle trains get to BAB quads in QLD, which is always an awesome sight and heavy loads for the trucks!
cool mate
Far out, some big loads there that's for sure!
Thanks - and yes, there sure are a lot out in the red centre of Australia, they bring a whole other level to the world of heavy haul out there
Awesome video team, some absolutely fantastic footage and captures. A real informative snapshot of what makes Aussie tick. Thank you for posting this.
Thank mate more to come 👍
Brings back many memories , so many of those NZ truck companies sadly no longer exist
Nice K 100 ,, Big gear in the day 🙂
Yes indeed!
Only to add, many ERF tractors used for tanker work coz they have return earth electrical. Good documentary 👍👍👍
Wow the 440 merc felt that , Big gear back in the day though , Great vid 🙂
Great footage , Real days real trucks 💪😁🤙❤
ya, that tractor is way longer than it needs to be- Cole's Express did that 15 years earlier, but with two steer axles, one drive and a 40' van- they hauled 4500 gallons of heating oil north, van load of potatoes south
I don't understand why all this empty space on the Alaskan between the drom and the trailer. So the tractor could be shorter
Is there a video from when they visited in 93?
Loving the vids! I love the classics so much my UA-cam channel has tons of them!
Excellent! What a cool truck. Set back axle, raised roof and windows in sleeper all make it unique. That model COE is one of my favorites.
Woow , truck Freightliner working alaska , spirit of américa, yeaa! , Old truck america , nice , nice , american truck , forever , 🇺🇸🇵🇦
Great job! Does the couple running the modified “cracker box” have a UA-cam channel? Cole’s Transportation museum in Bangor Maine is awesome (GMC cracker box with fuel drom is there).
Surprised that the exhaust stack is shorter than the intake snorkel. In the “ good old days “ before SCR the air filter would get prematurely plugged with exhaust soot if the truck was left idling for prolonged periods of time in a cross wind. That’s why traditionally exhaust stacks are higher than the intake scoop. Nice purpose built trucks.
What a sweet looking Truck 👍👍👍👍🦘🇦🇺
Sweden now allow 34,5 meter truck and trailer combo and 74 metric tons whit out any special permit ect
Xlnt vid👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Sweet Video Jack ,but I don’t like driving in snow and ice I’m from Australia no snow on our Highways ,but we have snow in the mountains cheers stay safe ❤️🙏👍👍👍🦘🇦🇺🇺🇸
Pretty cool, I was born in Enumclaw. Jerry Nordman had a shop there and use to work on my dads A model KW in the 80’s.
What no moose bumper
Great! With best regards from a german truck driver!
Can somebody please tell me why these trucks have a little screen on the bottom of the windshield? I've run long haul for 48 years and never seen one of these in Canada. What's up with this?
In some places they have them to keep rocks from bouncing up and hitting the windshields, especially when on gravel roads
Still popular with Australian trucks
How old is this video?. Sounds like them history channel shows.
Welcome to the channel... and yes, that is exactly what this channel is all about, transport history by a couple of truck enthusiasts that travelled the world over documenting what they saw... we hope you enjoy the footage and stories they captured... ps - have a look at the intro video, that will give you the full back story.
Hi Peter you've brought back my childhood with these videos, i remember alot of the truck's you filmed from seeing them in the UK trucking magazines and dreaming of becoming a truck driver which i have been doing for the last 20 odd years.
I can't believe I've only just found this channel, these are some of the best trucking documentarys I've seen in a long time 🎉🎉🎉
I enjoyed this piece of history. Thanks
Would be Nice to hear, what those drivers think about electric trucks 🤣
Hi ! Nice to see that Super truck ! That s what we called that Manitoulin cabover truck pulling a 48 foot traler back in the 90s ! I drove that from Montreal to Toronto and also from Montreal to Chock River, Ontario, switching trucks there. all we had to do is grab our bag and our CB and get in the other truck and go back home ! The things i didn t like about those trucks was that there was no AC, no suspension and no cruise control ! ya ! i didn t know till i got in the truck to start my first run ! lol ! All trucks are dispatched from Gore Bay, Ontario in the Manitoulin Islands ! 🤠
Excellent - Cheers 🐪
These are similar to B Doubles in Australia. There is prime mover ( tractor ) a trailer of 24 feet lenth, it has a 5th wheel on the rear, then a 48 foot trailer. They can pull up to 72 pallets in some configurations. From there we have Road Trains.
I've seen the occasional B train here in Idaho over the years but they're always from Canada. We also have Rocky Mountain doubles & triples here.
Used to haul bread down to Tacoma WA from Canada Bread in Delta BC and interline with a Franz Bread truck.
This must be the longest wheelbase on a truck 😄
Should ride good
ODD NEVER SEEN IT RIDING HOW HIGH IS A RUCKSACK TRUCK?
Sorry, not sure of exact height, but naturally always within the legal requirements to use the local roads and highways.
IT WILL SOON REACH 4 15 METERS SO TO SEE@@TRUCKSONVIDEO-CPPRODUCTI-eu7ur
In Sweden, the height is 4.5 meters which does not have to be signposted, you can drive higher than that but you have to measure everywhere yourself. These types of trucks are called dragbil med ryggsäck = semi-truck with backpacks in Sweden, they are not common anymore, in my 10 years as a professional driver I have only seen 4 that are still rolling.
tnx @@mattias1215
Well done intro and as soon as I realized what this is about I subscribed right away. Watched first of the Droms (showed up on my home page) and WOW I appreciated the work you and Martin did right away - sorry I was not aware of the videos before. Hope to see the Alaska series soon, THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for the kind words, and appreciation of what we did... they certainly were incredible journeys, and a lot of fun as well...
Great stuff! Had Ken Goudy on, used to treasure his posted photos on Hank Suderman's website - man I miss that one. I don't FB so THANKS for posting!
You are most welcome Mate, and thanks for popping past to have a look... We hope you enjoy our future posts... there is lots more to come..!!
@ 11:21 Jesus I tell you something for nothing that Scania lumber truck was flying around that bend. On a tight schedule and tries to squeeze in as many loads as possible before the mill closes. Can’t beat an old Scania.
That's not a crackerjack truck.
Yeah l wouldn't wanna sleep riding scary. But better than an old under trailer sleeper id seen. Your team driver had to secure the hatch and open from the outside 😮
I drove for Guthmiller trucking in San Leandro CA in the 70's. It was a "canvan". The trailer had doors in the front and with roller ramps we would push the palletized cans, bottles through the trailer and into the drom box. We made two round trips a week from San Francisco bay area to the LA area.
I bought Ed Nords 1972 kenworth canvan in 1980 and was their for a few years. Too achieve maximum volume at legal length the 5th wheel was on a stinger, down low on a slider. At legal length with the 5th wheel forward you couldn't navigate the city streets without stretching out making you over length. If you forgot you would damage your drom doors. It was a cat and mouse game to get from the shipper to the freeway without getting an over length ticket.we would close up on the on the freeway on ramp.
@@larryfedewa9636 It kicked my butt!
I notice one major thing missing that is moving van companies using drom box trucks
